You'll fall in love with this storybook log cabin

Spending Thanksgiving at this beautiful, cozy log cottage it was... just fabulous..the moment we steeped inside this place we truly felt like we stepped inside a very precious storybook picture....so much charm and style (when the owner said the pictures cannot capture how beautiful this place is, she was so right..). I don't even know how to start describing our experience there..we had such a good time relaxing by the marvelous fireplace ( we had everything set up in advance by the owner), we cooked a delicious dinner in a kitchen that had everything we needed ( the whole house it was also well supplied, we had enough of everything, we didn't run out of anything) we had such a lovely dinner on the enclosed back porch, where we set up lots of lamps and candle lights, they were everywhere in the house.. I just loved it.. I felt like the whole place was part of a movie set or of an old country style Thanksgiving dinner commercial (I know that somebody else said something similar too, but it's so true). We had many happy moments there.. the enclosed back porch has the faboulous dinning area but also a nice relaxing area with a cozy couch where you can cuddle up and watch a movie, or have an aftenoon nap after a nice walk on the beach, which is just steps away. What else can I say? The place is well taken care of, you see it and fell it, everywhere you look you see something that captures your attention..lots of authentic antiques, little details in every corner that make this house ...just marvelous !!! Thank you for sharing this beauty with us !!!

This home was so much more than the pictures reveal. My sisters' and I had a wonderful time, the beach is a short walk away. We had never been to the Lake Michigan area before and were pleasantly surprised by what we saw. The deer outside our back door was so special to watch while having breakfast. We would recommend this cabin to anyone. We hope to come back again!

Quintessential Michiana Log Cabin

Guest: Joan and Guy (Evanston, IL)

We first visited this cottage after a record-breaking snow, loved it then, and could not have been more delighted during our two weeks of solid summer sunshine. The kitchen and other facilities worked so well that we had little trouble preparing a gourmet dinner for close friends just 2 hours after our arrival. When our preschool grandkids arrived (and the stunning pottery temporarily moved out of reach), this marvelously versatile space worked just as well for them as for our sophisticated adult visitors. The owners were both available and helpful. Often we were the only ones on the pristine beach. Truly a memorable vacation!

More than words

Guest: Anca (Chicago)

The experience at this beautiful cottage is hard to put down in words. It was much more then we expected, there was nothing that we needed more. We were a few couples that needed to escape from our busy lives in Chicago and we were very fortunate to come about this amazing place. Everything was clean and cozy and full of precious details that surprized us at every corner. The atmosphere is hard to capture in words or pictures, I am happy we at least have it in our memory. I am looking forward to going back again, perhaps seeing it in the snowing season.

Beautiful cottage

We had the luck to rent this jewel on our recent trip to the shores of Lake Michigan. We were so incredibly happy with this cottage that we never wanted to leave! The interiors are truly amazing -- photographs do not do it justice. I mentioned several times during our stay that it could be a set for a Hollywood movie because it is so beautifully and classically decorated. The cottage was spotless and well-stocked, and Lake Michigan is just around the corner. The cottage is private and relaxing -- we can't wait to go back.

My husband and I were in awe of the attention to detail in this true historic gem of a log cabin. We loved being there in winter and could not have felt more cozy and in love with our surroundings!

Unbelievably charming

THis is the 3rd time we have stayed at this fabulously appointed log cabin. It is richly decorated with fabulous collections from ceramics to wildlife. I have 3 kids and they all love it here! They love fighting for who gets to sleep on the sun porch. Best appointed backyard gazebo I've ever seen. It is a fabulous place to have a dinner party. (Kitchen is close quarters but very functional.) Great proximity to the beach but when we go in the fall or winter - the fabulous fireplace with a great book or board game can't be beat! We highly recommend it and the owners are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Absolutely one of our favorite places to escape from everyday life.

Thank you for letting us spend a wonderful long weekend at your cottage - we can't wait to come back! Your charming cottage looks like a private home in the Adirondacks furnished by a great decorator and has everything guests could possibly need. Before our arrival, the owner even prepared the fire and put out pumpkins for us. She also gave us information about the area and recommended a great grocery and restaurants - we especially loved the Blue Plate Cafe and Soe's. The house is just steps from a great private beach, and we loved the Michiana area. Nearby, there's a scenic walking trail, two playgrounds, a golf course and stable. It's a short drive to the Warren Woods forest, Indiana Dunes and several antique shops -- next time! We plan to visit this winter and take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, cross country ski and build a roaring fire in the fantastic fireplace.

Our Perfect Retreat

Guest: Lidia (Livonia, MI)
Date of Stay: 08/26/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

As the end of August approached, I decided to head to lake Michigan with my boys to close the summer with what I hoped would be another sweet family memory. As I browsed the cabins for rent, I saw this one in Michiana...a place I had never been before. I decided to go for it, sight unseen, and I could not have been more pleased...it was exactly what I was looking for. Not only were we greeted by the owner, who was friendly and gracious, but the home was cozy and tasetful and the location was in walking distance of the beach. All of this, combined with the close proximity of many quaint and enjoyable beach towns, led me to title my review "Our Perfect Retreat." I would highly recommend staying here as a couple, family or single wanting to get away. It has the potential to fill any type of vacation you are seeking.

We had a wonderful time at this cabin. I have been going up to this area since I was a little girl, but staying in this house made me feel like I was in a totally different place. It was a total escape.
