This place turned out to be even more then what we expected. We arrived to an adorable home located about a mile out of the little town of Sonoma. Barry's home was adorable and perfect for anyone who wanted to be in the central of "wine country". The house is decorated nicely and perfect for four people. We were there with our two best friends. This was our first time out on the west coast and in the valley and Barry was so incredibly helpful with everything. The house is a complete GEM and SOOO close to so many wineries. LOVE LOVE LOVE it and would completely recommend this place to anyone who wants quaint vacation home that actually feels like home, with a perfect rose filled garden and back yard that takes all your stress away. Chateau St. Jean Winery (Sonoma) is perfect for a picnic, Benzinger (Partner's Tour- Sonoma) is AMAZING and well worth the $40 they even give you a complimentary tasting for Imagery Estate Winery (Sonoma) which is 5 minutes away from the house. Please go to Arroyo Winery in Calistoga (call ahead) amazing small winery complimentary tasting (up to 4), great wines. Hendry Winery (Napa- Call ahead $20 Tour) VERY informative tour. In Sonoma- Roche Winery tasting saloon is great place to go an relax, Highway 12 wines has complimentary wine tastings, Sonoma Cheese shop is a great place to go pick out those perfect cheeses for your vacation. Barry is very helpful with place to eat, shop, and to taste at. We really couldn't have asked for a better host, home, and vacation!

Great Find in Sonoma

We loved the small home with the large backyard! The backyard is perfect for dining and hosting friends and family for a nice BBQ. Inside, the decor is great and the beds and linens were comfortable. The house has everything you need, including an easy-to-access washer and dryer. Plus, the owners leave a very informative book for the surrounding areas. It's so easy to get into the main Sonoma Square, and it's less than 10 minutes to several tasty wineries. I would definitely return.

Valley of the Moon Wine Country Retreat

We thoroughtly enjoyed our six week stay. It became our home away from home. For a midwesterner, winter morning coffee and afternoon lunch in our own sunny backyard, brimming with yellow roses and fresh apples, was a real treat. The home is beautifully decorated and well located in a nice neighborhood. We recommend it highly for a weekend getaway or an extended stay.

My husband and I just returned from this Sonoma retreat. What a gem! The photo's and amenities are just as described and the owner is quick to reply with any questions/concerns that you may have. The home is conveniently located, with quick access to many wineries in Sonoma and Napa Valley. In addition, it is a reasonable drive to the Pointe Reyes National Seashore and Bodega Bay. When we return to Sonoma, we will definitely stay here again.

Perfect wine country home

Four of us stayed in Sonoma in early October, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This charming rental is a gem! Perfect location, right off of highway 12, but still has a quiet neighborhood feel. The backyard is beautiful, with apple trees. There was a bottle of wine from an area winery on the counter when we arrived. The home was very clean and well maintained. Barry was the best! He was very prompt in responding to any questions that we had. We could email him about anything, including restaurant and winery recommendations, and he would get back to us right away. We had such a great time and would love to return again next year!

Wonderful Couples Weeekend

My husband and I stayed in Barry's home in Sonoma one weekend in September of 2011 with another couple. Not only was the home absolutely adorable, tastefully furnished and comfortable, but Barry could not have been a more wonderful host. While we never met him in person, he was there with us through his suggestions the whole weekend. The home was exactly as the pictures depict, very clean, and clearly loved. My husband left half of his clothes in the dresser, and Barry, without any sense of annoyance, collected all of his things and mailed them to us immediately! The house is perfect for two couples, with ample space to lounge around. The backyard is such a wonderful and relaxing space, and the apples growing out there tasted delicious! Parking for two cars was never an issue, and we were a very short drive from downtown Sonoma where we had delicious meals. So much wine tasting, so much to do, too little time! I can't say enough about how wonderful this home and its owners are, and I definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a hassle free oasis at the end of the day!

Sonoma Fall Wine Tasting

The accommodations were excellent, the private garden is very enjoyable and relaxing. We found the location very accessible to multiple destinations. We attended the Cline fall celebration and had excellent taxi service to and from. The Sebastiani evening of music in their cellar was also fantastic.

My sisters and I meet in Sonoma annually for a girls weekend. This is the first time we stayed at Valley of the Moon and plan to go back again next year. The house itself is nicely appointed and comfortable with all the comforts of home. The lovely backyard is the icing on the cake. The owners were very gracious about sharing everything in the home. We like the location since we could live like locals there and be a little bit away from the rest of the tourists but not far enough way to be inconvenient. Perfect location and wonderful experience!

Four of us rented this house for a weekend in Sonoma and simply loved it. The place was extremely clean and well provided for. We enjoyed our stay and the owner was very prompt with access information, deposit refund etc. It was over all a very pleasant experience and I would gladly rent it again. We already miss Sonoma!!

Small, well-equipped home with a large, secluded backyard in a cozy neighborhood. We were treated to Pacific birds (from Midwest) in our very backyard. We had everything we needed at the home - iron, hairdryer, soap, internet, etc. The owners are great! They left a lot of area information including a bottle of wine and tasting coupons. Barry was very helpful with our planning questions and extremely prompt responding. We left Sunday and by Friday our security deposit refund check had arrived. Talk about quick! I had contacted another property before this one which must be handled by a real estate agency. They were slow to respond and send out materials. Barry responded within the hour and was such an excellent source of information I simply couldn't refuse to stay here. I was rewarded with a nice place to stay by generous owners. Talking to a few other people who were out in the area as well (we were all attending a wedding) it sounds like we lucked out with the best owners and location for the price.

My husband and I and another couple visited Valley of the Moon Retreat and enjoyed everything. It was close to town and the wineries. The kitchen was stocked with extras so when we made dinner, we didn't have to buy spices and condiments. We then enjoyed dinner and wine on the patio, wonderful!! Barry was also very helpful before our stay with recommendations for car rentals and directions to and from several locations. We really appreciated all his input.

We truly enjoyed our time at this lovely home. We were staying with our 2-yr old son and the home was absolutely perfect. Spotless and full of everything we needed from dishwasher to washer/dryer. The kitchen is also well stocked with pots/pans/cooking utensils and we found ourselves cooking most days. The inside has be completely renovated and is very comfortable. The backyard is amazing, very relaxing - our son LOVED it and so did we. We found ourselves just hanging around outside from breakfast until early afternoon most days. 5 minute drive to the Plaza was the icing on the cake. This was our first vacation with our 9 month son, and having a house made the vacation sooo much better than a hotel room. We really appreciate your help in accommodating him with the pack-n-play and the high chair. The location of the house (being towards the north side of the city) was perfect for getting to all the wineries, but close enough that it wasn't a hassle to get to the plaza. My husband & I spent a fabulous weekend at your Sonoma home while we were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary. It was such a delight to stay in a home that was so beautifully decorated and centrally located to the wineries and the town square. Everything that we could possibly need was available for our use. The information you left on the wineries and the restaurants was most helpful. Cafe La Haye, Girl and a Fig and Estate had excellent food and of course the wine list was wonderful and varied. The Benzinger winery is the first biodynamic winery using an organic and natural process for making wine. The tour is very interesting and well worth doing. Their boutique winery, Imagery, is also interesting to visit. They specialized in different blends. You can't miss Cheatuea St. Jean which has beautiful grounds and an old gorgeous home. We hope to return again to Sonoma to explore further this wonderful area and we definitely would like to stay at your charming home again.

Barry and Bonnie's house was a fantastic place to stay while we explored the Napa/Sonoma area. The house was beautifully put together and had everything we needed. And even though the houses are close together, we never heard a thing from the neighbors. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recomend it to any of my friends.

What a fine base of operations for visiting the wine country. The fully equipped kitchen and the barbecue grill were greatly appreciated and well used. The garden was a true delight. We ate many meals out there at the end of busy touring days. The home is close to everything you would want to see. The homeowner's recommendations of recommendations and wineries to visit were excellent. I heartily recommend this home to all.

What a wonderful experience. The home was well appointed, with all the comforts of home. The pictures on the site do not do this property justice. The welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch and the backyard was a perfect respite. Day trips to all the hotspots were a breeze. They have taken great care of the home and it makes for a perfect vacation. Just an FYI for those planning on heading to the wineries, make sure there is a designated driver as the highways are loaded with highway patrol waiting to pick up the over indulgent drivers. Thanks to the Walners for making our trip so memorable. We will definetly be back!

Wow! What a lovely, peaceful home. Beautifully finished and comfortably furnished. The backyard is even bigger and more charming than the pictures show! BBQ out back for cooking up a romantic dinner, which we did! Sonoma's historic downtown was a fun spot to hit for a unique shopping experience, with good times to be had there in the evening, too! This lovely home is less than 10 minutes away from a number of great wineries. Only wish we had more time to explore the area. 5 days just flew by! Corrina and I want to thank you so much for letting us rent your beautiful home! It was in the perfect location, the kitchen was perfect, the backyard was unbelievably beautiful and relaxing, and we really appreciated the recommendations you made for your favorite winery’s (they were the best – we also went to Napa and they weren’t quite as nice there for the most part). Also, thanks for the bottle of wine. I have to tell you we also loved the little Mexican restaurant right down the street from your home – we went there several times after discovering it. I’m sure you’ll be hearing from us again in the future about renting your home again! Thanks a bunch! Corrina and Christina

March 24, 2008 Dear Bonnie and Barry: Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful home for my stay up in Sonoma last week. Immediately when I walked through the door I knew my experience was going to be one of warm and welcome. I had every intention of just relaxing and unplugging from everyday life and I easily traversed to a sense of ease by being in your beautifully decorated house. The added bonus of course was being able to go to the Mission Sonoma Spa and Inn as a day guest to enjoy the healing properties of thermal waters and then slip back into the comforts of your home in the wine country. Barry and Bonnie, Thank you so much for sharing with us your beautiful home in Sonoma. We had a wonderful time while in town for an engagement party and couldn't have asked for better accomodations. I especially loved thumbing through the before and after pictures of the renovation of this home. Thanks again for all of your effort in making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. -We wanted for nothing while there!

`Barry: Your keys were waiting us and we all enjoyed your "welcome" to your beautiful house. Spotlessly appointed with every culinary and relaxing need met. I especially enjoyed the many artistic touches everywhere and the view of the nicely designed backyard to make it complete. Your many sources of wine country guidance (not to mention your welcoming bottle of same) made a very appropriate introduction to our three day wedding celebration of my son and his fiancee at the Mission. Most convenient for such a busy and happy time! So, the end of a perfect weekend and we thank you and Bonnie for your fine hospitality. Art
