Imagine driving by scenic wine country vineyards, through a redwood forest, along a peaceful and beautiful stretch of the California coast, and arriving at Irish Beach and The Corey House - the perfect home base for your vacation.

The house itself is luxurious and comfortable, but what makes this home truly special is the idyllic location. No photograph can convey the beauty you will see and the peace you will feel when you are in this house. Safely situated on a gentle hillside, the house is just a few hundred feet from the ocean. What you will see from the great room is miles and miles of ocean and coastal hills. The Corey House actually overlooks one of the most beautiful "Vista Points" in the state. There are no houses or cars in your view, just the ocean, mountains, pastures and an assortment of animals, such as sheep, deer, donkeys, and birds.

Completed in 2006, this roomy 1500 square foot house was designed to be a peaceful and serene vacation home. The design is spacious and uncluttered, with soft neutral walls, lots of light, and large windows with beautiful ocean views from every room, even the bathrooms. The marble-surround gas fireplace, sound system in each room, and lights with dimmers throughout the house allow you to relax as you wish.

Sleeping up to six, there are two bedrooms and an open reading room with a sofa that converts to a double bed. One bedroom features a California king bed, TV, walk-in closet, and a fully tiled shower for two. The other bedroom has a queen bed and tiled shower with bathtub. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house, and each has its own deck. There are five separate decks, over 900 square feet in all. You can also relax in the very private, five-person, outdoor spa, and gaze at the stars or enjoy the sounds and sight of the ocean.

The beautiful, five mile long beach is just a few blocks away, one minute by car. A special passkey for the private, gated road to the beach is included with your rental.

We arrived after a long day travelling down from Klamath via the Avenue of the Giants. Your house has done exactly what we hoped for—a retreat and an opportunity to recharge our batteries before moving on to San Francisco. We’ve only left the house once to go to the beach—the sea was freezing but it was exhilarating. Otherwise we have forgotten the clocks and just chilled. The hot tub was great fun. We have had the chance to read our books, play scrabble, sit out on the decks, enjoy the view of the ocean, count the deer and chat to “Maynard” the donkey. We have stayed in many rental homes over the years, and yours is way up there—well equipped and comfortable. Thank you, Julie, Michael, Kate & Andy Aylesbury, England P.S. Our holiday started in Seattle two weeks ago and ends in San Francisco. We go home Thursday, the 16th—that’s why we’ve loved the peace and tranquility your home has given us in our busy, full schedule.

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful home. We couldn’t have asked for better. We had a great time at Irish Beach and exploring other areas. Point Arena was very pretty. We discovered a great Mexican restaurant in Anchor Bay called Mariachis. We loved the wildlife! It was so fun feeding the donkeys. They were so cute! They love carrots. Even the deer ate some carrots. One thing that was unforgettable was watching the sunset over the ocean from the hot tub. It was just beautiful! Everything was perfect. We loved our stay. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks again, Mike, Jeri, Chelsea & Tyler

We have so been looking forward to this vacation and your home didn’t disappoint. I was looking forward to some beach time with the kids and Irish Beach is great. Being that the #1 attraction in the area is the beach and it’s pretty much free, that made this vacation very affordable. We tried visiting other beaches—like Manchester State Park and the coastal access sign near the dairy (south of Manchester), but they weren’t so accessible or kid friendly. But they are great for hiking/running—delicious for us trail runners in the house! Every night we took a stroll around the neighborhood after dinner to get the kids good and tired out. We saw deer and bats… super cool. We did venture up to Mendocino yesterday—Tuesday—only to learn that much of the town takes Tuesday off. We tried to visit the much ballyhooed Garden Bakery, but they were closed for prep, as they are on every Tuesday. Let that be a cautionary tale to everyone--avoid your own “National Lampoon’s Vacation” moment and go on some other day. Mendocino’s Baking Company was a great alternative. The sausage and egg pouch was wicked good. We went to Big River beach which was fun for the kids. We nearly dammed the river with all the rocks we threw. But we were also scolded for accepting a cell phone call in Mendocino. None of us had reception for days and I was surprised when my phone actually rang (birthday greeting for me!). It wasn’t a long conversation and certainly not a big deal but we feared using a phone on the streets of Mendocino after that cuz we might get run out of town. Today, on our way out of town, we’re going to try the beach in Elk (Greenwood) which is described as “cozy.” We’ll see…This house could easily become a tradition. If I don’t see the beach at least once per year, we go a little nutty. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your home. Also thank you for your kindness and understanding about the crayon mishap. Sincerely, Brittany, Jon & Hana Jennifer, Jack, Riley & Charlotte Paul, Nadia & Cole Ps. For those that want to “contain” kids on the back deck, move two of the Adirondack chairs to block the pathway--certainly defeatable, but if you sit in those chairs, you can catch `em as they try to get by.

Thank you for allowing us to spend time in your home. We really enjoyed our time here. The kitchen was a “Hit.” My husband always takes 2 pots and pans on our road trips, and what is funny is that when we got here you had the same Kirkland pots as we do. We just laughed. The donkeys and deer came by daily. We did venture off to the beach, the lighthouse and the redwoods. We will never forget this place and will return. Awesome views!!! Michael, Lisa, Joseph & David

All of us had a wonderful time. Your home is beautiful, warm and welcoming. We love the area as well. We went to the Pt. Arena lighthouse and Mendocino. Thank you for the efforts you put into making the “Corey House” a home away from home. Cheers! The Coles Redding, CA

After 2 weeks here, we’re wondering where the time went?? We took Tracey and Jason’s (the previous guests) recommendation & visited Mendo’s Garden Bakery—many times. Wonderful food…the owner lives in Pt. Arena. In Pt. Arena we found Franny’s Cup and Saucer Bakery—oh my goodness!! Scones, cupcakes, cookies, all types of delicious calories. And Pt. Arena Tileworks is so worth a visit—bring checkbook or cash (no credit cards accepted). Owner Matt does beautiful tile work—check out online. Maynard visited often, even in gale force winds last night by himself. Be sure to have apples and carrots on hand. Yes, this is a special place—full of good-soul vibes. Thank you again, Alex and Cathy. We are blessed. Weather June 6-22, blue skies, mostly, low 60’s some fog some horrible wind peace and beauty The Boyds & Boyd-Rhine family and from Loah (our wonderful Lab) who had the time of her life seeking out the gophers in the many holes in the ground. P.S. The Friday 12-2pm Mendocino farmer’s market is wonderful! Great lettuce!

What an amazing week! We spent most of our time relaxing in the house with wine, cheese, and bread. The hot tub certainly helped us relax...the “happiness” sign says it all! Went for several runs around the neighborhood, such beautiful surroundings. We saw the donkeys, a bunch of deer, sheep, and a bobcat down at the private beach. It felt very refreshing to be so close to nature and all the mystery it has to offer. We spent many afternoons in downtown Mendocino and strongly suggest the Garden Bakery. Think we’ll miss that the most! We had so much to celebrate this week. We’ve been married 10 years, we both just graduated from college, and now we’re on our way to a PhD program in the fall in Oregon. This was the perfect “eye” of the hurricane. We’ve overcome some of life’s great hurtles, have rested, and now we’re ready to move on. Thanks so much for providing us with a safe, comfortable and relaxing haven for us to recharge and face our futures head on. Life is great, celebrate! Tracy & Jason Saratoga, CA

We enjoyed your home and all it has to offer. Not much of a view during our stay due to fog. But you certainly have a beautiful location. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful spot! Kurt, Barbara, and Kent Allentown, PA
