Our family and two dogs stayed in the Corey House from 5/13/12 to 5/17/12 for some relaxation and a birthday celebration. This home had absolutely everything that one could need in a vacation rental. Actually, above and beyond what you could possibly need. From the games, movies, music, furniture covers (so didn't have to worry about doggies getting on furniture) to kitchen supplies, etc., it's all there. This is an amazingly relaxing home in a beautiful location. Sisters, dogs, all had a great time and can't wait to come back and make it a tradition. Thank you to you both for being willing to share your beautiful vacation home.

A clean, comfortable home. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfortable. I had no intentions of cooking on my vacation, but we cooked every night. Kitchen is the best stocked I have ever stayed in, and we always rent homes when on vacation. Watching the deer, donkeys and sheep in the evening was so entertaining we didn't want to leave. Fireplace is nice, Hot tub great. Pretty garden out front. Alex (owner) is great to deal with, answered all my questions quickly and gave lots of advice on restaurants. Multiple decks ,comfortable deck furniture. plenty of windows to enjoy the wild life.
Owner response:Ina, thank you for the kind words. You were a pleasure to deal with. Cathy loves to cook, so she stocks the kitchen with everything one might need. If an item gets worn out, she replaces it. In a few years, we have had 4 toasters, 3 coffee makers, 3 sets of pots and pans, and 3 BBQ grills. We designed the kitchen so that it is part of the living and dining areas, with plenty of windows so you can cook and eat while enjoying the ocean, mountains and wildlife. There are many good restaurants along the coast, but it is hard to beat the simple pleasure of enjoying a meal and wine with family or friends in this comfortable home.

We spent a wonderful weekend in this great house, and regret that we did not stay longer. The web pictures do not really do it justice - as it is well decorated, has a wonderful fully stocked kitchen and is perfectly maintained (with obviously love and care ) and sparkling clean. The views were magnificent and it seemed to be the quietest place on earth. The only issue we had is that operation of the electronics (brand new large screen TV, DVD, CD, Satellite Box, Stereo, ipod connection) was a bit overwhelming. I think there were six remotes! However it did not matter because when we came home from exploring and hiking we headed straight to the hot tub. In summary - this home is a great place for those wanting a quiet weekend away from it all. Having rented many VRBO homes, we would consider this a winner!
Owner response:Diane and Mel, thank you very much for taking the time to write such a positive review. It makes us very happy to know that our guests have had a wonderful stay. I apologize for the problem with the remotes. A few days before your stay, our TV provider installed a new HD satellite and box. We have updated our instructions for future guests. We welcome your return!

The three of us & our puppy dogs came through rain & detours from Sacto to get here & it was totally worth it! As always, the house was perfect when we arrived. We really appreciate all of your thoughtfulness with the amenities. All that is required from us is to settle in & start relaxing! A bonus: it was Joy’s birthday too! The weather was beautiful except for one very foggy day & evening. We hate to leave but the next visitors are on their way, so on we must go…?. But…we’ll be back! ? Thank you so much for providing such a comfortable, cozy, impeccable space to share with friends for a long weekend. As we had hoped for, we woke up to a beautiful sunny day with blue skies and crisp spring breeze. What we hadn’t anticipated was the news of the tragic quake & tsunami warnings and beach closures here locally. What a different experience for those of us born and raised in the interior mountains to have to consider! But we reveled in it, were able to meander down to the vista point just down the road during the early morning hours and watch the ocean with a cautious eye, from a safe height, among a handful of friendly locals & mugs of hot coffee. In the end the tsunami warning was lifted and—alas—the beach was ours for the wandering. From this amazing location there is quick access to so many breathtaking places, all of them just empty enough to feel secluded and private. And needless to say, the house itself is a gem, everything here felt so intuitive—when it comes to creature comforts, and then some, we constantly found ourselves saying, “They have thought of everything.” We hope to come again some time soon and enjoy such a unique & wonderful space. You have done a terrific job!! Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you, Faye, Jessie, Lisa, Travis & sandy dog Spokane, Washington

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Irish Beach. It was so wonderful to see so much life walking all around us, the donkeys, deer, and many more. Our first visit to Irish Beach, we saw a seal on land! The warm fire was so cozy every night, and so was the hot tub. Thank you for the nice place to stay, it was very relaxing. Sincerely enjoyed your home. Thought we would get stormed in but no such luck. Visited a few beaches, shopped, and barbequed filets and prawns all weekend. Got much use of the hot tub and fed the donkeys twice. What a wonderful location--quiet and relaxing. I think the kids watched one movie all the rest of the time. Music! The kids thoroughly enjoyed. Though next time we might come up by ourselves. Thank again, Matt & Christy, Tabitha & Samantha

Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to guests. You have an amazing spot on the Mendocino coast. We felt very much at home here. You provided a place with great energy to relax and recharge our batteries. We had 70’s and sunshine & BBQ’d, sat on the various decks to enjoy the vistas, took many pictures & fed the donkeys. We also had the hail, winds & big waves to bundle up and watch movies & listen to music, reading and napping. We used your hot tub every day, even in the pouring rain. We hiked from the house to Irish Beach & Pomo Lake. Bella chased deer & realized after a couple of days that it was fruitless. We cooked several meals using your awesome kitchen. Our favorite place to eat was the Pizza & Cream on the Pier & we even saw “Al”! My husband Scott watched all the Daytona 500 trials & finished reading my book from the trilogy by Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We’re heading north today & tomorrow we will return to Folsom. We are already thinking about our next visit to the Corey House. Thank you, Ingrid, Scott & Bella

It was a year ago that we made our first visit to the Corey House. We are packing to leave from our 6th visit since then. Love it here and hate to leave. Our favorite things about the Corey House Part 2 (continued from our October 2010 visit): 1. Always knowing the house will be immaculate & well stocked when we arrive. 2. Sitting in the hot tub at night and looking up at the bright stars. 3. How the house makes any kind of weather wonderful. 4. How friendly everyone here is when we go for long walks. This is definitely our favorite place to come back to. We appreciate all you provide, even some cranberry sauce for the turkey dinner. We had 2 days of sun, & then there was lots of rain, but we were warm and cozy just being here. 5 donkeys came to serenade us & eat the apples we brought for them, & wildlife was everywhere. We still found breaks in the weather to walk a lot on Irish Beach. Our pictures are amazing that we took, & your house is the most comfortable one at Irish Beach and we have stayed at many others. Thank you for being so generous. We are sad to leave here. John and Diane & family, & Roxie Corning, Calif.

What a great little break we had in the middle of the business of Christmas. So much fun to bring Massimo! The great room provided a very safe place for him to explore! It’s usually challenging traveling with the baby, but the cleanliness and organization of your home made it easy, fun & relaxing! (Your closet in the master made an excellent bedroom for Max!) The weather didn’t cooperate too well, but we were still able to accomplish what we came here to do: relax, be together, play games, stay in our pajamas all day, enjoy the beautiful views & even take a couple of soaks in the hot tub! Thanks again for thinking of everything so we didn’t have to! P.S. Massimo loved all the teeny, tiny bowls for him—especially the fish ones! He apologizes for the smudges on the windows. After almost one year of intense non-stop work in Silicon Valley (a start-up company going full guns!) I stopped and took a very deep breath and, as fortune would have it, found myself at your lovely homestead. We marveled at everything! How lovely were the surroundings…how well appointed and organized was this amazing abode! We weren’t disappointed in terms of wildlife either. Met the donkeys—who were extremely curious and adorable—saw deer and buck—gorgeous hawks and other birds. Lots of crazy weather—but the sun did, ultimately, shine and the air was sweet and clean. I will be back (promised myself!). It was a perfect antidote to Silicon Valley! Cheers, Benita, Tim & Gracie the doggie who loved it too!!

I stayed at the Corey house the first week of Sept. 2010. It was one of the best vacations I have had. After working so much over the past two years, this was the perfect respite to just sit and relax! I literally just sat on the back patio, had some wine and watched the sun set…I couldn’t have asked for more! I also had my dog with me who enjoyed the walks on the nearby Irish Beach and in the neighborhood. Being able to sit in bed and see the ocean in the morning when waking was the greatest. Alex is wonderful to work with and very attentive before I left for the house…making sure all my questions were answered and that I had all I needed with regards to the house for the week. The property is very clean and extremely well maintained. Thank you Corey’s for a wonderful experience!

Cute and comfortable, your house is truly beautiful! Opulent views – from the private beach, we saw gray whales feeding, crashing waves, a little glimmer of sun and tons of giant kelp! Rich scenery, especially plant life. Your garden, the Mendocino Botanical Gardens, varying shades of green all around here and the timeless old barns. Exciting wildlife! Half a dozen donkeys greeted us Wednesday morning and were more than happy when we fed them carrots and lettuce. Yummy food! The carrot ginger soup, fish n’ chips, pizzas, French onion soup, clam chowder, bread pudding and peach cranberry crisp from Bridget Dolan’s Pub were fantastic! Happy, friendly & supportive people - families at the beach, the people in Elk and the people at the Albion gas station and deli who helped us with our cars! Outstanding finds at the glass beach – we found glass of all colors and sizes and tons of porcelain. Underwater creatures, like jellyfish, giant sea kelp & sea stars were all around us as we kayaked around the caves with our tour guide “Davey Jones.” Sand, fog and driftwood and jackrabbits made our beach day a blast! The private beach had loads of driftwood, so we built a house of driftwood and dubbed it the “Love Shack.” Everything about your house and your hints about where to go and what to do made our stay so relaxing and fun! I don’t know what we’ll do without the hot tub and view! Thank you for an incredible house; it really made our vacation perfect! Nola, Melissa, Kelly, Nick and Nathan (Santa Cruz, CA)

Thanks so much for sharing such beauty with our family. We’ve decided that each of us would like to honor you both by saying what our favorite part of the trip was. Enjoy! ANNA (Age 10): Wow! Your house was spacious yet cozy, peaceful yet there were friendly neighbors nearby. I especially enjoyed the visits from 4 donkeys (Maynard, Lucille, Inspector Dudley, Steve). We loved feeding them carrots and apples. Irish Beach and Glass Beach were both spectacular. We visited Point Arena Lighthouse and learned a lot. We also looked at many, many vineyards! As a kid, I loved the cheese at the vineyards. Your house was wonderful and magical. I hope to visit again soon!! BOB (Age 58): I think that Anna has covered most of the highlights! I particularly loved the smell of the meadow & sunsets from the hot tub. Clara (Age 13): Shower’s nice. Views cool. Love the spa. Enjoyed stay here! The donkeys (especially Inspector Dudley!) Lisa (Age 50): I liked the comfy bed, breezes, sunshine (we brought lots with us from Maryland), the quiet, the friendly neighbors, meadow fragrance, friendly donkeys, ocean vistas and crashing waves. Thanks for opening your house to visitors. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

We also loved visiting the lighthouse, hiking the Headlands & sitting on the beach. We watched hawks & seagulls soar & glide & enjoyed seeing many other birds, wildlife, even zebras in Point Arena. I haven’t been much south of Mendocino nor north of Point Reyes, along Hwy 1, in my 31 years in California—it has been wonderful to discover this area. Well, this place was amazing. Went with our 10 month old son and another couple and stayed for 3 nights. The views were great (especially from the hot tub), the location was very close to everything we wanted, and the house was really nicely laid out and decorated. It was also the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in and provided very detailed instructions for everything. We cooked every night, which was made so much easier by the well equipped kitchen. The owners were great in their communication and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely visit again when in the area!

We stayed at the Corey house four nights and days in early June - and we had the full weather spectrum, from pure sunshine and blue skies to full-on horizontal downpour (high winds), but the house made all the accomodations necessary. We easily managed to stay entertained thoughout our stay, with trips to Mendocino, Irish Beach, Point Arena, even Fort Bragg. When the weather turned south, we hung out in the spacious, cleanly decorated house enjoying the changing views from the huge windows. We were visited by big horn sheep (7 of them camped out 3 feet from the fence line), donkeys, deer, and the sky was in constant motion with the turkey vultures soaring about. We ate dinner "in" every night - the kitchen easily accomodated cooking for 5, and it was so much more fun than organizing dinners out...We cooked breakfasts, and even spent a couple of lunches at the house too. It was really important to us to have a place that would be inviting and safe (we brought our 17 mo old), and it was truly perfect. Thank you so very much for making our trip all that we hoped and more! We're already planning our return trip!
Owner response:The main feature of our home is the panoramic, mesmerizing view of the ocean, mountains and pastures. There are no houses, rooftops, cars or roads in the view. Our vacation home is a perfect place to go to relax, explore, celebrate and enjoy life. Gareth and Kirsten, it makes us very happy to read that you enjoyed everything our home offers. Thank you for being ideal guests--we welcome your return!

We had such a splendid time at your house & the surrounding area. We’ve rented many vacation homes, but yours is definitely one of the best ones. Thank you so much for being so generous & stocking a lot of things in the kitchen. Also, thanks for all the recommendations!! We did get pizzas from Franny’s Bakery & they were sooo good. We also visited wineries on 128 & made a trip to Mendocino. We will come back & stay at your home again in the future. Thanks again. Yukie, Eraj, Hirom, Takashi & Saiyra

I was here with my daughter & son-in-law in July of 2007…it is as beautiful as I remembered. This time, my hubby and 2 “children with fur” came with me and they all have fallen in love with what I call “Mendocino Home.” Your home is the ONLY place I will stay when we visit.!!! We truly appreciate being able to bring “our boys” as they had the time of their lives. We walked on the beach every day in the rain and had it all to ourselves. We made memories with our “pack” that will be treasured forever! On our last night, we were graced with 3 deer on the mountain, 7 deer across the street, a rainbow over your home, and the brightest full moon ever! We will be back, but not SOON enough for me. We’re back! We were here for a week in January and came back for a weekend to celebrate Bruce’s 59th birthday. Your home once again worked its magic! We are sadly reluctant to have to leave but feel refreshed and ready to face reality again. So much to do on the Mendo coast, but we are happy to stay close to home – walking on the beach, watching movies, relaxing in the hot tub and by the fire. Your kitchen is a joy to cook in! Your home always exceeds our expectations. Looking forward to our next stay! Bruce & Susan Cloverdale, CA

We stayed at the Corey House for a week in January, had such a restful and relaxing time that we came back for a weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. This is the nicest vacation home on the Mendocino Coast! Beautifully maintained, beautiful setting, filled with all the amenities one could want. The kitchen is a joy to cook in. Enjoyed lounging in front of the fire, watching deer from the hottub, walking on Irish Beach! Highly recommend this vacation rental to everyone. There is so much to do on the Mendocino Coast, but we were happy to stick close to home there. I just booked our third stay for a weekend in August, that is how much we love staying there!

The house was excellent. The last home we stayed in had a nice location right on the bluff, but was older and a bit more money. Your home is much newer and up to date, and obviously high quality construction and finishing throughout. We appreciated the attention to detail, were very comfortable there and hope to stay there again. The dogs loved it. They enjoyed staring longingly at the wildlife through the back windows. We've stayed at plenty of vacation homes over the years and yours is top notch with respect to quality, value and location. Only complaint, our stay was too short! Thanks! -Derek
