We stayed at the Cozy Bear Cottage in early May 2010. The home was comfortable and cozy, as the name suggests. A high chair and porta-crib were provided for our two-year-old, which was extremely convenient. A few toys were also available. The kitchen and dining area are small, but were more than adequate for our needs. The family room had a gas fireplace, satellite tv and a selection of movies. The bed was extremely comfortable! It was a convenient home base for our visit to Yosemite National Park.

Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car.

Our family of four just stayed 3 nights in March 2010 and had a great time. Our Cozy Bear cottage accomodations were comfortable, clean and indeed, cozy. Rates were reasonable and the place is within a 30 minute drive to Valley Floor, great to be so close after a full day of hiking. The owners are such nice people and made our stay a pleasure. We will definitely stay here for our next trip to Yosemite. Highly recommended!!!!

I just spent 3 nights in one of the Cozy Bear Cottages. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast on the patio where we were visited by Steller's jays and quail. We were relieved to see no live bears! The cottage is quiet and comfortable and well located for visiting all the attractions in Yosemite Valley and also the Mariposa Grove and the Wawona Hotel. The owners live next door and couldn't be nicer. I highly recommend this cottage.

Its a great place to stay and very close to Yosemite Valley. We came to stay in Yosemite valley for two days but our flight got delayed and we could only stay one night. They (Cozy Bear Cottages) were very understanding and even helped us book another cottage so we could stay the second night. The cottages were execellent; very warm and cozy, alot of aminities, soft beds. It truely was a home away from home. The owners were very nice, helpful, and go way out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We are definitely coming back and staying at Cozy Bear Cottages next time. Thanks again, Trisha and Mike

The duplex cabin had all the amenities you would expect and more. The washer/dryer was a bonus. We highly recommend Cozy Bear. The cabin was clean and nicely decorated. The owners were very professional over the phone and quite pleasant in person. They live right next door.

We loved our stay at the Cozy Bear Cottages. It is located in Yosemite West, which is an easy half hour drive to Yosemite Valley. We booked short notice for President's Day weekend. The owners were very nice. They let us check out late on Monday, since no one had booked the cottage for that day. We really appreciated that.

                  Year Purchased: 1996

About the owner: We, Neal and Carol have just celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary. We have 5 children who are grown now. We take so much pride in Cozy Bear Cottages .We built and decorated Cozy Bear all by ourselves. Cozy Bear is strictly a mom and pop run endeavor. We do not have anyone working for us. We do all of the cleaning and maintaining of Cozy Bear ourselves. . We fell in love with Yosemite while on vacation when our children were young and returned year after year until we had the opportunity to purchase and build Cozy Bear Cottages. Cozy Bear was and is a labor of love. We love meeting people from all over the world. We have found that people are the same wherever they originate from. Everyone loves their children and wants them to learn and experience the majesty of Yosemite and the joy they experience in exploring and discovering the awesome beauty of Yosemite. Seeing Yosemite through the eyes of a child is like experiencing Yosemite for the first time even though you may have been here many times.

Why the Owner Chose Yosemite National Park:
We, Neal and Carol first built our own home here in Yosemite West and we had planned on spending our retirement (golden years here.) Then, life stepped in and Neal's job of 27 years came to an end. We vacationed in beautiful Yosemite every year with our children and wanted to live here more than anything and now we had the opportunity to make our dreams come true. Initially it was scary making the move because we still had one child at home but it turned out to be the most beautiful and exciting adventure of our lives. Cozy Bear Cottages has really been a labor of love including building and decorating it ourselves. The area that we were from became gang infested and we didn't want to raise our last child (twenty years difference between our first and last child) in a dangerous environment. It took some time to be able to make the move up here but when Neal's job came to an end we thought that it was the worst possible thing that could happen to us and it turned out to be the best possible thing that could have ever happened! We had one child at home who was eleven years old and didn't want to come up because all of her friends were down South. It didn't take long for her to make friends up here who are still her best friends ever! We have one daughter who married a young man from Yosemite and they also have vacation rentals up here. and do what we do. We have another daughter up here who works for the company and is the retail manager of the South end of the Park. Having two children already up here made it easier for us to re-locate. We have a son and daughter in Southern California who come up whenever possible and our youngest daughter has a real love for animals and will be graduating from UC Davis as a doctor of veterinary medicine. She loves coming up here and studying all of the wildlife. Living in Yosemite has proven to be a wonderful and fulfilling life for Neal & me, our children and grandchildren.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Each season up here in Yosemite has its own beauty. Spring time we witness the falls in all of their glory. It is amazing to us the power that is in those falls. Watching the rainbows as they paint a spectacular picture across the magnificent falls Summer, we enjoy the hiking and rafting. Floating down the river and watching Half Dome and El Cap. and watching the families as they raft, picnic, and enjoy all of the beautiful flowers in the meadows and throughout the Park. Driving and walking through the 'Big Trees' and remembering a poem that the man who built the Golden Gate Bridge who said 'Fall down oh traveler, on your knees, God stands before you in these trees.' Fall, is so beautiful and funny! The colors are changing and leaves are falling. Squirrels are gathering food for the winter and we watch them as they build under ground condos throughout our property and claim it for their own. They drop pine cones from high up in the trees and sometimes it seems like they are waiting and aiming for us so they can drop the pine cones directly onto us. They are adorable! Winter, is the most beautiful time of all. We feel like we are in a Currier & Ives setting but more beautiful than any hand-painted picture could be. We watch as snow falls and icicles form in front of our windows and off from our deck. Badger Pass is running full steam and children are learning to ski. It is a very quiet and awesome experience that we feel so blessed to be a part of.
