Nestled up against Greybeard Mountain, in historic Montreat is this deluxe mountain cottage where you can feel the cool mountain breezes in the hot North Carolina summers. This house, built in 1997 was designed to easily accommodate two large families. Sit and enjoy a family meal at the dining table that seats 14. Listen to the night noises of a screech owl or cicada as you relax in the evening on the spacious screened porch. A fully equipped kitchen has everything you have at home and more, and a new home theatre system and wireless broadband internet provides connection to the outside world (if you desire it).
Kids enjoy foosball, hiking, rock hoping in the streams, playing basketball, tennis, or the Montreat clubs for kids. During the summer, enjoy throwing a pot on a potter's wheel at the Sally Jones Craft center or take a paddle boat ride on Lake Susan. Montreat Conference Center hosts a variety of conferences for all ages sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (USA). Hear a sermon preached at Anderson Auditorium by one of America's finest preachers. Bushwack up behind the house and catch the gray blaze trail that will take you all the way up to the Lookout Mountain summit.
Asheville (the Biltmore Estate, the Grove Park Inn and Resort) are 20 minutes. Lake Lure is 25 minutes. Enjoy white water on either the French Broad or the Nanahala. Skiing is available 75 minutes away. Drive 1 hour to the summit of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain on the East Coast. Drive 1 hour to the Occunaluftee village in Cherokee. See live Shakespeare performed at the Asheville Center Stage.

We had a wonderful time! The house is very cozy and was perfect for our family of five, although it large enough to hold more! Owners were prompt to answer questions we had about the house. The house was clean and well-maintained. Montreat is a wonderful place for a family-friendly vacation. We would definitely rent from this owner again and highly recommend it to others looking for a place to stay in Montreat.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family (12 of us, ranging in age from 1 to 63) spent a glorious weekend at this property in early April. The unseasonably warm weather added to our enjoyment, but even if it had been freezing cold, we would have enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful--warm, welcoming, nicely decorated and well-equipped, very clean--we could not have asked for a more perfect place to gather. We enjoyed walking down to the lake and playing at the fabulous playground nearby, however, the hike back up the mountain was another story!. We went shopping in Black Mountain one day, but mostly just enjoyed each other on the screened porch, by the babbling brook, around the large table, and in the family room. I had some questions in advance that were quickly answered by email and one question that came up while we were there was answered by the local contact. The price was exceptionally good for 5 spacious bedrooms, 3 baths, and all of the amenities. I have already recommended this property to several friends and we hope to return there for another family gathering in a couple of years. Thanks for the memories!

I would like to say that my family enjoyed our stay. This house was even more beautiful than we thought. The pictures don't really do it any justice. If ever given the chance to stay in Montreat I would definitely recommend this property.
