This large, luxurious two-bedroom/two-bathroom loft with 17-foot high tin ceilings is owned by a filmmaker and is situated in the heart of the most sought after area of Manhattan - trendy and quiet Tribeca. Located on Walker Street, two blocks from super-hip restaurants, chic nightlife, SOHO boutiques, designer stores and art galleries, and walking distance to Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street, the East Village, the Lower East Side and the Hudson River. This is the ideal stylish home base for sightseeing, shopping, exploring culinary delights and walking around “sceney” SOHO. Taxis are right outside the door and 15 different subway lines are within walking distance and they'll get you to Central Park and/or Midtown and the Broadway Theater district in less than 10 minutes.
You’ll have a jaw-dropping sense of arrival as the elevator opens directly onto the top floor and into a 2000 square foot loft. You’ll be greeted by palm trees and antique Nepalese chairs with guardian dragons to protect you, along with cool stairs leading out to the fire escape balcony with wind-chimes and a birdbath. The comfortable living room has incredibly high ceilings and sunlight pouring in through 3 immense windows overlooking Walker Street, which has served as the setting for many movie locations and celebrity sightings. The state of the art entertainment system features a Sony 56' LCD w/ HD digital cable/DVR, and a Blueray DVD player within a 9-foot high/wide library shelf, atop of which rests a primitive African Buddha and antique hat stands. The beautiful living room is furnished with modern artwork, a custom-made 10-foot leather couch, vintage art deco lamps and club chairs, an antique wine press and an iconic 14-foot neon sign once featured in the movie "All That Jazz".
The grand dining room features an antique Mongolian wedding chest, an actual “gargoyled” New Orleans street lamp and a huge surgically wrapped stainless steel dining table (which seats 10) which sits atop 19th century printing-press legs. 25 feet away there is an open office area with a restored vintage metal desk (with a Herman Miller office chair), wooden 1970's auditorium chairs and photographic prints taken in mainland China. Contemporary artwork also hangs from the walls in this area.
The stunning chef’s kitchen, sun-drenched from the giant skylight above, is fully equipped with a breakfast bar and 4, 1920's bar stools. It's a complete, All-Clad kitchen with many first-rate kitchen appliances in case you decide to dine in.
Stairs lead up to the guest room with a Queen bed, art deco dresser and more hanging art. Below, there is a fully equipped main office area with a desktop computer, printer/fax, bookshelf and walk in closet.
Giant photographic prints featuring Hollywood icons are suspended above antique theater chairs in the gallery hallway which leads past a full guest bathroom and finally, to the master bedroom.
The master bedroom is fully furnished with a California-King bed and two vintage dressers. The master suite has a romantic, bohemian feel with Mexican mirrors, antique lighting, 12 foot ceilings, three more immense windows and a walk in closet. An over-sized chair and a wall-to-wall library shelf is located on the opposite end of the large room. There is an en-suite tile bathroom equipped with a rain-shower, and an antique dental cabinet which serves as a linen closet.
There is wireless connectivity throughout the loft as well as central heat and air conditioning. Throughout the loft there are plants, antiques, and fine art on the walls. It also has a washer/dryer located in the corridor between the kitchen and master bedroom. Towels and sheets are provided by the owner. There is a buzzer/intercom security system installed in the building for the protection of the tenants.
