Owner response: Glad you had a relaxing time and it was nice to have you back for a return trip. Your timing was good I believe you had some great weather. Plus its just a good time to be at the Lake you have it all to your self! Come back anytime we will leave a light on!!! Oh, we are looking into wifi for next season. Take care from the Hoffman Family!

The house was beautifully restored and very clean. The only bad thing was the proximity of the house to the busy road. The two bedrooms in the front of the house got a lot of road noise, but if the air conditioner was running it drowned it out. It was also noising when sitting on the porch, but the covered porch was very nice otherwise. The back yard was also very nice. The only improvement I would suggest is cable TV. Just a note for people putting in jet skis at Raystown, don't use the Aitch boat launch. It is mostly a fishing area. The no wake zone is extremely large. Use Tatman Run boat launch. We enjoyed our week!!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the review and sorry for the noise not sure if something was going on at the fair grounds or not? Noise normally is not a problem. Yes, Aitch boat luanch is huge, we have had guest think it was Lake Raystown! But it is a great place to put in becuase the traffic is light and there are some great fishing areas not far away. Take care and come on back next year! The Hoffman Family...

The home definitely has considerable charm with an open lower level and bedrooms on the second floor. We enjoyed the backyard, fire pit and grill. We ate in everyday which was very cost effective. We went to Trough State Park and went hiking. The rigor was appropriate for our 4 year old and 2 year old. We could have spent all day in the state park but had to get the kids back for naps. The Lake is georgeous and a lot of fun. Bring your favorite DVDs for the kids and they will be happy during down times as well!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the review, and there is plenty more sites to see in Raystown country!

Had a wonderful time with friends at Hope House and on the lake. It has become an annual tradtion and we always have a wonderful time. It is so nice to come back to a house with a full kitchen, shower and nice family room where can all gather after being on the lake all day - yes ALL DAY. (A boaters dream - swimming, skiing, tubing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, fishing, jet skiing, jumping from the rocks, hanging out at the beach, watching fireworks, jumping from the rope swiing and picnicing on the boat or on shore. The Children love to play in the yard while the men grill on the deck and the ladies whip up the rest of the meal in the air conditioned house. Later the adults hang out on the deck and the children can make smores on the fire pit. The joys of camping with the luxuries of home. Can't beat that. Owner asked if there were any complaints. We told him the kitchen table leaned and he was repairing it before we left. Great memories with Great FriendsRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great response. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back any time just give us a call!

Hope house is a great value and one of the nicest homes in the area. It was clean and well maintained. The house is owned and rented by two families and all our interactions were friendly and helpful. There is no cable or Internet connection but it was nice to unplug for a weekend. We had decent data coverage on AT&T phones anyway. We spent most of our weekend out doing things and Hope house was a stress free place to crash at the end of our busy days. Overall a great weekend relaxing with our friends and family.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you and your family had a nice stay. Come on back to visit again sometime. Don't forget you can make this home base for the weekend and run up and catch a Penn State game! Take care from the Hoffman's.

Our family had a great stay in this home. There were five adults and a baby, and we did not feel too cramped. The only downsides were that there was only one bathroom, no dishwasher, and the house is right in town so it there are other homes close by. But, regardless of those things, our stay was wonderful. The house is close to the lake, state parks, and other interesting tourist spots. It also has a nice covered back porch with a grill and table, a yard with a fire pit, plenty of parking, and air conditioners in each room. The owners of the home were also very accomodating and friendly. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this home to other Raystown Lake visitors!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

The Guys Getaway - We've made a yearly trip to Raystown fall fishing for a few years now and have always enjoyed the lake and the local hospitality. Hope House has become our new "Go To" for lodging. Seven men stayed here and truly appreciated all aspects of our stay. Thank you and God willing we will return next fall.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Some of our best times were just hanging out here, talking on the porch, watching ovies and counting our blessings in the Hope House. Enjoyed the fruits of your labor with all of the exposed brick, etc. Thanks for sharing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: The Hoffman family. Brian, April, Kristin, Kari & Kaitlyn. The Swope family Kirby, Tonya, Garrett, Brett & Tabitha are not pictured. Thats how we came up with the name 'Hope House I' the Hoffman & Swope families.
Why the Owner Chose Raystown Lake:
The Hoffmans and the Swopes grew up in the area, and after having families of their own they decided this would be a great way to give back to the community they love and encourage others to come and enjoy all that Raystown has to offer.
'At the HOPE HOUSE circa 1843 if only these walls could talk!'
We also enjoy helping folks with there stay by recommending things to do and sites to see. Since we came from the area we have some inside advantages.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Location, Location, Location...It is located in Marklesburg population 215. The town will welcome you. You can chat with the neighbors or wave at locals as you walk the streets in the evening. Hope House is midway on the Lake, between Seven Points Marina and Raystown Resort. Trough Creek State Park is just a short drive away. Or you can walk to Aitch Boat Launch/Recreation Area. From water parks in the summer to ski resorts in the winter. Caverns to tour and Penn State football to watch. From Old Steam Railroads to ride and Historic Iron Furnaces to see. There is something for the whole family.
