Why the Owner Chose Raystown Lake
The Hoffmans and the Swopes grew up in the area, and after having families of their own they decided this would be a great way to give back to the community they love and encourage others to come and enjoy all that Raystown has to offer.
"At the HOPE HOUSE circa 1843 if only these walls could talk!"
We also enjoy helping folks with there stay by recommending things to do and sites to see. Since we came from the area we have some inside advantages.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Location, Location, Location...It is located in Marklesburg population 215. The town will welcome you. You can chat with the neighbors or wave at locals as you walk the streets in the evening. Thank you for sharing your lake house with us. We had a grteat family vacation. At first, we were disappointed by the lack of cable TV or Internet, but later in the week, we realized that it provided an opportunity for better family activities. It has been a realxing week. We would recommend Trough Creek State Park for hiking and biking, Ritchey's Dairy in Martinsburg for Ice Cream, and the Cafe at Raystown Lake Resort for a nice meal. The baitshop at Runk's garage (a few miles north on 26) is a good place for fishermen. We had a satisfying week.

We all had a wonderful time here. It was very relaxing. We spent most of our time on the deck. The kitchen and living area was very cozy and open. The only problem we had was the refrigerator was broken, but the owner of the house took his time and had it fixed for us, thank you. Other than that, the Hope House was very nice.

We had a great, relaxing time visiting here. Many hours were spent out on your nice porch. The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked & the house was roomy for the six of us. It would have been nice to have a small half bathroom up stairs for us senoir citizens. Otherwise we were very satisfied. The Meisel's MD The Milani's PA The Weaver's OH

Trough Creek State Park is highly recommened! The hike to the balancing rock is very beautiful. Flowers and water line the trail. The hike is moderately easy. On the other end of the park, there is a historic iron furnace with information, as well as a trail to an old cemetery. This hike is less than half a mile and very easy.
