Hope house is a great value and one of the nicest homes in the area. It was clean and well maintained. The house is owned and rented by two families and all our interactions were friendly and helpful. There is no cable or Internet connection but it was nice to unplug for a weekend. We had decent data coverage on AT&T phones anyway. We spent most of our weekend out doing things and Hope house was a stress free place to crash at the end of our busy days. Overall a great weekend relaxing with our friends and family.
Owner response:Glad you and your family had a nice stay. Come on back to visit again sometime. Don't forget you can make this home base for the weekend and run up and catch a Penn State game! Take care from the Hoffman's.

Our family had a great stay in this home. There were five adults and a baby, and we did not feel too cramped. The only downsides were that there was only one bathroom, no dishwasher, and the house is right in town so it there are other homes close by. But, regardless of those things, our stay was wonderful. The house is close to the lake, state parks, and other interesting tourist spots. It also has a nice covered back porch with a grill and table, a yard with a fire pit, plenty of parking, and air conditioners in each room. The owners of the home were also very accomodating and friendly. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this home to other Raystown Lake visitors!

The Guys Getaway - We've made a yearly trip to Raystown fall fishing for a few years now and have always enjoyed the lake and the local hospitality. Hope House has become our new "Go To" for lodging. Seven men stayed here and truly appreciated all aspects of our stay. Thank you and God willing we will return next fall.

Some of our best times were just hanging out here, talking on the porch, watching ovies and counting our blessings in the Hope House. Enjoyed the fruits of your labor with all of the exposed brick, etc. Thanks for sharing.

We had a great time with our family. The location of the Hope House was ideal - close to Aitch Boat launch, Trough Creek Park and the resort. Enjoyed the open floor plan of the main level, fire pit and porch.

We stayed at the Hope House for three nights so that we could attend our daughter's graduation at nearby Juniata College. It was an easy 20 -minute drive to Huntingdon and a perfect place for the family to spread out and visit. We loved the back porch/yard and the walk to the late. We also met some very welcoming and helpful Markelsburg citizens at the antique/gift shop, the beagle house, and at the house next door. It was so much nicer than renting hotel rooms and having to spend time and money in restaurants. A lovely spot!
Owner response:Deborah, Glad to hear you and your family had a nice stay. It is very close to the college. Any time you want to come back to the lake just ask we will help you with your stay. My wife and I both grew up in the area a can give you ideas on things to do and see. Thanks, from the Hoffman family

What a delight & blessing. We sang @ the camp fire ring. Praised god as the stars sparkled & the flames danced. The bluegrass band at the amphitheater concert had us clapping and the cruise on the princess added extra zest of fun. We hope to see you again. Fantastic and thoughtful owners!

We had a relaxing winter weekend at the Hope House. It is well furnished and the kitchen well stocked. The location is great for anyone who wants to be close to the lake and main roads. We recommend Trough Creek State Park and the Balanced Rock Hike. We will be returning with our four children. Great place for an affordable price. Thanks Kirby Adam & Nelly

Thank you for sharing your lake house with us. We had a grteat family vacation. At first, we were disappointed by the lack of cable TV or Internet, but later in the week, we realized that it provided an opportunity for better family activities. It has been a realxing week. We would recommend Trough Creek State Park for hiking and biking, Ritchey's Dairy in Martinsburg for Ice Cream, and the Cafe at Raystown Lake Resort for a nice meal. The baitshop at Runk's garage (a few miles north on 26) is a good place for fishermen. We had a satisfying week.

We all had a wonderful time here. It was very relaxing. We spent most of our time on the deck. The kitchen and living area was very cozy and open. The only problem we had was the refrigerator was broken, but the owner of the house took his time and had it fixed for us, thank you. Other than that, the Hope House was very nice.

We had a great, relaxing time visiting here. Many hours were spent out on your nice porch. The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked & the house was roomy for the six of us. It would have been nice to have a small half bathroom up stairs for us senoir citizens. Otherwise we were very satisfied. The Meisel's MD The Milani's PA The Weaver's OH

Trough Creek State Park is highly recommened! The hike to the balancing rock is very beautiful. Flowers and water line the trail. The hike is moderately easy. On the other end of the park, there is a historic iron furnace with information, as well as a trail to an old cemetery. This hike is less than half a mile and very easy.

The house was lovely and we had great weather the entire time. The hiking at Trough Creek was great as well as the time spent at the lake. The four bedrooms were perfect for our family, although the one bathroom was sometimes a squeeze. (11 guest!) The deck was great and the little kids loved playing in the backyard. We enjoyed out stay at Raystown. The house was very clean and worked well for four couples to stay at. It is in a quiet town not far from the lake and close to other activities. We enjoyed the back deck and grill, especially with the local farmer's produce available at this time of year. Would plan to stay again if in the area next year.

We enjoyed it's proximity to Lake Raystown, Seven Points & the lakes beaches along with the many atractions in Huntingdon, Altoona and the surrounding area. Our kids enjoyed the shaded back yard and the playround at the neighborhood park. This made for a great vacation for our family!
