We stayed at this house in early September for a family reunion. Cyndi worked well with us as we coordinated our stay during the booking process. The large dining table, the pool table and the backyard patio set with the large BBQ were the highlights of the house during our stay. We did many fun activities nearby during the day. Be sure to sign up for LivingSocial.com before your planned trip to get discounted coupons for fun events you may not normally do. The GoCars (at 50% off) were a blast! In the late afternoons we then gathered together for appetizers on the patio and a big family dinner each night. The house worked wonderfully for us. It is spacious and had plenty of room for the aerobeds we needed. We found the kitchen and bathrooms adequately supplied and used many of the beach items. I would recommend this house if you are considering a rental in this CA area.

This lovely home was close to everything, eating areas, Aviara for tennis, beach and more. The home was lovely and adequately clean. An upgrade and organization of kitchen utensils would help. The owner was wonderful and available to us. I would recommended this home to anyone......

The house is everything the pictures reflect. Its a great location to Sea world, Legoland, the beach is just a short distance. The neighborhood is friendly and a great place to do some walking. We enjoyed our stay very much. The owner is awesome and always easy to reach. I will reccommend this property to all my friends and also plan to stay there again!

We stayed here for 10 days. It was a very nice stay. Nice back patio, HOT BBQ, Lots of space in the house. We used the bike and sand toys that were availible to us in the garage. My kids, who are picky sleepers said the beds were extremly comfortable. All the bathrooms are nicely remodled and very large. We had fun with the pool table and huge entertainment system. Very easy access as it is near I-5. THe house is about 5min away from Moonlight beach.This is our favorite beach and was easy to get to from the house. All in all it was a very nice stay!

Our Famliy fun at Legoland...It was a perfect house for us..1O of us total. Much better than a hotel and with lots of room...either playing pool,upstairs playing wii or watching TV. How wonderful to have 3 bathrooms, furnished well and very confortable beds.. Great location to Legoland and close to stores and beach. Wished we would have had more time...hope to come back and spend more time.in carlsbad. Cyndi was great to work with,quick response and very helpful...wonderful perk with her being able to purchase discounted legoland tickets. would definitely recommend this home.

Family Friendly

We stayed in March and the house was perfect. The jacuzzi upstairs was perfect for washing kids hair, it has a pull out spray. The pool table was great for the rainy days. I was able to workout (zumba) in the garage and gave the power stand a try. Cynthia was great during booking, very helpful. I would recommend this house to everyone. This house is centrally located to get to everything. The outlet mall is less than 10 minutes away. The Zoo and Sea World were less than 30 minutes away even with traffic. Joe's Crab Shack in Oceanside was a 10 minute drive. The neighborhood is friendly and safe too.

Beach House

Our family enjoyed staying in this beautiful beach home with our family. We loved being so close to the beach and it was a great in-between place for Sea World as well as Disney Land. Cyndi was wonderful to work with and we appreciated all that she did to make our trip a positive experience. The house has many wonderful rooms and spacious bathrooms that made it really comfortable. We all enjoyed the pool table and it was a favorite with the kids. I definitly recommed this place and will stay there again if we get the opportunity.

This is a very affordable option when vacationing in Carlsbad. The house is very accomodating and the owners are extremely polite and professional. The beach is about a 10 minute bike ride away, and the house is centrally located near other wonderful Carlsbad attractions. I definitely reccommend this house to others looking to rent, and would stay here again.

Family Vacation

Since my decision to rent this property was based on the positive feedback shown in the "Comments" I feel I need to share my experience. The property was as shown in the photos, the location was fantastic and the owner seemed quite pleasant in our correspondence. I did find a number of things within the house were not as I would have expected. I found the linens and some of the towels were quite worn. In one of the bedrooms, the bed skirt was safety pinned together. There were ants on the kitchen counter. We were warned in the notebook provided us upon our arrival about the possibility. We were extremely clean and had to buy two different ant repellents with the second one finally making a difference. The dishes were mismatched with the plates having many chips. Also there did not seem to be a full set of drinking glasses(a lot of plastic from Legoland though). The potentially wonderful outdoor space had very little usable outdoor furniture. We were disappointed since it really would have been nice to sit outside and enjoy the great weather. We ran out of propane after only using the barbeque two times. The meal we had started we were able to save by grilling it in the oven, but what a hassle! The double garage with one space available to us was not usable. There was so much "stuff" in the garage that some (exercise equipment that was not easy to move) overflowed into the one parking space that was to have been available. Since we had no remote garage door opener I guess it didn't present as much of a problem as it could have. I realize that all of the comments shown have been positive but having rented a number of properties through VRBO I found this one to be quite disappointing. Perhaps my expectations are different than other who rent.

Owner response:There is now a glass patio table, umbrella and four newly padded chairs outside, in addition to other seating. Most of the exercise equipment has been removed from the garage to free up space. Owners will fill the BBQ propane tank when guests empty it or reimburse the cost. Worn dish towels, plates, cups, etc are removed when the cleaning crew or Owners discover them. We do store mountain bikes, exercise equipment, laundry products, beach chairs, a cooler, etc in the garage, but there is room for one car to park. The house is regularly treated to discourage unwanted pests. Please let Owners know if something is not satisfactory and we will do our best to correct the problem!

The Shearwaters place was just what we needed. Offered the privacy and comfort of a home AND LOTS OF SPACE for a reasonable price. We had 4 boys ages 5-11 and were able to get in and out of Anaheim, San Diego, and Legoland from this as our home base. All the amenities the listing offered were in place. All quite nice yet family friendly, too. The owner was easy to work with and the contract is straightforward. She was helpful with information and communicated quickly while we were making arrangements. We sure do appreciate the ticket discounts which were used with no trouble at all! We would readily recommend using this property and/or working with this owner.

Great home, great location - gated neighborhood and at end of cul-de-sac. My wife and two kids (5 and 8) and I met my wife's brother there for Thanksgiving. House worked great for us - pool table added a nice dynamic for all of us. We're runners, so it was nice to know that we were only a 10 min. jog to the beach with fantastic running as far as you'd want. Convenient location - very close to freeway (but far enough from it that it's not a bother) and main arteries like Rte. 101 and Paseo del Norte. Owners were clear and quick to communicate on everything. Easy to work with. We would rent here again.

My (extended) family consisting of 6 adults and 4 kids recently spent a week in this beautiful home. The home is very spacious that having 10 people didn't feel cramped at all. The pool table and swimming pool were big hits with the kids! The drive to San Diego, even during peak traffic hours, wasn't as bad as we thought. We love that beach chairs/towels/toys were available for us to use (which saved us some major packing!).

GREAT HOME, GREAT LOCATION, GREAT OWNERS TO WORK WITH. THE HOME HAS EVERYTHING WE COULD IMAGINE. THE POOL TABLE WAS A BONUS WITH THE KIDS AND KEPT THEM OCCUPIED FOR HOURS IN THE EVENINGS. Very convenient home in a quiet community. It was very comfortable, with plenty of room for the six of us. It was safe (gated community) and central – Legoland, the Zoo, and SeaWorld were just a short drive away. The pool was just down the street and easily accessible and our kids enjoyed it every day. The home is well appointed and decorated and easy to relax in! We would highly recommend this property and would stay again if visiting San Diego!

Great house with everything you need and more. Lovely community and the pool is very close. Had a great time hiking the lagoon and hitting the beach, all within a mile. Legoland, beaches, nice outlet mall, tons of restaurants, the interstate, all are incredibly convenient. A great family home-base for some San Diego-area fun.

Large spacious house in a quiet gated community with pleasant neighbours. Swimming pool is within walking distance. Good location for day tourist travel to San Diego (~30mins) or Disney (~65mins). Legoland very close by. Small sandy beach is just a short drive away. Lots of restuarants nearby. Would recommend this rental.

It was a very nice, well-equipped house. Our family of five enjoyed their stay in the house. It is very convenient to Legoland and had a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby. It was about a 30 minute drive to the airport, the Wild Animal Park and the San Diego Zoo.
