My family really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and perfect for hanging out together. The kids loved the air hockey table and spent alot of time in the loft. We also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen for preparing meals, the fireplace, hot tub, and the awesome views. Although we didn't get snowed on (as hoped), we had a great time tubing at Tube World and gem hunting at the Gem Mine.

Recommended for:Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family spent 7 wonderful days at Mountain Gem and enjoyed every minute of our vacation. The views were amazing especially when the snow moved in across the mountains. We had everything we needed to cook, play, relax, and enjoy being together at the holidays.

Our experience at this rental was great! The cabin was nice, well furnished and provided very nice views from the front deck. Since this cabin is pet friendly and Geoff is very accommodating we were able to bring our dogs and not have to worry about leaving them in a kennel all week. They loved going for rides in the mountains and playing in the creeks. I would definitely recommend this cabin!

Our stay at the Mountain Gem was great! The cabin was clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. We felt right at home. The mountain view was beautiful and the hot tub was great too! We enjoyed making fires outside on the fire pit. That was a plus!! The location was good...not to far from anything. Everything we did was about 20 - 30 minutes away so that made it even nicer. We had a really great time in the mountains and look forward to going back next year!

This Cabin is one of the best we have stayed in! The views are awesome! The cabin is very well equipped and spacious!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Mountain Gem". The cabin was beautiful, very comfortable, and the owner was a pleasure to deal with. We hope to return to this cabin in the future if possible.

We spent 4 days at this beautiful cabin and had an amazing time. It is completely equipped, everything we needed was there. The view from the hot tub was beautiful, and we enjoyed making smores with the outdoor fire pit. Both the owner, Geoff, and the real estate managment company were a joy to work with. It was extremely clean and well-maintained. Overall, very positive experience and I would recommend this cabin to everyone!

My family and I stayed at the Mountain Gem Feb 18-21, 2010. We all had such a wonderful time. Geoff is absolutely amazing. He made sure all of our needs were met before and during our stay. This is the first time I have ever booked on VRBO and Geoff and his rental agent have made this such a wonderful experience. The weather was amazing. Plenty of snow on the grounds for the kids to play in. Our bigger kids LOVED the hot tub. The cabin was very spacious and had everything we needed. When we plan our trip next year, my family and I will definately remember the Mountain gem!!!!

We had a wonderful time at Mountain Gem! We went last weekend during a winter wonderland and were very comfortable. The kids LOVED sledding down the property in the snow, warming up by the fireplace and playing air hockey and foosball in the loft. We adults enjoyed hiking up and down the mountain, warming up in the hot tub and making wonderful meals in the well equipped kitchen. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us (4 adults, 4 kids.) The kids took over the breakfast bar, while we enjoyed relaxing meals at the table. The 2 main floor bedrooms were very comfortable, and the kids stayed together upstairs. As for the area, the views were breathtaking as we were pretty high up (1.2+ miles up the mountain). The house owner and management were fabulous -- they both responded quickly to our needs and questions about the area. Our only disappointment was that Cataloochee wouldn't let us up the ski mountain because we didn't have 4 wheel drive and were likely to get stuck, so we'll have to come back for skiing! We were snowed in at the house most of the weekend, and only got to 1 restaurant, Garlic Knots, for lunch by Cataloochee. It was perfect -- buffet pizza, salad and garlic knots, after building up an appetite from tubing. Thank you so much for a great vacation. We are looking forward to staying at Mountain Gem, again!

Our family had a great time staying at Geoff's "Mountain Gem". The house was beautiful,comfortable, and the view was incredible.The kitchen, and rest of the home,had everything needed to have a nice stay. Geoff was very helpful in arranging our stay and when we had questions after arrival. We were fortunate to have over a foot of fresh snow! The kids had a wonderful time playing in it and tubing down the slope right outside. They also loved the air hockey and foosball. Mom & Dad enjoyed the view from the deck hot tub after a full day of chasing kids. The gas fireplace was awesome and easy to enjoy at any time. Family movie time in front of fireplace was a great way to wind down before bedtime. Internet allowed us to send pictures to family everyday. Thanks for sharing your home! Bill & Heather

This cabin is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. Owner is super friendly and we are very thankful that he has allowed it to be shared with others. You can't beat the great mountain views! I highly recommend this rental to others. We will most definitley be back!
