Classic Montmartrois Apartment in the Heart of Abbesses

This lovely apartment is located in the heart of the delightful Abbesses district, an area which has long attracted an artistic community and is renowned for its village-like atmosphere. Small, but perfectly formed (38m2), our apartment is on the third floor of a traditional Montmartrois building and is the perfect base from which to explore Paris, or just to relax and watch the world go by. Sacre Coeur is only a few minutes walk up the hill, as are also the last vineyards in Paris and the only two remaining examples of Montmartre's once numerous windmills.
We aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible. On arriving you will be greeted by our American liaison in Paris who also speaks French, and who will be able to answer any questions you may have.
This south-facing apartment (which is secured by digicode) is very light and sunny and is on the third floor (there is no lift but the climb is not arduous!) overlooking rue Durantin which curves round and heads down the hill looking towards the brick-clad church of St-Jean Evangeliste on Place des Abbesses. Although removed from the main hustle and bustle of the area, the apartment is nevertheless moments away from the rue des Abbesses with all its shops and restaurants.
The flat comprises a main living room with a fireplace and two double-glazed french-windows facing the street, with the bedroom which is divided from the living room to the rear. In the living room there is a dining room table (which is extendable) and a long contemporary sofa which additionally folds flat and sleeps one adult or two children comfortably. There is a flat screen television with cable connection (French and International channels) with a DVD player and a wide selection of DVDs.
There is also a telephone for local calls, as well as wi-fi internet access. We also have an MP3 consul which allows audio connectivity for mp3 and other players. There is also a collection of carefully selected guides and general reference books. The bedroom has a king size bed and a large built-in cupboard with ample storage.
The compact but fully-equipped galley-style kitchen is incorporated into the living room and contains a two-ring electric hob, a Dualit mini oven, toaster, fridge with freezer compartment, and a washing machine with built-in dryer. The bathroom to the rear of the apartment has a small bath with shower, sink, lavatory and a heated towel rail. There are original oak parquet floors throughout.
Public transport: There are excellent bus and metro services. The nearest metro is Abbesses (Line 12) which is just a few minutes walk away. Metro Blanche (Line 2) is also just 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Nearby you will find bus 95 which in 10 minutes gets you to the 'Grands Magasins' (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette) and the rest of the Haussman shopping district.
The 95 then continues on to Opera, stops directly in front of the Louvre Pyramid, crosses the Seine to Saint Germain des Pres and goes to Montparnasse. Bus and metro maps will be available to you at the apartment to help navigate your way around the city. The apartment is a 20 minute walk from the Gare du Nord.

My husband and I spent two weeks in the apartment and absolutely loved it. Prior to our arrival, Gail worked closely with us to ensure all details were sorted out. She responded to emails quickly and answered questions thoroughly. The apartment was clean, organized and fully stocked with kitchen utensils, linens, books, movies and other necessities; and Perfectly Paris had prepared a binder with maps, restaurant suggestions and complete instructions on how to use everything in the apartment (TV, washer/dryer, etc). It sits just above the hustle and bustle of Bd. de Clichy, so it's quiet but the area itself has so much to offer. We got brunch and espressos up and down Rue des Abbesses, and found a favorite boulangerie for sandwiches and croissants. Each night we walked up the hill to the area surrounding Sacre Coeur to window shop and watch the sun set, as well as to see the light show on the Eiffel Tower. Perfectly Paris was a pleasure to work with - we'll look no further the next time we need a place to stay in Paris. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My daughter and I were fortunate to stay in this lovely apartment on our first visit to Paris. I was a little nervous at first as I don't speak French and haven't traveled "solo" overseas, but my worries were allayed as the apartment was very comfortable and the neighborhood (Montmartres) quite amenable to travelers. The apartment is even nicer than the photos show and was clean when we arrived. It is a bit of a hike to get up all the steps but that got easier as the week progressed! And I was glad to have the small bathtub for soaks at night. The apartment is only a couple of blocks from the Abbesses metro station so it was quite convenient (note: make sure you utilize the elevator in the station as the steps are quite numerous) The small store across the street and the local boulangeries and markets kept us supplied in delicious necessities. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to a friend or relative who is traveling to Paris -- perfect for two adultsRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My wife and 2.75-year-old and I spent two stints of 4 days in this lovely Parisian flat. It lives up to its descriptions online. It is beautifully appointed. The kitchen has a full complement of quality kitchen utensils which is huge when you're buying local food right down the street and cooking it up! The bathroom is correct with great water pressure and enough hot water. The bathtub was great for the kiddo. The little reading library is a priceless collection of books about Paris and France in general. The bed is comfortable and the bedroom is completely silent at all hours because it's on the courtyard, not the street. The 4-th floor walk-up is not bad because the stairways are wide and you have half-floor landings, something pretty rare in Paris. Finally, you can't beat the location. Rue des Abbesses is a one block away and you have two metro stops within minutes. There's a cute little playground right behind the building. You could spend your entire trip in this quarter and never run out of things to see! I highly recommend this apartment for the true connaisseur of Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The apartment is just as the photo indicates. My husband and I stayed here the month of March 2011 and had a wonderful time feeling as if we were a native of Paris. It is on a quiet street just one block from all the restaurants on Rue Abesses and two blocks from the Abesses metro station, so very convenient. Everything that we needed was in the apartment. The manager, Karla was so patient answering our emails, about 20 all totaled and was very helpful when my husband became ill. Paris actually has doctors that make house calls, amazing! We tried about 10 of the restaurants in Montmartre area and we were happy with all of them so it would be difficult to pick just one. Since we stayed a month, we became familiar with both the metro system and the buses which were so easy to use to get to all the tourist areas. Don't bother to bring your tour guide books, there is a collection of them in english of all different sizes and maps too. There are 54 steps to the apartment as there is no elevator but at 66 years old, I was able to climb them and by the time we left, we climbed them very easily--our personal StairMaster, who needs a gym. If you walk to the right along Rue Durantin to Rue Caulincourt and turn right onto rue Caulincourt keep going and there is a Franprix supermarket then if you keep going on the same street you will be in a purely residential area with neighborhood restaurants and shops, no tourists. Delightful. We will be back again. Thank you for making our month so memorable.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

I stayed here for five nights in late September 2010 and couldn't have been happier with my stay. The apartment is just as the photos show - very stylish and clean. It's a great size, with the apartment not being too small or too big. Perfect for a single or a double. Even a third person could sleep on the couch very comfortably. The location was really good, not too close to all the activity of the Moulin Rouge, but very close enough to walk there. It's felt like a nice, quiet and safe neighbourhood. It's still quite touristy, but also didn't feel too overrun by tourists. The owner was great to deal with and responsive to my questions and requests. Even when I arrived much earlier than I anticipated, I was able to stop by the apartment to pick up keys and drop off my luggage even before it was completely cleaned up for me, just so I wouldn't have to lug my suitcase around Paris for my first full day there. I'd recommend this apartment to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

To all paris lovers, this is the place to be. Secure, safe location is the number #1 priority. Secure entrance, must be able to climb 3 flights of stairs as there is no elevator, no big deal, it's your chance to walk off the great food and wine that you'll find in the area. Just a few blocks from Basillica Sacre Cour and other great attractions. Just one block from the metro. Apartment had everything that was listed, it even had a plug in for my ipod and speakers so that I could play music. Great selection of movies in the apartment if you just want a relaxing night in. Don't bring your phrase book or maps, there were plenty to borrow in the apartment. Open the huge windows and let the sun fill this apartment and you'll never want to leave. We would come back to this apartment again. BEST VALUE, BEST LOCATION AND VERY FRENCH!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a fantastic little apartment in a great area of Paris. It is super close to the Metro and buses making it easy to explore the city. However, the best part is being part of a wonderful village-like atmosphere. In just three days we had a local bar where we liked to sip wine outside before shopping along Rue Abbesses or Rue Lupec for fresh baguettes, cheese and champagne. After having walked and explored most of Paris, we felt rather smug at having out little place to come home to. The apartment is cozy and cool. I loved the little patio lights around the bedroom doorway. It has the world's smallest tub, but I squeezed in each night anyway to enjoy a glass of wine. Great Paris themed movies to watch on the flat screen TV, interesting guidebooks to read, and a small but completely functional little kitchen. We LOVED it! Wish we owned it...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
