This wonderful Hawaii Vacation Rental is located 500 feet above sea level, overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, not far from the quaint town of Hilo and Honomu. Hilo is about 11 miles or 15 to 20 minutes away from home and is where you will find shopping, beaches, restaurants, & many tourist interests. Hilo has a breath taking bay where the cruise ships dock and last year a whale had her baby in there. Honomu, also, has shopping, famous bakery, restaurants, and is almost walking distance from home. Our vacation home is on the east side of the island and is the considered the green side or tropical rain forest side of the island, the west side of the island is sorta like Arizona, very dry. The high mountains, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa keep the rain from traveling to the west side of the island. Manua Kea acutally is the tallest mountain in the world, besides Mt. Everest. It's name means "white mountain", and does have snow on it.
Our "GREEN" vacation home is environmentally friendly and is a solar home with a rain water catchment system for water. The home is in a rural area and is nestled on two tropical acres with a gravel road to home. Since it is in a tropical rain forest, the views from the home are the beautiful ocean, banana orchards, sugarcane, tropical plants, and on clear days majestic mountain views of Mauna Kea.
There is a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and sink with everything you need to prepare a great meal. The Living Room is also a wonderful gathering place that has a welcome feeling with a gas fireplace, comfortable seating, and a beautiful ocean view. The Dining Room also has a wonderful ocean view and is a great place to enjoy breakfast. The Master Bedroom has a comfortable King Size Bed with a breathtaking ocean view to wake up to every morning. The two other bedrooms offer Queen Size Beds with wonderful mountain view. The living room has a sleeper sofa with a queen bed. This great vacation home can sleep up to 8 comfortably and has one private bath.

- Akaka Falls State Park is only a few miles from the home. This park offers a walking path loop that takes you to a 440 foot water fall which is one of the tallest and most beautiful on the Big Island. Honoli'i and Hakalau Bay Beach Park is just a short drive from the home. These wonderful parks offer surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, and a nice beach without all the tourist. There are many beaches to explore on this great island!! Hilo is a quaint town not far from the house. Hilo offers: shopping, restaurants, museums, town open market, and many activities to do in this great jewel of a town. Waipi'o Valley is also a great place to visit and is about 1/2 hour North from the home. This is the Valley of the Kings and is the most beautiful place you will see on the island. Volcano National Park is about 45 minutes South of the home and is a great place to watch the island grow!!!

Our family, Steve, Jane, Matt, and Mike, has fallen in love with the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii. The people are wonderful and friendly. It is the perfect place to enjoy a Hawaiian vacation of a life time. We have been to the Big Island many times, and have found it to be our favorite place to be. We truly want you to feel like our rental is your second home away from home, so you will find everything you need at the home to have a comfortable stay. Our son, Michael, is now going to the University of Hawaii in Hilo and is playing baseball on the team. He will be taking care of the home for us and lives in the studio apartment under the house and will try to help you have a great stay at the home.
