This was a great little apartment perfect for our stay. Clean, well appointed and amazing view of the gorgeous blue sea. The apartment is also opposite the bus stops for the service that runs along Kihei road, it's only a dollar and a really good service. The management company that looked after the unit were very helpful, and Hera had a welcome basket delivered which was lovely! There's lots of useful things in the apartment such as boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach umbrellas. Also a cooler, my one suggestion would be some ice blocks for the cooler in the freezer. We improvised with freezing a couple of bottles of water, but couldn't fit everything in. There's a small concierge service in the main office, and they were great for booking some trips. We plan on coming back to Maui, and when we do we'll be seeing if this apartment is availlable.

Amazing unit!!! It is exactly as advertised. The furnishings, linens, kitchen essentials, etc are all of the best quality. Talk about clean and organized!!! The view from the lanai is amazing and many long hours can be spend just enjoying. The complex is small by some comparisons and nicely maintained. Majority of the residents are repeat renters or owners. Love the hot tub and BBQ area. Close to everything in Kihei. I liked being more north away from the bottleneck around the big beaches. The beach here is good for sitting and small walks. If want more "play and social" beaches, you can get to them quickly. I loved Sugar Beach which is just a short drive. Can walk but I liked to start at Kihei Canoe club. You can then walk for miles or find that perfect spot for play. This really is an amazing unit for the price. I miss it already!!!

I have been to the Hawaiian islands several times before, and my time at Hera's condo has by far been the best. If you really want a lazy and restful Hawaiian vacation that feels as if you haven't traveled an inch from your doorstep then this is the place to stay at. Hera has this condo stacked with everything from any kitchen appliance you might need (for those times when you don't feel like restaurant hunting), to beach supplies. In addition, the convenient location of this condo allows you to stay close to the city while at the same time having the beach right outside the property. I can guarantee that this condo is the perfect place to stay, proven by the fact that my return is inevitable.

We chose this condo after reading the reviews and were not dissappointed one bit. We loved the convience of all the extras Hera has in the room to use as your own while staying. All the appliances you could want if cooking in as we did most of our own meals. Property well maintained , great service and easy to work with in the office and owner. Can't tell you much about restaurants as we only took in Mama's Ribs for take out and they were good. Warren and Annabelle's magic show is a must see if you are a first timer to Maui. This is great place to stay to rekindle your relationship with partner, very serene and quiet. Loved it

I read through most of the reviews on this site and they are pretty much all right on and that is what made us decide to stay at Hera’s condo. The unit is clean and well maintained, the view is beautiful, and the location couldn’t be better. What really makes this a great place to stay is that you only need to bring your own food and beverage. If you want to cook some of your meals to save some money, Hera stocks the kitchen with most of the things you need. We used the bbq’s several times as well. We spent many of our days visiting all of the many great beaches just south of Kihei and loaded up our car with all the beach gear that she provides. One money saving tip I’ll give here, is that if you want to go out for breakfast in morning, look for a advertisment in the desk drawer, or ask at the office, for a 2 for 1 deal at Moose McGillycuddy’s. They have great breakfasts and a nice ocean view if you can get one of the tables up front. We went 3 times because it was cheaper to go there with the 2 for 1 deal, than to cook breakfast ourselves. I will definitely come back and stay at Hera’s condo again when we come back to Maui again sometime. Thank you Hera for making your condo such a great deal and nice place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was quiet, convenient and was fully stocked with all the amenities we could have asked for, and then some! The availability of the snorkel and beach items was a huge plus. The condo is well appointed, especially when compared to others in the complex. The welcome basket was a nice touch. It was not there upon our arrival but the management company was very responsive in providing it once we alerted them to this minor oversight. There is a lovely BBQ area with several gas grills by the pool. The BBQ area and grills are cleaned daily and made a great location for family gatherings. The unit is close to the elevator and laundry area but neither could be heard from our unit. The location is fairly centrally located and close enough all the attractions. We had a wonderful time and would enjoy staying here again the next time we are in Maui.

We recently stayed at the condo and it is a great place to stay. Kihei is conveniently located to get everywhere around the island and unlike the west part of the island, doesnt get the large traffic jams! the condo is in a neat building, right by the sea with a great view over the water and the mountains of West Maui. The condo is well equipped and conveniently located to lots of stores and restaurants. The owner was great and rang and emailed to check that everything was ok, definitely recommend it for those looking for a nice, affordable property on Maui

Just returned from Maui over the 4th of July and had the best time ever. Hera's hospitality and the condo itself was the best. The neighborhood was so convenient to take evening walks and we didn't need to use the A/C hardly at all - weather was wonderful - not too hot at all. We had quite a bit of unexpected wind in the afternoons, but it kept the heat away and didn't really bother us at all - kind of exciting! Drove all around the island and up past Lahaina several days and didn't take us too long at all. It was good that we stayed in Kihei because we were in the middle of the island and could travel anywhere in a short period of time. We both agreed, we would definitely stay there again. Thank you again Hera for helping us enjoy a great vacation. Till next time, Marilyn & Greg

Hi Hera, Thank you so much for your condo in Kihei, you have a great second home. We had a great time in Maui and got to see the whole island in a short period of time. We would definitely stay at your condo if we came again, and perhaps try out the pool since we did not even get a chance to jump in. If we hear of friends heading in that direction we will surely recommend it to them. And thanks for the HUGE pineapple in the gift basket, it was delicious. Regards, Leo and Rhonda.

"We are considered by our friends to be "Maui Dogs" as we visit Maui every year for the past several years. We have always stayed at Village by the Sea and have rented several Condos. Hera's condo by far made us feel like we were home. It is beautifully decorated and the extras put in the Condo makes you feel welcome. The ocean views from the living room and bedroom are fantastic and it is like heaven waking up to them. On arrival to the condo we were welcomed by Hera with a fabulous basket of Island treats again another wonderful experience and added touch. From the moment we registered with Hera, the instructions and valuable hints as well as picking up the keys to our final day's visit makes our minds up that we would most definitely stay again at Hera's."

Wow...my wife, toddler and I just stayed in this condo...It was great...It's in a good location in Kihei, just up the road from 3 grocery stores and several excellent beaches...The view from the lanai on the 6th floor was great...I don't even know how many whales I saw breach in the water just off the shore from this condo complex, it was pretty cool...The condo complex has excellent BBQ facilities and great pool amenities with a soothing hot tub to soak into after dinner... As our flight arrived later in the evening we had to grab our keys from the property manager's office, it's literally a 1 minute drive away from the condo...The condo owner and property manager provided excellent directions on how to gain access to the condo after hours... The welcome basket was a nice touch as well... I wouldn't hesitate staying at this place again...and I would recommend this place to anyone...

This place is great! We'll definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Maui. Hera (the owner) was very helpful from the beginning. She gave us her opinions when we were doing planning, even before we confirmed our stay. Once we confirmed, she sent us lots of recommendations and suggested itineraries. She even gave us a call before we headed to Hawaii. The moment we set foot in this unit, we were welcomed by a gift basket on the kitchen counter from Hera. The unit looked exactly like what's shown in the pics of the site. It's very spacious and clean. The ocean view was spectacular. Hera's very thoughtful as she's provided everything you'd need during your stay. The full kitchen has all the applicances and accessories - blender, ziplock bags, cookwares, alum foil, baking trays, tubberware, detergent, condiments.. we can't list them all but basically, you don't need to bring anything for your cooking. For the enjoyment of your trip, Hera also provided a binocular (good for whale-watching, Haleakala, etc), beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, fins, snorkel, a big beach umbrella, etc... There's also a copy of "Maui Revealed" book which is a very good reference / guide book for your trip to Hana (and everywhere else in Maui). There's also a full bookshelf of books and lots of CDs & DVDs if you just want to take it easy and relax. (She's got some good choices of Hawaiian music in her collection). Wifi and wired internet are both available. The connection was stable throughout our stay. There is also a phone (with phone number) that you can use to make local calls. Hera called us twice trying to make sure everything was good during our stay (we missed both her calls unfortunately). The elevator and laundry room are right across the hallway so it's very convenient (but we didn't find it noisy at all). The parking spot is very close to the nearest entrance of the building. Karen at the Concierge was very helpful too. She provided lots of directions and travel info, and also helped us to book side trips. The only "problem" we had, was finding the office to get the keys at the beginning. The office is not located in the building, but further south in a plaza called "AZEKA". The unit # display of the office is not very clear. We spent quite a lot of time to locate it. (it's inside the plaza, a few stores to the left of Tesoro gas station ). Overall, it's a wonderful stay. Close to perfect!

Stayed at Kauhale Makai (Village by the Sea) Unit #608 and had a great time! First of all, the condo’s location is central to anywhere you want to go on Maui (Hana, Haleakala, Lahaina, Kahului, Wailuku, etc.). It is close to some very nice swimming/snorkeling beaches, and grocery/drug stores are only about a mile away. It has a nice pool and the grounds are well-kept. But…the best part about staying in #608 begins when you walk through the door of the unit. Inside, we were greeted with a gift basket of sweet pineapple and goodies from the owner, Hera. This was later followed by a phone call from Hera to ensure our satisfaction. (Note: Even before we left for Maui, Hera was already taking steps to ensure that our needs will be met. She also gave very useful recommendations to help make our vacation enjoyable.) This is customer service that can’t be beat! The condo has ocean and mountain views, so we enjoyed sitting on the lanai to watch the beautiful Maui sunsets. You don’t even have to be on the lanai to see the view as it can be seen from the living/dining room, bedroom, and kitchen. The beach here is too rocky for swimming but is a very nice area to go for a quiet early morning walk as my husband and I did. The condo is clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen, with beautiful cabinets and granite countertop, is equipped with all the amenities we needed for cooking meals, including a rice cooker and a blender. On the property, there are several gas bbq grills which are always kept clean. We used them to bbq for our dinner a few times during our stay. This unit also has what we needed to enjoy the beach(beach towels, a boogie board, snorkel gears, beach chairs and umbrella, beach mats). There is also a cooler to use for picnic lunches. When we got up at 3:30 a.m. for our sunrise trip to Haleakala, we were pleasantly surprised to find insulated coffee containers to take our coffee to go! The owner has thought of everything. I can’t remember needing something that we didn’t have. As a bonus, the laundry room, which I noticed is also kept clean, is conveniently located across the hall. Kauhale Makai #608 was our home in paradise. Not only would I stay here again, but I would highly recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you Hera!

We used to always stay at the resorts in Maui. Although nice, they were also very, very pricey. Those days are over now that we have stayed in this condo. Hera's condo is immaculate and I was very impressed by the gorgeous way the unit was decorated. The kitchen was great in which to cook our own meals and we grilled almost every night on the BBQ's located by the pool. We were very impressed by the way the condo looks identical to how the pictures were posted. No surprises here folks--what you see is what you get. Thanks again Hera! We loved the condo and the welcome basket. Can't wait to come back!

We were the first in Hawaii. After Honolulu and Kauai was Maui our last stop at our trip. The e-mail contact with Hera, was in advance of our travel friendly and cordial. When we arrived the condo was very clean and nicely decorated. We could check in early and Hera has just asked on the first day if everything is in order. The equipment is complete and in very good condition. The view from the lanai is great. The location was ideal for our holiday. For all the good points but unfortunately there was also a point of criticism. The central air conditioning of the building is located directly above the Condo. It was a continual drone sound heard. At night, this was already disturbing. We still had a great time in Kihei.

Hera (the owner) was very accomadating, extremely organized, forthcoming, honest and called within a few minutes of us settling in to welcome us. She really made us feel welcome in her home away from home. LIttle things that came up were promptly dealt with, and the condo staff were very friendly - a cleaning lady took time to give us a mini tour of the condo complex when she saw that we had difficulty locating the entrance to the elevator when we arrived late at night. The condo was spacious, well lit with lots of sun coming in from the lani, spotlessly clean, with lots of fresh linens (we were a group of 4), and had a variety of equipment we didn't expect: a boogieboard, snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach mats, even binoculars to watch for whales! The kitchen was well equipped as well making it easy to make fresh fruit smoothies in the morning (we made good use of the fruit in the welcoming basket!), whipping up a tasty bbq for a large group at night - a dishwasher up to the task of cleaning up afterwards, and tupperware to pop leftovers into. The ironing board and iron came in super handy for pressing out last minute wrinkles before we dashed off to a wedding. Located away from most of the city noise, it was also an easy drive to restuarants and shopping in central Kehei, Wailea or a slightly longer juant out to Lahaina. The beach attached to the complex is ungroomed, though there are plently of nice beaches within driving distance. The attention to detail and care by Hera and the staff at this condo sets it apart from the many private rental properties available in Kehei. Truly a delightful place to stay, and will definetely be back the next time we're in the area!

My husband & I were guests from Oct 10th - Oct 19th. The condo was very clean and decorated beautifully. Since it is located on the 6th floor (top floor) we were able to turn off the air-conditioning during the day, open the sliding doors in the living area and bedroom, and feel a great breeze throughout the condo. The view is fantastic and the condo quite relaxing. The beach area is not really a swimming beach, but a swimming beach area is only a short walk from the condo complex. The condo complex is very pretty, with a great pool, and very nice grilling area. Stores of all types are only a few minutes down the road, such as drug store, grocery stores, & multiple restaurants. Kihei has lots of beaches and it is ideally located on the island. While in Maui, the "must do" list is a visit to the Maui Tropical Plantation...taste the homemade ice cream....out of this world! (The tour was very informative too.). ALso, the Road to Hana...beautiful, a Luau, snorkeling, & dinner at Buzz's Wharf (pricey...but worth it). Thank you Hera for providing us with the wonderful gift basket...the pineapple was the most delicious we have ever ate, along with all the other goodies. Thank you for providing us with such an affordable, homey, beautiful place to spend our vacation. We have fell in love with Kihei. We hated to leave....Aloha!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hera's condo. She had incredible customer service and was so accomodating. She also had a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. The condo was clean and fully equipped with everything needed for cooking, cleaning, entertainment and basic living necessities. The view from the lanai is gorgeous, although the beach right by the condo is not the greatest. However, there are so many beaches within a close distance that this was never a problem for us. We would definitely recommend this condo to our friends and would love to stay there again should we ever get back to Maui. We really enjoyed learning to surf and would also recommend attending a Luau while you're in Maui. Hera also gave us great suggestions on where to shop to find the best prices which was really helpful. Some restaurants that we really enjoyed are The Five Palms, the Pupu Lounge and Sansei Sushi bar. Another piece of advice...rent a car and pick up the latest edition of "Maui Revealed" and don't leave home without it! The road to Hana was incredible and that book is the bible of Maui.

Aloha Hera, We'd like to thank you for a wonderful time we had in your condo in Maui! Everything was perfect! We started every morning with a fresh fruit smoothie at lanai with beautiful views over the bay! Also, thank you for letting us use the snorkeling gear - for snorkeling, we went to Turtle Town (at the end of Makena Road). If you go early in the morning, the water is very calm and the views of the corals and colorful fish are amazing (we went at the further side of the beach closer to Molokini crater). We saw several turtles the last morning we were there. Mahalo and we cannot wait to come back! Regards, Nikita and Elena.

This condo unit has panoramic view of the ocean, Ma'alea harbor, and those amazing Maui sunsets. It was clean and well equipped with the usual (and unusual, such as baby crib, boogie board, snorkeling equipment, IPod alarm clock, etc.) amenities. One thing that (pleasantly) surprised us was a call from the owner on the day we arrived on the island! She called just to say thank you and asked us whether or not our condo is in good condition! We mentioned that we noticed one of the 3 light bulbs over the vanity mirror in the bathroom was broken. Well, a short time later someone from her property manager's office showed up with a fresh light bulb and changed it. But thats not all ... we even had a welcome basket of tropical fruits (mangoes, pineapple, and papaya). Now thats what we call SERVICE! Needless to say, if I'm lucky enough to go back to Maui in the future, I would not hesitate to rent from her again.

My wife and I have not visited Hawaii for quite a few years and decided to stay somewhere other than Kaanapali. We were told of this condo by a mutual friend, who highly recommended it. Hera's condo exceeded our expectations. The unit was just as described, quiet, with a beautiful view of the ocean from the sixth floor. The lanai extends the full length of the bedroom and family room, accessible from both rooms. The kitchen was fully equipped with both major and numerous small appliances. It also had a number of beach chairs, snorkels, masks and other accesories in the room. The availabililty of the laundry across the hall was great. The pool had a large number of lounge chairs available and wasn't crowded, although we were there in the off season. Shopping and restaurants were close, as were beach areas where you could snorkel or surf. We would highly recommend this condo for anyone who simply wants to get away from crowds and experience Hawaii.

We spent two weeks in your condo and were really pleased with our experience. It was clean and had all of the amenities you could need. We arrived to find a nice welcome basket. The owner even called to make sure everything was going well. We've never had that happen before with other rentals! We were able to grill several times on the BBQ's by the pool which was fun for a nice quiet evening. The pool is clean (other than the leaves etc on windy days!). It was very quiet around the complex which made our relaxing vacation even better. The great think about this condi is how centrally located it is to everything. Restaurants, groceries, attractions, golf, you name it. Its why we choose this location.

Hera was very friendly and helpful over the reservation process. Her unit is exactly the way she has described, very good value for money. The welcome basket she has provided addressed to me personally was a bonus. The unit was clean and well-maintained. I love the kitchen being so fully-equipped, I can cook my children's favorite fried rice. Ice cubes were readily available when we arrived for a cold drink in the hot weather. The air-conditioning was great. I made very good use of the beach towels provided since we are at the water every day and those that I brought are just not enough to circulate. The best part is that Hera even provides the famous CD for the Road to Hana so we don't have to spend on that. The condo is quiet, hardly anyone using the swimming pool even though it's summer so we had the pool to ourselves. Also the unit is at 6th floor very close to laundry so we don't have to walk too far with the heavy laundry. The unit is close to restaurants, close to supermarket like safeway for grocery shopping, and close to shops for tourist activities like snokeling and surfing rental and lesson, also close to the Maalea harbor for snokeling trip to Molokini, very convenient. I will definitely recommend this to a friend and will return to this unit if I go to Maui again.

We stayed at Hera's condo for a week. From the reservation process through follow up upon our return, Hera's customer service was top-notch. This was our first condo rental and after reading horror stories about condo rentals online, we were a bit nervous and had a ton of questions; but Hera answered them quickly and made us feel very comfortable every step of the way. Our late night arrival meant we had to get keys from the lockbox, which we were nervous about but proved to be a cinch. The condo is in great shape and exactly as described in the pictures and video. Elevators and laundry room were conveniently located right outside the unit. The oceanview was amazing. We used the BBQ area, pool and hot tub which are very well maintained. Overall we highly recommend Hera and her condo to everyone without hesitation! Thanks again for such a wonderful stay!

We have stayed 3 times in this lovely apartment, and have highly recommended it to members of our tennis club and our other friends.Hera, the owner, has been wonderful-she keeps checking to make sure everything is in order, and has upgraded the apt. with new tile flooring throughout. The amenities are excellent, with a good kitchen, large TV and internet hookup(free). The feeling is one of real welcome, and her nice welcoming basket is just one sign of this. She is always readily available should there be any questions. One of the things we really nlike is the bedroom, which has a great view over the ocean and West Maui. We'll be back Hera, and many thanks to you.

Thank you Hera for checking on us, and for the beautiful welcome basket! We truly hated to leave after our two warm and wonderful weeks!

This wonderful one bedroom, one bath condo on the top floor was very clean and well maintained. From the comfortable bed and hide-a-bed sofa -- to the TV equipped with video and CD players -- to the CD music player -- this condo has it all. The kitchen has extra appliances not found in all rentals, such as blender and small electric grill. We received calls from the owner several times during our stay to make certain everything was in good order. The welcoming basket with Kona coffee and macadamian nut chocolates was a real treat. The ocean and mountain views from both the living room and bedroom are gorgeous. We especially enjoyed watching the whales from the lanai with the binoculars provided. This condo is easy to get to and is centrally located between Kahalui (airport, Wal-Mart, and Costco), Lahaina (outstanding shopping and dining in this old whaler's village), and Wailea (luxury resorts, shopping, and golf courses). We thoroughly enjoyed our six weeks here and have already made reservations for eight weeks next year. We certainly would recommend this unit to anyone who wants a relaxing and enjoyable time in Maui.

We rented this condo from 11/13/07 to 11/20/07. The care and concern for her tenants (us) was shown by Hera Tunggal even before we departed our home in Florida. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a basket of Hawiian "goodies". The apartment was clean and recently completely renovated. It truly felt as if we were in a home away from home. The swimming pool, bar-b-que area, and hot tub were all very nice to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The apartment is on the sixth floor with both ocean and mountain views. I would (and will) recommend renting this unit to our friend and look forward to staying here again ourselves in the not too distant future. I wish that all of our rentals were as beautiful as this one. Again, thank you Hera for being so thoughtful.

We love this unit! We have been staying in this unit since 2003 and stayed in this unit again for 3 weeks in February and March of 2007. The 6th floor views are breathtaking and the fact that both the bedroom and living room face the ocean is a plus. The building is about 700(?) yards from the ocean but has a sandy beach once you get there. That is important since not every condo property has a sandy beach. We have stayed in Kahana and paid 50% more for a unit that was not as nice as this unit. The furnishing are very nice and it has a comfortable bed! This unit is also air conditioned which is a real plus since very few of the condos on Maui are air conditioned. We recommend it to everyoe and have booked for this year.
