A lovely place to sit and watch the sun set over the Jemez Mountains
Location: Southeast, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA (east Santa Fe foothills)
Accommodations: House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Casita
My private casita on 5 wooded acres is a place for rest and relaxation. From the patio (provided with table and chairs and gas BBQ grill) sit back and watch the sunset over the Jemez Mountains and the lights of the city twinkle in the night sky. The casita, while secluded in a private wooded setting, is just minutes off Old Santa Fe Trail. Follow the Trail to town and you'll soon pass Museum Hill, Canyon Road and come to the Plaza.
At the casita, you'll have the best of both worlds, privacy and easy access to all Santa Fe has to offer; the shops, museums, galleries and of course our many wonderful restaurants. The casita has a separate bedroom with queen size bed and is surrounded by windows looking out on the trees giving it a treehouse feel. The separate living room is a delightful place to relax on the sleeper sofa with a good book or watch a movie from the well stocked bookshelves. When the evenings turn chilly, there is a kiva fireplace to warm you.
We have a brand new kitchen complete with laundry facilities. Whether your visit is a few nights or several months our aim is to provide everything you need to feel at home. If there is a kitchen item we have overlooked we will do our best to provide it. You can be assured it is a true home like atmosphere where you can sit back and relax without the need of bringing all the essentials and extras with you.
Also included for your convenience are TV/VCR with cable, CD/clock, hair dryer and iron and ironing board as well as a phone with unlimited U.S. calling and DSL. It is our desire to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We view the casita as yours while you are here and are available for any questions or in case anything arises. Owner's Profile
Owner Description
I am Semi-retired. I lived in Austin, Texas my whole life and first came to Santa Fe on my honeymoon in 1969. I have two amazing kids who are busy working in fields they love. I was in the green industry prior to having this vacation rental. I love to share stories and information about my adopted state, New Mexico, but respect my guests’ privacy. I am here to answer any questions or help out if a need arises, but consider your guest home as yours while you visit.
Why the Owner Chose Southeast
I LOVE SANTA FE!! I had visited Santa Fe for over thirty years before coming to rest here. First I was the typical tourist, staying in hotels and motels. Over the years of visiting, I finally got what I wanted- a more home like experience, and I discovered a wonderful casita that I returned to year after year. The more I visited, the less I wanted to leave Santa Fe. So I looked for a permanent rental. What I found was the perfect guest house, and I fell "in love", but as with many love stories there was a catch. They put the property (5 acres with main house, "our guest house" and a casita ) up for sale. It was time to "fish or cut bait", so I decided to make a permanent move to Santa Fe. I bought the property that I had fallen in love with, and chose to share it with others. I hope all that visit will adore it as much as I do.
The Unique Benefits of this House
What I fell in love with was the privacy and quiet of this property combined with the convenience of being minutes from anything I could want. Coming from a larger city, I was tired of the hustle bustle and traffic I had to fight to get anywhere. What I found here is property that is secluded and quiet, but less than a mile off Old Santa Fe Trail (a two lane main road into town ). This property is at the end of a very small road that dead ends into my acreage. I am surrounded on all sides by undeveloped land. You can sit and watch the sunset and the city lights below and still hear the birds sing. While I have three houses on the property, they are spaced up a hillside with trees in between them, and can't be seen one from another except on the drive up. This further gives the feeling of seclusion and privacy. If you are like me, you will appreciate the coming home feeling that you get while you stay here.

Great Little Casita

My husband & I stayed at this casita for 3 nights & found it to be exactly what we were looking for - private, has great views, comfortable furniture, place to do some cooking & just relax. The pictures are true to advertising. The casita was clean & beautifully decorated with a southwest flare. It's only a 10 min. drive down the Old Santa Fe Trail to the heart of downtown. So while you are staying in "seclusion" you are really not far from the galleries, restaurants, & museums. David, the owner, was great & easy to work with! He was very attentive to our needs (while maintaining our privacy)- & provided several light bulbs that needed replacing in a very timely manner & made sure that everything was in working order. He also provided extra cooking dishes & utensils (several of which we didn't need or use) but if you want to do some extensive cooking - you have it. That also includes a gas grill - which we enjoyed doing some southwest grilling. Several other amenities were provided in the bathroom - soaps, shampoo, lotion, paper products, hair dryer, etc. with ample towels. There is no bathtub, but the shower was great with a shower head that provides several different settings of water flow -very nice! David was in the process of switching his VCR to a DVD player. So at our visit there were many VHS tapes but no DVDs to view. We had brought a few of our own to view so it was no problem but you may want to find out if there will be DVDs to view at your visit (or bring some of your own). He has a CD / tape /radio player to use if you want to listen to music. There were games & several books provided to read. I really liked a book that listed several different hikes you can take in the Santa Fe area. My husband enjoyed the books about Egypt. There were varieties for every taste. This is a great place for a single person or a couple looking to "get away from it all" without being too far from the city. Thank you David for a very wonderful & relaxing stay!!! We will definitely stay with you again on our return to Santa Fe!!!
