Hale Maluhia: peaceful, restful home

Built on a verdant bluff on Kauai's north shore (where South Pacific was filmed), with the legendary peak of Bali Hai on the horizon, Princeville has captured the island's grandeur. Located on a quiet cul de sac in Princeville, our home is surrounded by tropical landscaping providing incomparable privacy.

Princeville was named the Best Golf Resort in Hawaii by Travel and Leisure magazine. The Makai course, one of Hawaii's finest 27 hole layouts, is a scant 50 yards from this beautiful location. Imagine walking 110 yards from your 550 sq.ft. lanai to the #9 tee box on the magnificent Makai/Woods course.

Hale Maluhia (2467 sq. ft.) provides spacious, flowing living quarters. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on two walls of the dining area blend the inside with the outside creating the perfect area for entertaining or relaxing. The furniture is comfortable and all tables, dressers and dining chairs are teak. Cathedral ceilings in the living room open to a 600 sq.ft. upstairs loft which has a 32" LCD TV and game table. Each of the downstairs bedrooms has cable TV; all 3 bedrooms have phone and a private bath - two with walk-in showers suitable for 2. The upstairs master bath features a sky light. Australian cedar hardwood flooring and tinted concrete countertops are throughout.

Come and unwind, de-stress, relax and enjoy our tropical paradise.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes

Our first vacation was to Princeville and we immediately fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of the area. Close to more beaches than you can visit in a week, restaurants, and local sites and activities, Princeville has it all. It is truly a tropical paradise.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Being foodies, the gourmet kitchen is the center of our home. With two master suites plus another bedroom, we can easily entertain friends and family. We can sit on the lanai and enjoy the golf course and our flowers. Be sure to feed Roger, the cardinal, when you visit. He likes peanuts.

A
Hanalei Bay Beach Park

Rated the best beach in the world by Dr. Beach in 2009. Great for swimming, surfing and picnicking.

B
Anini Beach

Sheltered by a reef. Great for children and wind surfing.

C
Kilauea Light House

Furthest west in the US. Wild life preserve. Great place for watching whales.

D
St. Regis Princeville Resort

Spectacular hotel and restaurant. Views are unbelievable.

Everything you need

Aloha Nancy and Aj, I wanted to send a quick note of thanks for your hospitality. We truly enjoyed our stay in Kauai and having your lovely home to come back to after a long day of activities was especially comforting. I spent my mornings enjoying coffee on the lanai and my late afternoons doing the same – only with a Mai Tai! Having the three bedrooms and three bathrooms was very nice as well because it allowed us to each have our own space. We used the hot tub and grill and the kitchen had every possible gadget you could need. We also appreciated the use of the beach mats, cooler, umbrella, beach chairs, and boogie boards. I felt the location was perfect for North Shore exploring. We weren’t too far from any of the famous beaches and explored many of them during our stay…..a favorite was Hideaways. Thank you again for everything! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this home to anyone and hope to get back next year! Mahalo, Lynn

"Hi AJ, This is a long overdue mahalo for your hospitality. We had an excellent time on the North Shore as always. Your house is beautiful, I took full advantage of the kitchen & grill, and we enjoyed the hot tub & landscaping too - great orchids! I'm not sure when we'll be able to get back but don't be surprised when you hear from me again, ok? Aloha & take care, Steve"

We had a relaxing and memorable time, a great place to unwind. After spending the fishing it was great to be able to come back and grill up the catch of the day, and then relax with drinks on the lanai. The Hale Maluhia will be our only destination when we return to Kauai!!!! Thank you AJ and Nancy for sharing this treasure with us.

Great vacation home

Date of Stay: 10/11/08 Review Submitted: 10/25/08

The house is in great shape. Everything in the house seems new and there was plenty of room for our group of five. Our only problem was there were lots of mosquitoes, probably because there is a lake near the house. There are citronella candles on the lanai though. Overall, I'd recommend renting this home, it has been really well cared for.

We had one of the best vacations ever in this home. We met friends there, who also live in our downtown condo building, and had one of the most relaxing vacations to date. This home is in the perfect location for all of the local north side beaches, close to a large super market, and restaurants. The home has a great kitchen, and the layout is perfect with privacy for all. When at the house, we lived out on the large deck.
