Tankah villa description

This 2 bedroom, 2 bath, air conditioned villa on tranquil Tankah Bay offers luxury accommodation and amenities in a very private setting with 24X7 security in this gated community. Both bedroom suites have king size beds plus a sitting area and comfortable futon couch. It sleeps a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. Step through the handmade louvred doors onto your large terrace overlooking the Caribbean. Both bathrooms are tiled with Dorado travertine and have hand-made sinks. A 'Bali-style' shower for two is attached to the downstairs bathroom.

A fully equipped kitchen opens to the dining and living area. Or, BBQ some fresh seafood and enjoy your meals by the pool or on the beach at your handmade tree-trunk picnic table.

Outdoors at Playa Belleza is like having your own private resort. In addition to your private pool with kids area, there is sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking in the bay, or you can explore the natural tide pools and comb the beach looking for treasures.

When you feel like and adventure, there are ancient ruins, magical cenotes and fun restaurants in the area. Or, stay at your villa where you can relax, stroll through the garden, sway in a hammock with your favorite book, or your favorite beverage while overlooking the Caribbean.

Playa Belleza means ' beach beauty' . . .

The beauty of the white sands and turquoise water

The beauty of the gardens, the pool, and the villa
And most of all . . .

The beauty of having your own, private paradise in
the Mexican Caribbean.

If you want a little taste of the Mayan history and a wonderful view, Tulum is your place. Shops line the main street with colorful restaurants and excellent Mexican food, Italian, and seafood. The Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve has incredible beaches, pristine mangrove estuaries, and you can drive all the way to the little fishing village of Punta Allen . Coba has fewer tourists and 2 new cenotes The ancient Mayan ruins and village of Coba are located about a 40 minute drive west of Playa Belleza. Coba was the capital of the largest Late Classic empire in the Northern Lowlands. Coba is a mammoth ruined city, with one of the tallest pyramids in Mexico. This archaeological site sits amid 5 small, shallow lakes and is very impressive. Coba is known for its great length of occupation. And, you are allowed to climb the pyramid. Playa Belleza is a wonderful hideaway. It is indeed situated on the best part of a bay that is one of the special little bays along the Mayan coastline. The location, the gardens, the fun pool, the floor plan, not to mention the wonderful staff make this a great spot for 2 to 4 adults to wile away a day, or two ,or three, or a month! The amenities and services provided make it easy to pretend you are at a cool hotel. The husband/wife staff work very hard to make everything pristine. There is a pride of ownership that defies the fact that the "real" owners (and builders of this sweet spot) are not even in the country. The draw back is that you simply don't want to leave to go see the many ruins and other sights/experiences Quintana Roo is famous for. Let me not suggest this is a castle, it is a great little beach house paradise for up to 4. That's it! What fun!! We are cooks and the kitchen was easy to use, had all the basics we needed, along with an outdoor BBQ for grilling. We made the best margaritas ever and squeezed fresh limes daily to make sure no lime disease occurred on our watch! July and just used the Bogie fans. Oh there is a tight spiral stair case to the bedrooms. So not for you if you can't handle that. As to animal sightings: just off the sandy beach, angel fish the size of a serving dish, a manta ray 7 feet across, shark and tons of "dora" fish ( you know!) as well as so many other fish guys, and on site many iquana sightings, the VERY old osprey, a small blue heron, geckos ( that sing to you inside your thatched roof-remember they are our friends- at night), and last but not least the capybara and her babies that live next to the pool (look it up!). How can that be in this pristine garden, how fabulous! Blue Sky ( struggling under new mgmt) is still serving a mean pizza and other yummy food and the cenote is full blast for diving and snorkeling. As a BB and vacation house owner I give a double thumbs up to our hosts!

Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Thank you so very much for sharing Playa Belleza with us--we rented March 13-20th. It was enchanting. The house is perfect--there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there. We loved everything about it. We snorkeled/kayaked everyday. The house/grounds/pool were absolutely immaculate. Mauricia, Norma, and Maria were wonderful. We couldn't have been treated better. They cooked two fantastic meals for us, which were delicious. It was truly a vacation. Tankah is the absolute perfect location--we did the ruins at Tulum, Xel-Ha, a morning up at Akumal. Thank you also for the recommendation of shopping at Soriana on our way down to the house--we did our big shop there and filled in at San Francisco and the local markets. We were so glad we rented the car as we got a real chance to experience some of the local culture and cuisine. We really love this area and it's people. My kids said it was the best vacations we've ever taken---and that is saying a lot as we have traveled quite a bit. The only problem was that we wished we would have stayed two weeks instead of one!

Sherry & Jeff, My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed your villa on a recent visit this May. It was everything we expected and more. We will definitely be returning! If we had to think of one less than positive thing, it would be that we prefer to take 9 to 10 days vacation time and your villa could only be rented Sat to Sat. So we would be delighted if a 10-day rental was available next year (hint, hint!!)

We just want to let you know that we had a marvelous time at Playa Belleza! We LOVED the house - everything about it - the layout, the cleanliness, the privacy, the view, the outdoor shower, the pool, the beach, the kayaks, the cute local dogs (the black & white one was my favorite)... everything. It was so peaceful and relaxing, we had a wonderful vacation! In fact, we think it's the best house in all of Tankah Bay. And we have to give major kudos to Mauricio and his family. They took wonderful care of us. The house always looked great and Mauricio was incredibly helpful. Not to mention what wonderful cooks he and his family are! We had them make two dinners for us, both were absolutely delicious. We had a great time with him. So please thank him when next you speak to him - we weren't able to say goodbye in person. We would love to stay there again sometime. Thanks again! Shari & Tony Corona

From Our Guestbook: What a glorious week it has been! Your house far exceeded our expectations. Best house on the bay! The animal sightings were a highlight of our stay. We saw the iguana twice and also saw the resident osprey bet booted off his perch by a pelican. We hate to leave, but know we will come back next year.

From Our Guestbook: What a wonderful spot you have created! As an architect, I so appreciated all your attention to design & detail. It is truly wonderful how you sited the house back, with the verdant landscape such a peaceful foreground to the beach. And the beach! what a glorious spot we thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and snorkeling, and did manage to make a brief turtle sighting. Thank you, can’t wait to come back!

From Our guestbook: Your home is very beautiful! The best part of the house is the view of the bay and the bay itself. We saw lots of fish as we snorkeled. My 12 year old saw an eel and I saw a turtle pop its head up this morning. The kids loved the day at Xel Ha and Steve loved fishing with Captain Rick, but we both loved being here at the house best. Home to come again!

From Our Guestbook: What can I say about this private oasis - beautiful, calm, quiet, luxurious, romantic, and decorated tastefully with all attention to detail. Lots of snorkel gear included. Say, "Hi" to Pedro (the iguana) for me.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: Jeff and I lived in Mexico for 3 years. We built a bed and breakfast called Maya Jardin and ran it and lived upstairs while we built Playa Belleza. Maya Jardin is now a villa for rent as well. We have moved back to the US with our Cancun cat, Sony, and our chocolate lab, Chloe, who lived in Mexico with us as well. All of us are now enjoying the beauty of Washington state.

                      Why the Owner Chose Tankah:
We bought our lot in Tankah Bay in 2003 and received our permits in 2007. We wanted the villa to be small, secluded and romantic. Tankah Bay is beautiful, yet it is in a quiet residential community. We think snorkeling, swimming and staring at the Caribbean are why people come here, so that is why we chose this magical place.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Snorkeling, swimming, relaxing, and even splashing in the Manatee Cenote just 1/2 mile north of the villa.
