Welcome to The Dragonfly Ranch
Imagine waking to a vision of tranquil beauty... Stepping out onto a vast 3,000 square foot deck as your eyes take in the luxuriant view of horses grazing, wild flowers blooming, endless sky and an ocean view with not another house to be seen. Just you and the natural world nestled in the rolling hills of the central coast..
The Dragonfly Ranch was originally a portion of a historical 6,000 acre Spanish ranch named Asuncion (or to rise up), the Asuncion took it's name because of it's high elevation (1800 feet). The view is very similar to the Hearst Castle's as it is the same elevation, just more rolling mountains. The amazing thing is that half of the 6,000 acres is not even fenced so you can hike for hours without ever touching pavement or just walk the private 3.5 mile winding road.
This property is so unique that it is truly something one has to experience to believe just how magical it is.

Owner Description

Hello, my name is Kristine and I am holding one of my two daughters in this photo. We live in Manhattan Beach and own two rental properties, a condo in Aspen and Dragonfly Ranch on the Central coast. I love it when guests arrive at the ranch and they call me, sounding mesmerized and almost speechless. It makes me feel good to be able to share such an amazing place.
Why the Owner Chose Atascadero
We bought this rental property because some day we would like to live there full time. It is our dream property and I think it will be yours too.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The relaxing quality that the ranch has is unlike any other place. It is the perfect Central Coast getaway, a meal for your soul. One can't help but feel the strength of the land when they are there and everyday problems seem to not seem so important. It is a private getaway that will take your mind off anything in "real life". The only problem is, you won't want to go back.

Hi Kristine, what a beautiful place you have. We hiked up the hills, feed the horses, enjoyed the hot tub, and ate some wonderful meals(fish from Morro Bay and bread from Hush Harbor bakery). How fun to hear cattle mooing in the morning and watch hawks soar toward the ocean. I loved your decor and the very comfortable beds. Your cat is great and really a friendly greeter. We felt like friends who had been invited for a visit. We will gladly rent again. Thank you

I don't know where to begin. The property is absolutely beautiful. The land and the views are breathtaking. The ranch itself was perfect and built to enjoy the surroundings. There is a deck that you can easily spend hours on looking out into the hills and the ocean - and the animal neighbors (horses, wild turkeys). Inside the ranch is a great kitchen (which is very well stocked) and living area. The bedrooms (which aren't pictured) are lovely and extremely comfortable - I slept extremely well. Each room has doors that lead to the surrounding deck. The furniture and the decor are amazing - lots of great antique pieces throughout the ranch. We had a great time at the ranch. While we ventured out into town on a friday evening, we would've been perfectly happy staying at the ranch the whole time (which is what we did all day saturday). Some of us stayed at the ranch and drank mimosas on the deck while talking and taking in the view. A couple of us went hiking. While there aren't any clearly marked trails, it was very fun to just venture into the greenery. Dragonfly Ranch was exactly what we were looking for. Relaxing, comfortable, tranquil and private. We really felt like we "got away" for the weekend. This is a magical place. Kristine was fantastic during the entire process, from describing the property and what there is to do, to making sure we has everything we needed. She is a wealth of information and very generous in sharing in. Everything about this experience was fabulous!

This is a wonderful property if you are looking for independent and peaceful vacation options. The owner(s) are accommodating and gracious and the property itself is well-stocked which is important because it is somewhat remote from conveniences. We rented it for a family event and it was a wonderful gathering place for all, even though not all stayed there. The view straight out to the Pacific (some 6 miles away) is majestic and, when the moon is not a factor, the view of the stars is breathtaking. All appliances and conveniences are up to date. We would recommend a trip to Von's or Albertson's to stock up beforehand. Get coffee, juice, bacon and eggs, and prepare for a real ranch experience! Although I'm not an interior decorator of any ilk, I would say that the interior fittings are simply amazing and everyone said that whenever they took a second look, they noticed something different about their view. The resident cat's personality is almost worth the trip itself. The 3 horses are wonderful entertainment and very comfortable with guests. The drive from 101 to the ranch is not something to be taken lightly, because of the many cutbacks and steep drops, but it is well worth the effort! All of our group loved it and would go back again in an instant. Being East coasters, that's probably not practical, but we had absolutely no complaints about the place.

We had the most beautiful relaxing weekend here. It is a gorgeous, warm and romantic house with incredible views. Also, everything was so clean and ready for us, along with a thoughtful note from the owners which was so kind. The bed is so comfortable, and we just read and played games all weekend! Total Privacy and total relaxation in a beautiful setting. We can't wait to book our next weekend.
