Was back in this unit for 3 nights this trip. Awesome as always. Clean. Beautifully decorated. Where do you find the furniture for these places, Michelle? It's always tasteful and if it's not hand crafted, someone's going to an awful lot of trouble to make it look as if it is. The weather was a little dicey Friday, which was actually kind of good since it made me go explore more of Cancun than I ever have before. Saturday was stunningly beautiful and I really didn't want to get out of sight of the beach all day....a task easily accomplished from the bed by rolling over and looking to the right. You can add audio to this experience by opening the patio door. I really love this unit. Saturday night I ate at La Habichuela Sunset, which is right across from the police station in the hotel zone. The street front entrance is deceptively low key. The interior and the lagoon side patio make it one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever visited....also one of the most expensive, so be ready for some sticker shock if you go. And if you go, be sure to make reservations and make sure it's one of the nights when the Mayan dancers are there. Special thanks to Michelle for going above and beyond when I discovered I'd left my debit card laying on the bed after I'd already gone through security at the airport. She payed $20 to have a taxi driver bring it to the airport and it was back in my pocket with 30 minutes to spare before boarding the plane. I had hoped to be back in the spring, but it looks like it's going to be June again this year.

We had a great experience with this condo. Michelle is great, helpful and accommodating. We stayed 8 nights and would definitely repeat if possible. Locations is great. Beach front property with an incredible beach. Overall very nice building. Strongly recommended.

Our holiday in Mexico was superb, owing greatly to the quality of Michelle and Peter’s accommodations at Solymar, along with Michelle’s outgoing personality, sincere hospitality, and random acts of kindness. Michelle has clearly gone to great lengths to beautifully decorate and adequately equip their condos with amenities that make guests feel at home. We were also impressed by Michelle’s extensive knowledge of the Cancun community and neighboring islands. Before and during our stay, she frequently e-mailed to suggest splendid dining venues and destinations that added enjoyment to our explorations. Most impressive (and appreciated), Michelle cares deeply that her guests have everything they need to feel comfortable, secure, and relaxed. Before we even arrived, our entire transaction was easily facilitated by making a bank deposit in their US bank. Michelle also arranged to have a secure cable internet connection installed for us in advance. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Michelle and Peter to others.

My girlfriend and I stayed here on a very last minute get away. Michelle & Peter were able to accommodate us with less than 24 hours notice! They were on site to meet us and give us great info on getting around and saving money. She had maps and guides for us with all the best hot spots circled. We mentioned snorkeling and Peter told us about a great place very close by. The next day, there was another map slipped under the door with a snorkeling spot circled on it. It was only a 20 minute walk down the beach to a great reef! We happened to be there during a time when sea turtles came right up to the condo and lay their eggs! What a great experience! We never would have known to even look for them if Michelle had not told us. The condo is in a great location, has a clean, modern pool with a DJ, and is located in the center of the beach. We had some wind one of the days we were there, so the waves were great for boogie boarding. That day, my GF and I made our way down to the snorkeling area, there is a cove down there that stops the waves and stays calm even in the windy weather. The best of both worlds (surf and calm) within a 20 minute walk on the beach! Getting around is a breeze ...and cheap! For 8.5 pesos (about 75 Cents?U.S.) there are buses that come around just about every minute and they will take you all around the city. In some cases we weren't even at a bus stop and they still picked us up! I never had to wait more than 2 minutes for a bus. They will except U.S. $ too. (I gave them a dollar and they were happy to take it.) The condo itself is really very nice. You can tell Michelle and Peter have made themselves a HOME here, not just a rental space. The beds are clean, the kitchen is stocked, and the bathroom is immaculate....but more than that, the room is fixed up with pictures and nic-nacs that really give you the feeling of "coming -home" when you get in off the beach. It's a leap above the comfort of a standard cookie-cutter hotel room. Its much more personal, and feels more relaxing. Michelle shows obvious signs of having worked in customer service. Shes a great host and a wealth of information. She was even so kind as to ask us if we needed anything from the store one day when she was on her way out! Who does that!? We went in expecting just a room rental, but came out with new friends and a great place we know we can go back to in the future. I highly recommend you stay in one of their condos.

My most recent visit to Solymar in April was, as always enjoyable. I have been staying at Solymar for over ten years and it's only gotten better each time. I don't know what some of these reviewers are talking about because the staff has always been helpful and polite. I always use either the room safe or the registration desk safe if I have anything really valuable (as I do in any hotel I stay in world-wide.) The pool is always spotless and I feel the beach is the best on the strip. There is more of it and less rocks than at some of the most expensive hotels further up. The restaurant may not be the most exciting; but I much prefer to go into town where there are soooo many great eateries, you can find any kind of food you like and the ambience is always wonderful and most times, really fun. Why go to Mexico if you're only going to sit in your room? There's so much to do and see....and shop!! For the last few years I have always booked my room through Peter and Michelle Hermick; they live on site so no problem getting hold of them for anything. Michelle has worked in Cancun for years as a Concierge in one of the most expensive hotels, so she can give you lots of good, free advice on where to go, shopping and restaurants.. I ABSOLUTELY could not believe some of these reviews. Perhaps these people should have gone to a website for condos in Cancun like I did the first time I met Peter and Michelle; perhaps the hotel organization is lacking somewhat, but never the condo organization. I simply show up, go to their room and pick up my key, buy a Cancun Entertainment Card and I'm off on another fabulous vacation. I love having the option to have breakfast, a snack or even a full meal in my room because of the stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. There are local markets to buy food in (a very small one in the lobby) and a bus that goes straight to Walmart for supplies. The rooms I've stayed in have always been clean, well decorated, with fresh towels daily and the maid service exemplary. In fact, the room I stayed in in April had a slight, very slight, aroma of new paint; when I asked I found out it had just been redecorated. DO NOT listen to bad reviews on this site; they probably just booked through the hotel organization and they seem to be having a tough time getting it together I LOVE CANCUN AND SOLYMAR!!!

“Long weekend perfection” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011 I recently stayed in 3604, which Michelle tells me they call the honeymoon suite. It'd definitely fill that role well. Excellent view of the beach and pool. You can leave the balcony door open and listen to the waves. I spent a lot of time on the balcony or in the bed just reading with the waves in the back ground. The unit was very clean and well maintained. It's very quiet; no discos pounding your walls with bass at 2:00 AM. If you're one of those kind of people that likes to cook on your vacation, the unit has a kitchen and you can get anything you want from Walmart or Mercado 28. If you're more like me (I don't cook even when I'm not on vacation), there are many excellent restaurants for the next 10 KM on the road leading to Punta Cancun. Sisal was my usual stop for breakfast and was usually one of the first places to pop into my mind whenever I got hungry. If you're really not in a hurry and don't mind a little company, taking the bus is VERY cheap--8 pesos (roughly 80 cents) to get anywhere in Cancun. There's a bus every few minutes, but they stop frequently. So while getting on the bus won't take very long, if you're heading up to the area around Punta Cancun, it could take a little while. If you're not up for the bus, there is always at least a couple of taxis parked in front of the resort. And there seem to be about as many taxis as cars on the highway for when you're ready to come home. I never took a taxi while I was there, but it wasn't for lack of finding one. Michelle and Peter are great folks to work with and will go out of their way to make sure you have a great time.

Just returned from the Solymar. Great place to stay. Nice beach, not crowded like the rest on this strip. Room was one of the best of all the many times I have been to Mexico and the Caribbean . Staff was very friendly. Michelle & Peter , condo owners there were very helpful. I would reccommmend booking directly with them, very easy, no hassle, no worries. The only complaint I had was the food wasn't that great but then I didn't go there for the food. Very quiet place, family orientated, if you are looking a party place this isn't it. Went into Cancun quite a bit, very clean (puts Toronto to shame), great restaurants, and you feel very safe. I would go back there in a flash and I just might.

My wife and I stayed with Peter and Michelle for the second year in a row. This is a fabulous value. We had a view of the Caribbean and lagoon with a terrace for each. All this for $99 a night on the best beach in Cancun, wide beautiful beach. The tile and granite are beautiful. I read a criticism of these condos, but I don't get it. No, you don't get cleaning everyday, waited on hand and foot, or a turn down, but what are you expecting? If you want that service be prepared to pay for it. we stay with Peter and Michelle because we know it is an excellent value, clean, a great location and Michelle will take care of any need you may have. You just gotta ask.I have literally paid more to view an interstate.

We booked direct with Michelle to stay in her room at the Solymar. Room were large clean with aircon, bathrooms and cooking facilities. Michelle is excellent at sorting out any problems you may encounter during your stay. We did not use the resort resaurant. Bus stops outside resort to get into town - very frequent buses. To tourist areas or to supermarket. Didnt get a chance to swim in the sea as the red flags were always up - but beach is nice and clean with no seaweed. Did use pool - clean and good area. We would stay here again - rent with Michelle & Peter. Thank you Michelle for making our stay comfortable

“A Long Weekend that went way to fast” 5 of 5 stars Date of review: Mar 19, 2011 My son and i just spent 4 days in Cancun. We went for a dive trip and had the pleasure of staying with Michelle and Peter. The unit was well furnished and maintained. We had all the amenities of home with the benefit of local knowledege.If you are seeking a quiet stay and beutiful views this is the place. The Solymar is combination resort/condo complex. it is south of the main Hotel Zone, malls and nightclubs but just 15 minutes away by bus which seems to run every 5 minutes most of the time. We hope to be back next year. John

We stayed for the whole month of March in (one of)Michelle and Peter's cond(s).The condo had a great ocean view and was well equipped with everything we needed for the month. Michelle and Peter went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Since the condo had a fully equipped kitchen we did some cooking but ate out a number of restaurants that were recommended by Michelle. There is a great bus service that can take you anywhere for around 80cents. Highlights form our stay was the Yacht party arranged by Michelle and our visit to Chechenitza and spending the day at Isla Mujeures a beautiful quiet change from Cancun. The Solymar condos are not associated with the Solymar hotel so I don't have any comments about the food or rooms in the hotel. All in all we had a wonderful stay at Michelle and Peters' Solymar condo.

We can't say enough about Michelle and Peter,they saved our vacation !!! We were stranded in Mexico because of a overbooking in the Condo Pool, the first night was a disaster! after spending 3 hours sitting in the lobby (with my husband and two children) we spent the night in a small, hot, one bedroom. The next day Michelle and Peter found us a place to stay and we ended up so much closer to the beach! it was beautiful!. The Solymar is not a 5 star resort but Michelle and Peter are 10 STAR!!!!!. The room was large and very clean we ended up having a wonderful vacation thanks to two people who care!! Thanks again Michelle and Peter! Hope to see you next year!

Her condos are clean and well-appointed. The views are great, the pool area clean and pleasant, and the beach is not overrun with mobs of people. Michelle is very well-organized and attentive. The complex is located near the southern end of the hotel zone, an area with considerably less congestion than the northern end. Although our stay was short, we enjoyed the condo!

“A truly amazing trip thanks to Michelle & Peter” 5 of 5 stars Date of review: Mar 7, 2011 - New We just arrived back home from our amazing trip to Cancun and Solymar Beach Resort. Feb14-26, 2011. Upon our arrival to Solymar, Michelle promptly escorted us to our room (3604). It was everything we expected and way more. The view was breathtaking, (thanks to Michelle's recommendation). The hotel, pool, grounds, and beach were very well kept. The beach was quiet and never crowded. The beaches next door were wall to wall people. We talked to other people that were there in the all inclusive and they didn't enjoy the food at all. We told them that we were renting a condo from Michelle & Peter, and they said they wished they would have too. We enjoyed cooking our meals, when we felt like it. We did have meals out as well. We tried some of Michelle's recommendations and they were great. Especially Harry's and La Distileria. The food, service and the ambiance was fabulous. Wow what a great trip. Michelle and Peter are excellent hosts. Anything you require they will do there best to look after you. One evening we were invited to a dinner with Michelle & Peter, and other guests of theirs. It was a wonderful evening and dinner. It was catered by "Flavours to your door". Contact Michelle and Peter Hermick, condo owners on the Solymar Hotel property. They are simply the BEST! Our room was fantastic! It was clean, quite, quaint, and beautiful. The beach area is fantastic. And it is in the quite area of the "hotel zone". Traveling to the city by bus or taxi is very convenient. And there is so much to do and see in Cancun, it's amazing! And any rumor you've heard that Cancun is not safe is simply wrong! We always felt perfectly safe. Here's why we LOVED our time at Michelle and Peters; they treated us not only like guests... they treated us like friends. Their kindness and hospitality is priceless! Peter is helpful, fun and interesting to talk to. Michelle is not only beautiful (always impeccably dressed), she truly cares for people and desired to make our stay as wonderful as possible... and it was. We used to go to Cancun every winter for a week or two since 1986. We started renting condo units in 2000. We,ve rented appartments outside Cancun and in the hotel zone. Though we had good experiences in other places, we found that Michelle and Peter's units are the most well kept condos we have stayed in. We first went to Solymar in 2003 for a 6 weeks stay.Everything was great and Michelle and Peter went out of their way to make us fell at home. The unit was super clean and very conveniently located ( ground floor, facing the stairs to the beach ). So, we liked it so much, we went back last winter for another 6 weeks and got friends to join us for 1 month in Michelle and Peter's other unit. We all had a great time. We will be going back this coming winter for 7 weeks and we have so many friends and family members coming to join us that it will be like those gatering for holidays !!!! Michelle and Peter took very good care of all of us last year and I can recommand their unit at Solymar without a doubt to everyone. Can't wait to go back

We just returned 01/07/11 from our first family trip to Cancun and it was AMAZING with special thanks to Michelle for taking such great care of all our needs. We found her recommendations about restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions to be very honest and helpful. She was very prompt and answered any questions or concerns that we had before and during our trip. The listing description and photos accurately reflect the condo (1802) which was clean and well-maintained. I would highly recommend this condo or any other properties managed by Michelle & Peter because of their superior customer service skills! The Solymar Beach Club offers a great location - you're just steps away from an amazing beach. The rental price is very affordable for a couple, family,or group. There is so much to do and see for all ages in Cancun - we really enjoyed our trips to Xel-Ha, Tulum, and Chichen Itza. Our favorite restaurants were Puerto Madero and Senor Frogs. We also enjoyed shopping at La Isla shopping mall and Market 28. Please note that most items in Market 28 and the Coral Market are marked up considerably so don't hestiate to barter. While in the market, you may come across some aggressive merchants, simply walk away and say no thank you! We travelled with our teenage children (19 and 15) and never once did we feel uncomfortable or concerned about our safety while in Cancun. We travelled to restaurants and shopping malls by taking the bus (8.5 pesos per person), taxi (the most we ever paid was 150 pesos + tip and that was from WalMart) and we also enjoyed the beautiful scenery by sometimes walking to our dinner and shopping destinations. Purchasing groceries at Wal-Mart and cooking in the condo was great way to save money because eating out each night can be expensive in Cancun (average price for dinner: $50pp). We look forward to returning to the Solymar Beach Club in the near future and plan to bring more family and friends with us. Don't hesitate to book your accomodations with Michelle and Peter - you're guaranteed to receive GREAT service!"

We traveled to Cancun for the holidays and were rewarded with a wonderful stay at Solymar. While an older property, it is well maintained and in an ideal spot only 10 minutes from the Cancun Airport and literally on the beach as it right in front of you --- we fell asleep to the sounds of the surf many a night and it was wonderful! We easily found the markets in Cancun and were able to cook in our room which saved time and $$$. While it was too cool to swim in the pool, it looked nice and the beach was right beyond the pool deck. We had Michelle hire a taxi for us and spent one day travelling to Chichen Itza and arrived well before the crowds and the driver found many an out-of-the-way restaurant and cenote for us to enjoy! (Do this, don't take a tour - it is much more enjoyable and far cheaper without being rushed about - the driver can also tell you great places to eat where the tourists don't hang out too...) It was overcast while we were in Cancun but we discovered Playa del Carmen down the road about 30 minutes and it was calm, sunny and beautiful there - we had rented a car and it was no problem heading into the land of sunshine and beautiful beaches. We also enjoyed Tulum and Xel Ha - the river rafting journey is amazing and we snorkeled and saw many different fish! Overall, Solymar is a quiet retreat well within shooting distance of the nightlife and restaurants Cancun is known for - but a quiet retreat when you need it. If you are looking for a great place to stay while enjoying all that Cancun has to offer --- this is the place!

We stayed in a suite through private owners; Michelle and Peter. The suite was FANTASTIC! It had a nice kitchen, a beautiful view of the beach. Michelle and Peter live on site and speak spanish so they provided lots of great tips and travel advice. The hotel staff are NOT friendly at all..in fact when we arrived they carried our lugguage up the stairs but as soon as I mentioned that we were looking for Michelle they dropped our suitcases and rudely pointed away and would not help us anymore- not a nice welcoming at all. Don't ask the staff there for anything...always ask Michelle and Peter. So, if you are looking for a comfortable, clean, affordable condo ran privately by 2 friendly Canadians, then this is the place for you. No one here will try an take advantage of you or try and sell you a time share..you can relax and head out to the city for great places to eat, and fun excursions. The bus system in Cancun is very easy and efficient to use. The ocean is warm and the beaches are beautiful. The excursions are very affordable. If you can avoid buying a pricey timeshare and keep your wits about you...Cancun is paradise and this condo was great...we will return FOR SURE!

Michelle and Peter at Solymar. The room looked exactaly like the pictures, and the beach was breathtaking. Things to be aware of: this is not part of the hotel, but privately owned and the staff of the hotel are not particularly friendly or inviting. There are no extras here except what you negotiate with Michelle. She had us set up a taxi before our departure with Cancun Transfer. I would highly recommend this. They were at the airport upon arrival, and five minutes early for departure to the airport. Excellent service. Internet is available from some units, but not the one we stayed in, however we could get the signal from the lobby... This hotel is not the RITZ, but you are also afforded your privacy, and will not be hounded by anyone. It is clean, quiet and a safe place to stay. The bus system is brilliant and cheap. The small store in the Solymar has anything you may need if you have forgotten something. They even have sugar, coffee, pasta, sauce, water if you need something immediately. While in Cancun we Zip lined and did the Jungle Tour!! Very fun. Mostly we relaxed on the beach, had a great italian meal at Las Isla Mall and did the touristy Margaritta Ville. Senior Frogs was very noisy and almost abnoxious. If you are looking for a peaceful stay then this is the place for you. Great Value and Michelle has great advice...listen to her and she will help you make your stay a vacation of a lifetime.!!

Peter and Michelle were excellent hosts! We had an awesome time. Solymar is a very relaxing and quiet resort, which is exactly what we wanted. The pictures here are exactly what we found! It had a gorgeous ocean view, just perfect. The list that Michelle provided for restaurants was spot on, she did an excellent job at recommending them, and the ambiance and food were outstanding just like she said they would be! Just returned from 6 amazing days in Cancun at Michelle and Peter's Condo! The photos are exactly as the room was upon arrival...no surprises at all. Michelle went out of her way to check on us multiple times to see if we needed anything or to just drop off some magazines! It was great to have someone there staying at the hotel if you needed anything. The small kitchen was great and exactly what we were looking for. Solymar is on the south end of the strip and is a 5-10 minute bus ride to any restaurant and bar you would ever want to visit! We took to bus to Walmart to grab groceries the 1st night...wouldn't recommend doing that if you're looking to make more basic meals.. The bus trip is a good 45 minutes if not more and it's downtown so it's not ideal to travel and then bus it back with groceries! There is a smaller market across from the Omni Hotel (3 minute bus ride) and has everything from milk and eggs, to pasta and sauce. If you're looking for a few basic things, i would recommend checking that out first. One other thing to note is the unit we were in didn't have a oven so it really is worth grabbing a few things at the smaller market! (we didnt notice this until we got back from walmart with frozen pizzas...oops!) All in all we had an excellent time at Solymar. Michelle and the hotel exceeded our expectations. Solymar is perfect if you're looking for a nice and clean hotel while still having the freedom to do, and dine where ever you please!

I would have been happy to buy you a big toaster oven if you wanted or even just lent you ours. Anything to ensure the happiness of many guests to come The grocery at the Omni is nice and close yes- Walmart is for our guest chefs who need many options and the TRICK is to go on the morning and then it's only 30 minutes and you get a 70 cent ride through the entire hotel zone - or take a taxi for $12usd. Usually onc a week is enough and it's the furthest distance you will travel. Hope to have you back - until then we will b connected on Facebook! Happy travels !!!

"What an awesome time my sister in law and I had at Solymar from 8/19/2010 to 8/25/2010! The listing and photo's are so very accurate (and the property/beach/ocean are even more stunning in person!) Everything, and I mean everything you need for a truly enjoyable stay is provided. Fully stocked kitchen with refrig/microwave/coffemaker/blender/pots and pans/utensils/plateware/glasses/dishtowels, etc. Shelves for groceries. More than enough space in dressers/closets for clothesand such. Iron and Ironing board. Dining room table, chaise lounge and comfy beds. There is a TV, but we never watched it. Get intl calling on your cells - much cheaper. My iPhone had great reception. Great water pressure in the shower and lot's of room on the vanity and beneath for storage of toiletries, etc. Safe in closet. Condo is incredibly clean and decorated in light, airy beach decor. Just beautiful! Steps to the pool and beach! Beach is powdery white sand with gorgeous clear water and tons and tons of seashells if you want to venture into the sea and retrieve them. The swim up bar at the pool is awesome also. :) Michelle and Peter were always accessible for anything we might need. They made us feel like one of the family! We were fortunate enough to be at Solymar during the release of the baby sea turtles and to be able to personally assist in that was an experience we will not ever forget! Buses run consistently all day long right out front of the resort. Take the buses - go downtown to shop, look around, eat, drink, enjoy the nightlife if that is what you wish. We always felt safe traveling to and from town on the bus, even at night. Everyone was always ready to help with a friendly smile and greeting. We took a bus to Walmart and got groceries the first morning we were there - much easier to go in the morning and much less expensive than eating out every meal. We did have a couple of fantastic dinners out - Michelle leaves a list of restaurants in the condo to check out. Everywhere we went took US$, credit cards, or peso's. We went snorkeling in Cozumel but you can also go down the beach where the reef starts - snorkel from shore for free. The beach was almost like having it to ourselves since it was August, and the weather was perfect! We highly recommend staying at Solymar with Michelle and Peter and are already planning our trip back. Thank you for an awesome vacation. :)"

The unit was very comfortable and clean. The A/C always worked and there is also a ceiling fan. We had all we needed in the kitchen. We would open the slider at night and we could fall asleep to the sounds of the waves. We were able to go down to the beach the first night and watch the sea turtles come to lay their eggs. It was awesome! I highly recommend going and getting some groceries at the nearest convenience store by bus. This was our first time to Cancun and found it to be pretty pricey. We ate breakfast at the condo every day and some lunches and we were able to stay within budget. The pool was very relaxing and very close but we would also not recommend eating at the poolside restaurant. There are a lot of restaurants within a bus ride that have good food. We would recommend The Tequila Grill inside Kukulcan Plaza. They had excellent food at a reasonable price and it was in an air condiitoned mall. Overall, the condo was a great value. You can't beat the view!

Our stay at Salymar was wonderful. Located on the main strip in Cancun, you are only a inexpensive bus ride away from anywhere you could possibly want to go, dinner, dancing,shopping& local markets. The rooms are light and airy giving that relaxed Mexican vibe. Our view of the ocean, magnificent. As luck would have it, it was a full Moon week. Every night we walked on the beach and could see these huge ancient Sea turtles swim out of the ocean, make the long crawl up the beach to lay their eggs. You have your chose of restaurants , where by the way you receive the freshest fish everyday.With the small efficiency kitchen it made it possible to have our early meals in so we wouldn't have to rush off the beach and worry about getting food. All in all a great stay !

I went to Cancun with 39 in-laws. Yes, think about it, on vacation with 39 in-laws, non-seasoned travelers, and I still have my sanity. Travelling with such a large group can be a nightmare in making arrangements. People have special demands and their wants and needs change constantly. Michelle eased these woes by staying in contact during the arrangement process and being completely flexible in meeting our needs. She was prompt to respond to inquires, sometimes within minutes. Our party arrives at staggered times and Michelle or Peter greeted each group, took them to their condos and explained all the amenities. They also left everyone with a room list of where others were staying, along with information on the hotel and Cancun. The accommodations were wonderful. We had a gorgeous 2 bedroom condo, with a full kitchen. As a bonus, a wonderful view of the beach was off both balconies. The beach at Solymar has always been one of my favorites for playing in the surf and lying in the sand. For the adventuresome of the group, take a pleasant stroll up to the point, where the snorkeling is great. Some of our party did not want to get into the ocean – Midwesterners who saw Jaws or shark week, I guess. This bunch stayed at the pool which was a nice size and very clean. We went to Cancun to celebrate another couple’s 25th wedding anniversary and Michelle help to arrange the festivities on that day. I must say that Michelle goes out of her way to make sure her guests are happy. She checked on the entire party each and every day and quickly helped with special requests or any problems that might have arisen. Due to a timeshare arrangement, my wife and I stayed an extra week at a different resort at Puerto Morales. Although the accommodations were wonderful, we kept saying the entire week “I wish we were back at Solymar.” I would highly recommend Solymar for a future trip for all types of travelers and it is the only place I will stay at in Cancun in the future.

AS POSTED TO TRIPADVISOR : We stayed in room 3604 with Michelle and Peter Hermick just this past week. A previous review mentioned an uncomfortable bed and other issues, but they are replacing the beds and taking care of business. I'm sure they will fix everything mentioned as they are wonderful hosts and have been very very helpful throughout our entire stay. Some things worth mentioning: 1) If you're like us, looking for relaxation and a getaway AWAY from all the busy-ness, this is the place for you. No crowds in the hotel, no timeshare sells, no partying springbreakers, no fighting for space at the pool or beach. This is a very quiet resort, very safe and quaint. We loved going to the beach and feeling like we almost have it all to ourselves. Look down a few resorts, and you see a drastic difference. 2) When I mentioned my back hurting from sleeping (I have major back problems to begin with) to Michelle, I didn't expect her to try to immediately improve my situation for me. However, she showed up at our door 2 minutes later with some extra padding for the mattress. 3) We had a situation with running out of cash and the atms won't take our cards so Michelle and Peter was kind enough to arrange to get us cash and have us transfer it back to their accounts through Paypal while we were there. Not only did they have to purposely make a trip to the bank for us, they did it with a smile. We're very impressed with their hospitality, service, and willingness to make things right for their guests. I have no doubt their rooms will be improved continually. If you stay with them, you can freely express your issues/problems with them and they will definitely try their best to make things work for you. I think they even have a satisfaction guarantee on their rooms.

If you aren't staying in the room the fans wouldn't even be noticed so don't appologize, I hope I didn't insult you because the condo was fantastic, perfect size for us three and we really enjoyed it. Can't tell you how happy we were to have a kitchen and prepare the majority of our own food, saved us a ton of money and we really enjoyed that instead of eating out every meal. You have to mention to your guests the little sandwich shop that is right next to the Manta divers shop in town, we had tacos and sandwiches there for $15.00 US, it was a great treat and cheaper than most places. We loved the restaurant you recommeneded in the downtown well and apprecaited you telling us about that one. Eddie (our son) enjoyed some steak and lobster so he was in his glory. We were able to get a cap ride down there for $10.00 US, I bartered the cabbie down from his original quote of $20.00. Not as lucky on the way home though, ended up getting on our first air conditioned bus so that was a treat. You were wonderful hosts, anything we asked you accomodated immediately. You run a great show there and shouldn't take any negative reviews since they can't be true. People can just be negative at times so you must push aside the negativity that people have! Oh I so wish we could have seen the turtles...........maybe next time! We did take the ferry over to Isla Mujeres on Tuesday, the beaches there are unbelievable so we too experienced the calm water. Noticed yesterday as we were leaving that the water was calmer. We also didn't eat at all at the restaurant on the grounds, I think you were right in your opinion on they aren't as friendly, you mentioned you weren't a fan of the owner but our opinion was that they weren't big fans of Americans. Which was fine we would prefer to cook for ourselves. You offer a great place there. Since I am really not getting much work down here at my job today, I will go post your review. It is hard to get back in the swing of things right now. Good luck and thank you for everything..........we will be back, that's for sure!!!!

We loved the villa you got us, it was truly amazing and was described accordingly in the description, which is rare to come by . Wow ! The maid was awesome, I can't believe how many hours she spent cleaning the house for us and the guy fixedthe air conditioning downstairs immediately, which was great. It was abeautiful condo and we had a wonderful time in Cancun and at Solymar - -great place for a family vacation! Loved the pools, the infinity pool, andhow we could walk right down to the beach from the condo. I believe the check-in would have gone a lot smoother if I would have been there but unfortunately at the last minute my husband and I decided to scuba dive at Playa del Carmen and the only time available was from 1-3pm (which was amazing). Oh well, just sad I didn't get to meet you and that you waited forus until 3, very sweet of you by the way! Thanks so much for the great stayand wonderful condo on the beach of Cancun . . . and when we save up enough money you will be seeing us again! (plane tickets aren't the cheapest in Montana ) We came back to snow on the ground,which I loved, Idefinitely am a Montana girl!

I've been back from Cancun a week and ready to go back. The Solymar Suites were a great value and had a spectacular view of the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. If you like white sand and crystal blue water this is the place to go. Very quiet and no vendors on the beach. The city itself was great, the streets were clean and it felt very safe. Michelle and Peter were great; they were very helpful when my mom fell and hurt her knee. Also very accomodating when I had to reschedule the arrival and departure dates. Great place and great hosts. I would definitely recommend it.

I have never been to Cancun and Michelle made it so easy and perfect. I could not of ask for anything more. My friend had told me that we were far from anything I told her no we were not. The bus ride was an ease for us it stopped right out front and east to get around. Went to wal-mart the first day bought provisions. It was perfect. The room was great. For what little time we were in there. The pool and staff were fantastic and the beach was not crowed at all. LOVED every minute of it. Walked on the beach in the mornings and had great nights out. I would highly recommend it. If you need more catering and hand and foot to be waited on you might want to go somewhere else. This is the place for relaxing and doing what you want to do. with out all the bells and whistles. Thanks Michelle for everything. I'll be coming back next year. save my room for me please. I would like the same view. I miss it so much already.

We just came back from a week stay at the Solymar Condominiums managed by Michelle and Peter. We had a beautiful ocean side view room. The place was comfortable and clean, and they have a great location on the beach. I liked that Michelle kept in touch with us as soon as we booked the room, letting us know about transportation, information on the condominiums and surrounding areas. Once we arrived, they were accessible if we had questions or needed anything. We will be staying here again at our next trip to Cancun and would recommend it to our family and friends. What a great place to escape the Alberta winter weather for a month! The view from our suite was breathtaking and the pool area and beach were just steps from the suite. Michelle and Peter were excellent hosts, making certain we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The suite was great for the two of us and the water cooler, very comfortable chairs on the deck and internet access in our room was a definite bonus. Of course, the bus service just outside the complex and the very friendly, hard working staff at the Solymar all contributed to a wonderful vacation experience. If we have the opportunity to return to Cancun, we will definitely contact Michelle and Peter to arrange our accommodation..

We loved our room & it had everything we needed. It was very clean & functional. We liked the fact that the place was never over crowded & we always had beach lounge chairs when we needed them. The beautiful beach was just outside our back door & the view of it from our room was fantastic. The building itself was always clean & in good repair. The location is excellent, away from all the hustle & bustle & the bus stop was just outside the door & down the ramp. We would definitely stay at this resort again & book with Peter & Michelle.

We spent five weeks at the Solymar and would definetly recommend it to anyone wishing to experience an independent holiday. If you like to do your own things this is the place for you. Michele and Peter are very good hosts and will give good advice on how to get around Cancun. You may want to take a few staples like salt/pepper, sugar, coffee etc for your arrival as it is not easy to grocery shop right away. The restaurant is meant for all inclusive guests and is very expensive and the food is not great. The beach is fabulous and the ocean is clear and a wonderful aqua blue. The room was clean and well equipped, and the maid service was very good. A really good value for a reasonable price.

Just returned from a fabulous 3 week stay in Cancun.We booked our condo through Michelle and Peter and could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay for our first time there.Our suite and facility at the Solymar was always clean and had everything we needed.Michelle and Peter were always very attentive and if we needed anything all we had to do was ask, they made our stay very enjoyable with no worries.Our view from room 3604 was absolutely stunning and very quiet.Loved Cancun so much it will be our new home away from home.Xel-Ha is a must day trip as it was a great family outing full of snorkelling and a awesome experience.We would highly recommend Cancun and booking one of Michelle and Peter's rentals as we could not have been any happier with our stay.Will definetly be back very soon.Mike & Sherri Braun. Airfare to Cancun - $800; New bathing suit - $60; Beer for the beach - $100; a stay at the Solymar with Michelle and Peter Hermick - priceless! Our stay this year at the Solymar Resort through onsite hosts Michelle & Peter Hermick was a wonderful experience. Cancun beach is now fully restored to its pre-hurricane beauty and the Solymar complex is the ideal location to enjoy this. Michelle & Peter are amazing hosts that meet all expectations. They ensured our room was ready for us when we arrived, and escorted us personally to our room (even carried our luggage). The room had everything we needed -- an ocean view, fully stocked kitchen including microwave, toaster, coffee maker and blender, comfty bed, A/C that works no problem, fresh towels and a secure safe in the closet. If we had any questions or problems (which we didn't!!!), they were always easy to find to help us out and promptly solve any issues. The Cancun beach restoration you may have heard about is done, and the Solymar complex was busy putting up the palapas when we were there to provide shade when enjoying the new beach. There were plenty of chairs and loungers at the pool and on the sand, so that was never an issue. Friendly staff kept the beach clean of debris every day, and we saw many workers fixing up small repairs to the complex (salt water is relentless). The pool area is spotless ... just watch out for the odd iguana walking through. Easy access to restaurants and shopping by simply jumping on a bus, there is a stop right in front of the Solymar. If you don't know where to find a delish meal or good shopping deals, just ask Michelle and Peter! They live there year-round so they know the popular spots.

I just returned from a five night stay at the Solymar. I did not stay at the hotel, per se, but in a condominium arranged through Michelle and Peter Hermick, resident managers of a number of the units. I was able to have the best of both worlds -- a hotel pool, restaurant, bar and beach, and the personalized care of Michelle and Peter. This made all the difference in the world. The Solymar is a perfect fit for the budget conscious traveller. Though the rooms are modest in size, the one that I stayed in was completely furnished and tastefully decorated. The kitchen came with cooking and eating utensils, dishes and glassware -- and a corkscrew. The arrangement was perfect for eating breakfast and snacks. The view of the ocean is exceptional and the hotel is right on the beach. The unit I stayed in was clean, and the linens and towels were in good shape. I liked the fact that I could pick and choose my meal arrangements. One day I did the all-inclusive plan at the Solymar. All meals, drinks, tips and snacks were included for approximately $45 per person per day. This worked well for that day. The food was ample, but only average in quality. I am glad that I was able to get out to the nearby restaurants of which there are so many, and all accessible by the bus that stops right outside the hotel. I enjoyed being able to sample a variety of cuisines and stay well within my budget. Truly, it was Michelle and Peter who made my stay at the Solymar Condos a great experience. Their hospitality was outstanding, and they demonstrated an exceptional ability to communicate with and supervise the housekeeping and maintenance staff to the degree that I had nothing to worry about during my stay. Their recommendation for a supplier for airport transfers and excursions (I went to Chichen Itza) was right on the money in both senses: the least expensive that I could find and of excellent quality as well. I plan to return to the Solymar and when I do I will make sure that I rent one of the units managed by Michelle and Peter.

Well, we too enjoyed our stay at Michelle & Peter's condo in the Solymar Resort. We can certainly agree with the statements stating the views are wonderful and the rooms, pool, and entire complex are clean and very nice. It is a very good value. Nobody in the guest log has pointed out another nifty attraction in the immediate Solymar area, though: Zona Archeologica "El Rey". Mayan Ruins not to be missed, and a great iguana habitat. Within walking distance.

Thanks to Michelle & Peter. Had a lovely stay. Pleasant appartment, adequate swimming pool with entertainment around the pool. If you are eating out, plenty of good eating in the Malls, a short Bus ride down the strip, i.e if you want to chat rather than catch a taxi. Beware of other Hotels on the strip that are far to restrictive for most Europeans. As Walmart is mentioned, why not catch the bus signed Walmart & as well as going around the supermarket, have breakfast at one of the excellent restaurants near bye. Enjoy Peter Sale
