We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house is beautiful with great views!! You have thought of everything in the house to have a great time. Including Dvd's games, cards, etc. There are so many things to do in the area. We were sorry we didn't have enough time to do all we wanted to. We look forward to coming back another time.

Highly recommend arriving before dark on your first day. Road leading up to house is windy and very difficult to travel in the dark. The house was very beautiful and the view was spectacular! We enjoyed our short stay and hope to make it back soon!

Fantastic Contemporary Cabin!

Guest: Tiffany (Tampa, FL)
Date of Stay: 07/17/11 Review Submitted: 07/26/11

Our family throughly enjoyed our time in Majestic Falls. The cabin is well equipped in the kitchen and bathrooms. The eclectic decor is homey and comfortable. Jana was wonderful to work with and answered questions that we had while we stayed there (i.e. where is this? how does this work?). The cabin was clean and the hummingbird feeder was full (and we enjoyed the birds everyday!). The community itself had some nice features like a waterfall within walking distance and a lake towards the top of the mountain community. Besides Asheville, there were other fabulous places to visit nearby.... Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Montreat, Lake Lure and Old Fort to name a few. To be noted, we had absolutely no cell or data service with AT&T until we went down the mountain and into town. My MIL had service at the cabin with Verizon. If you are visiting in the winter, I would not want to be driving a car in the snow to the cabin..... but you can say about any mountain community! I would definitely recommend Majestic Falls to friends who are looking to visit the area and who want to get away from it all (including your cell phone!). Thanks to Jana and Bob for offering such a nice place for a reasonable price! P.S. I loved the touch of the Biltmore wine available in the wine rack... with no mark up!

Not only a awesome view of the mountains but a beautiful home. We felt right at home as soon as we arrived. We spent our time relaxing and enjoying our surroundings. Even though the house was in the mountains, we were not to far from whatever we needed. We would love to come back again. Thanks for opening your home to us. It was a blessing to us.

Beautiful Private House and Area

Guest: Jennifer (MI)
Date of Stay: 05/28/11 Review Submitted: 08/02/11

We had a wonderful week staying in this beautiful house. It is a very private setting. The only time we saw or heard anyone was when we went for a hike (nice trails and waterfalls steps away from the house). I worried that the house may not be suited well for our 2 year old daughter. But, it worked out great. The decks are wonderful. We had breakfast and dinner outside most days. I hope we can come back again some time.

BEAUTIFUL HOME

Guest: Virginia (Tennessee)
Date of Stay: 04/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/29/11

This is a beautiful home in a beautiful area - we loved every minute we were there - the only thing missing was screens for the windows so that you could breathe in that wonderful mountain air - hope to be back soon!

Owner response:Sorry about the screens. If you'd have called me I would have told you were they were located. In winter we take them off the windows so that the full view is not hindered by the screens. They are in the toolroom adjacent to the downstairs family room..... glad you enjoyed your week!

Wonderful weekend

Guest: T Girls annual fall trip (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 10/28/10 Review Submitted: 11/02/10

We had a very nice fall weekend. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The views are excellent, with lots of fall color. We toured the local sights during the day to come "home" and relax in the evenings. With the heat off (by choice) we used the wood stove to remove the morning chill and create a cozy breakfast atmosphere. I personally slept with a window open to listen to the fall breezes in the trees. This was a girls weekend, and each of us talked of returning with the family as a whole to enjoy this home and the surroundings together. Five star accommodations!

4 of us girls went on a fall getaway and picked Jana and Bob's home as our destination. It couldn't have been anymore beautiful. Everything was provided in the home. Really the only things we needed to bring were our clothes and food. The view out the many windows couldn't have been anymore breathtaking! The weather cooperated and it was great to sit on any of the decks and just take in the views and the quiet after sightseeing! Thanks again, Jana!

Fabulous Labor Day Weekend

Guest: Jenny (Birmingham, AL)
Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

My husband and I and our two adult daughters stayed in the Majestic Falls house over Labor Day weekend. The pictures and description on this website made it sound really good, but it was even better in real life! The views are breathtaking and they can be enjoyed from the many windows inside or any of the four decks outside. You won't need to pack a lot because everything you need is provided - plenty of towels, linens, soap, shampoo, laundry and dishwasher detergent, even a hair dryer. The kitchen is stocked with lots of dishes, glassware, utensil, pots, pans, trays, etc., as well as salt, pepper, an array of spices, coffee, sugar, sweetener, and basic pantry staples. It was very clean and well maintained - I think the most serious problem we had was that one of the kitchen light bulbs burned out during our stay. We talked to Jana on the phone a time or two while we were there and she was extremely kind and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our hike to the nearby waterfalls (just turn right out of the driveway and walk about 1/4 mile to the well marked trails and picnic area). We used the house as home base for our exploration of Black Mountain, Chimney Rock, Old Fort, and Asheville. (If you're a foodie or art lover, Asheville is not to be missed!) If you're looking for a house that is right in the middle of civilization, then this may not be the place for you. But if you're looking for a true getaway, this is it! It is about a 20-minute ride to the nearest town and it's a slow, beautiful, winding drive up the mountain to get to the house. I would definitely recommend arriving there during the daylight hours! We had no cell reception (AT&T) but my husband said that was fine because he could not be contacted by his office! Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. If you want an amazing place to kick back, relax, and enjoy being with your family and friends, I can't think of a better place to go!

Amazing week in the treetops!

Guest: Nickname (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 08/23/10

We enjoyed a lovely week at Majestic Falls. Arriving Saturday afternoon, we were struck by the views from the house and decks and the comfortable spaces of the great room and den. Four of us were able to stay all week with other favored friends dropping in for two nights toward the end of the week. The house never felt cavernous or too full! Cooking most nights was delightful wether in the kitchen or on the grill. The farmstand on Bat Cave Road offers CSA-style boxes of produce and meet for vacationers, I left their contact information in the guest book and would certainly try that out next time rather than our numerous trips over the mountain to Ingles. The house was well equipped with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, bakeware and even tupperware. There were also plenty of blankets and towels. We saw a variety of wildlife driving in and out of the community, turtles, enormous butterflies, deer and innumerable turkeys! The property was a great base for exploring, Asheville, Black Mountain, Henersonville and Chimney Rock. The on-site hiking out to the waterfall was also fun and spectacular, sadly we never made it over to Lake George! I would recommend following Jana's instructions to arrive during daylight hours, the first trip up was a little more exciting than we'd anticipated, but was familiar by the end of the week. Although close to I-40, it takes 20-30 minutes to come down the mountain and out Bat Cave Road to Fort Mill. This was a wonderful and relaxing getaway, we can't wait to get back.

Even a prettier house than I expected. The Master is quite large and it and the whole place is just FULL of great windows. Worth the drive from the main road. Really comfortable there. Price is great, especially for our two couples, but could easily accomodate 3 three couples! Don't miss the waterfall and George Lake! Black Mountain has several REALLY good restaurants, the Thai Basil, for example.

This home is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains! It is everything the description says it is. It is secluded with many trees, yet has a scenic view of the surrounding mountains and Lake Lure. The nearby waterfall was a pleasant place to walk to. The house is tastefully furnished as a home. It is spacious, clean and comfortable. It is perfect for a getaway weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here!

Our family stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend and were very impressed with the house! The owners have many amenities that make the stay so enjoyable. The views were impressive as well. We traveled with my parents (in their 70s), our two little girls (2 and 6), and us and we had plenty of room. Try to go on a Friday when they have Mountain Music down in Old Fort. We went to Chimney Rock, Black Mountain (great little town), and Asheville during our stay. We recommend eating lunch out on the town and staying in for dinner. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back again. Highly recommend!

Date of Stay: 05/13/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/10

We went there for my husbands birthday with 2 other couples. The house was beautiful, the views were spectacular, and Jana was so helpful when we needed her. There were some really beautiful waterfalls around the property that we visited briefly, but wished we had more time to see more of them. We also went white water rafting that was about 45 minutes away and we went to the Biltmore that was about 30 minutes away. Everything was close and we were all able to sleep comfortable, with the most amazing views to wake up too. We loved the 2 decks that were separated... the girls sat and had girl talk on one deck while drinking some wine and the boys cooked "our" food on the other deck, and we didn't have to listen to them talk their boy talk!!! :-) The house was more like a fully accomidated hotel with shampoo/conditioner/hairdryers/soap/toothbrushes, etc in case you forgot anything. I highly recommend this house if you are going to the area, I would def stay there again!!!

Mountain Paradise

Guest: At Home in the Mountains (St. Augustine, FL)
Date of Stay: 05/02/10 Review Submitted: 05/09/10

We had never done the vacation rental thing before, but this was a very rewarding experience! You have no choice but to slow down and relax once you hit this mountain range and it will favor you with spectacular views and blissful tranquility. The long winding roads heightened the excitement as we drew near the "cabin." The house was amazing! The pictures were very accurate, but didn't do the place justice--it was so big and beautiful. The view from the living room and decks was incredible--beautiful sunrises, watching the clouds lift off the mountains to reveal Lake Lure, gorgeous flora & fauna. From the deck, we enjoyed the hummingbirds, hawks, wild turkeys, and more. This is a nature lover's paradise with all the amenities of a well-appointed home. We felt so at home that we hated to leave! Enjoy meals on the patio with a view of Lake Lure, soak your cares away in the big tub, or sink into the sumptuous bedding and enjoy the sights of this lovely little home. Everything was there as promised; all cooking implements were there and of good quality, some staples were on hand. If you plan to do a lot of cooking, you may want to stop at the house first and see what you will need. Then allow yourself time to get into town and shop. The local grocery, Frisbee's, had wonderful meats and everything we needed, but they do close at 6 on Sundays. A short drive into Old Fort was a great place to pick up foods and such. There were plenty of staples at the house, like seasonings, condiments, etc. Linville Caverns was a great spot to take the kids. Plenty of hiking and exploring back at the house. Don't miss out on charming little nearby Chimney Rock & Bat Cave! Chimney Rock Gem mine, Bubba O'Leary's General Store, Old Cider Mill, and more are just a short drive away and just down the road from Lake Lure. Marion has much to offer for shopping and dining; we enjoyed Mi Pueblito mexican restaurant, Moondoggy's 50's diner, and picked up essentails at the wal-mart there. We stayed a week and ran out of time! We loved relaxing at the cabin and exploring the mountain and local venues. Wish we could've stayed longer, we felt so at home in this great house.

We absolutely loved our stay at this house. The views are wonderful and you can hear the sound of the waterfall from the decks! The first thing that we saw when we walked through the front door was the magnificent view of the mountains and Lake Lure in the distance. It was perfect. Even our teenagers loved it! We wish we had spent more time at the house than we actually did. Our vacation was spent flyfishing, ziplining, and visiting Biltmore. I would recommend that if you want peace and quiet but still want to be close to a lot of activities, this is it! We will be back!! Thank you Jana. Kathleen & Al

WE LOVED THIS PLACE!

Guest: Indiana Flatlanders (South Bend, Indiana USA)
Date of Stay: 03/12/10 Review Submitted: 04/20/10

My husband and I had planned to visit Asheville and the Biltmore Estate in April, 2010. In early March we found out that our college sophmore daughter and college senior son had not made spring break plans, so we asked them to go with us and moved our vacation up to mid March. Not knowing how it would go with us and two college kids, I decided we needed "space" in our accomodations to make it work - not a hotel. I checked out VRBO and found lots of options to choose from. I liked the idea of staying in the mountains and the pictures and description of Jana's place were very inviting - so I decided to take the plunge! What a wonderful choice - the house is amazing with plenty of private space for individuals. THE VIEW IS BREATHTAKING. We arrived at dusk, which was not recommended because it is a little difficult to find in the dark, so we didn't get a feel for the view until we awoke the next morning. WOW!!! I woke up and, from bed, looked out the picture window in the master bedroom and couldn't believe the incredible scene I was viewing. The house was so comfortable and just plain "cool" with cathedral ceilings, huge great room, gorgeous kitchen, and great bedrooms. It was more than I expected. We decided to stay an extra day and could have gone for even more, but I had already booked a loft in downtown Asheville for the last two nights of our vacation. It was a great way to experience the "ying and yang" of this amazing area. We went to the Biltmore Estate one day, hiked around the house one day, went zip-lining one day, and enjoyed Black Mountain one day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place - you will NOT be disappointed.

Would LOVE to Get Back!

Guest: EscapeEpicure (Knoxville, TN)
Date of Stay: 01/22/10 Review Submitted: 04/20/10

Our family of 3 had the pleasure of staying at Bob and Jana's retreat with three other adults and had a FANTASTIC time and room to spare. The pictures really don't serve the property, or the views, for that matter, with much justice - you're in for a treat. Although you'll want to get out and explore the area, staying in is also wonderful, as the interior is both comfortable and has all the necesssary amenities (and then some) that you'd need. If you are a cook, you'll enjoy the well-appointed kitchen. If you like to be woken up by beautiful sunrises and views and are traveling with others, be sure to get there first to lay claim to the master bedroom - it's well worth it! The only drawback is that weekends just aren't long enough. I would recommend this as an "off the grid" weekender, or even a week-long, vacation rental. You won't regret it!

What a beautiful home! The view from the living room is unbelievable. I enjoyed sitting in the living room with a great bottle of Biltmore wine and a good book. I wish we could have opened the windows at night to enjoy the gorgeous mountain air but there are no screens and the bugs trying to get in to the light would have been too much to open the back door. But other than that we absolutely loved your home! I could go on forever but I will just make a few points. The granite, the ornate lighting throughout, the tile, the huge jetted tub, the comfortable beds.....oh, we loved your home. It is so far up the mountain and so far away from any other houses; it was completely peaceful. We enjoyed the small trek to the waterfalls. We also captured some great photos as well as a mini-movie! Thank you for the use of your home and how easy it was to rent it. We have already highly recommended your home to friends! Thanks again, Sonja and Victor Cantu

serenity and a glimpse of God's amazing creation. that is what i was looking for in our vacation getaway and we found it in spades at this great home! our family of four enjoyed a few peaceful days in this wonderfully clean home with spectacular vista views. enjoying a morning cup of hot coffee in a cooler climate with such amazing views on the deck was just blissful. and we so enjoyed walking to the nearby waterfall and visiting the community lake. we got to take a trolley tour in asheville, which was a short distance. one morning, we also went white water rafting as a family. certainly something for everyone and the deer we saw at the house on the last night was icing on the cake for our daughters. so, thank you, jana, for providing exactly what we needed - a chance to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet in your home. we were truly blessed...

We were so tired of our long, long winter in Indiana and needed a Spring get-away. The contemporary mountain home was the perfect place! The home is very nice . . everything we needed. It was a peaceful, serene location on the mountain. Jana has done a wonderful job with the interior design and provided all we needed for the four nights we were there. The master suite was delightful. We wished we had our family with us to enjoy the other bedrooms and the great walk-out lower level. We visited the Biltmore, Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and Asheville. Wonderful restaurants are available with in a short drive or top-of-the-line appliances if you want to eat in. Thanks, Jana, for a great vacation.

For anyone looking to relax and enjoy natural surroundings, then look no more. My family and I stayed at this gorgeous mountain retreat during Christmas. The views from anywhere in the house are spectacular. What an awesome deign for a mountain home. We enjoyed the Biltmore Estate and lovely Asheville. We made outings to even Gatlinburg, TN which was easily accesible through I-40. The house is very well equipped with all of the amenities you would find at home. The open floor plan and downstairs basement gave everyone different areas of the house to enjoy. The peace and tranquility of this home's location makes you want to stay here year round and to top it off, the owners are delighful people! We will defintely go back to enjoy this home in the trees.

We spent New Year's Eve at Majestic Falls and fell in love with this home and it's spectacular views! The bedrooms are newly furnished with lots of charm and decorum. We especially enjoyed the upper deck over looking Lake Lure in the distance with the sunset over the mountain range. A bottle of wine, which the owners can provide you at a reasonable rate, yummy appetizers on the deck at sunset is pure Heaven! I loved it so much that I will be returning in the Spring! I would highly recommend Majestic Falls to anyone.

My family had a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation at this mountain vacation home. The home was beautifully decorated and the views were breathtaking. The kitchen was well stocked. Waking each morning was such a pleasant experience to be surrounded by such beauty with all the colorful trees and the mountains in view from any location in the house. The waterfall was a short walk from the home and worth the visit. We spent one day in Asheville and the Biltmore which was about 30 minutes from Old Fort. Another day, we went to Black Mountain, a quaint little town, about 15 minutes from the house. Both trips worth the visit. I would highly recommend a stay. We hope to have an opportunity to visit again in the spring or summer.

I took a friend to Majestic Falls to celebrate her 55th birthday. The home was absolutely beautiful and nicely decorated. The view of layered mountains and Lake Lure in the distance were wonderful. We were delightfully surprised by the daily visit of hummingbirds even there was no feeder around. We went into Asheville and Black Mountain for meals and shopping and felt somewhat guilty for not taking advantage of such a well stocked kitchen. I've never had the pleasure of meeting Jana, but through corresponding with her I feel as though she is a good friend who wanted to make sure our stay was special (and it was).

As practically inaugural guests at this brand new home, we were so pleased. We only wish we had more time, 3 days is so short. Nearby our enjoyments were the waterfall park around the bend - our little hike to the falls was a great photo op. We spent a very pleasant afternoon in the town of Black Mountain. We would go back for another visit if time had allowed us. For a relaxing, beautiful home to spread out in - there is this home. The kitchen is great, we had full family style meals here. I and family honestly perfer lingering at the dinner table here than rushing out to a restaurant. Thanks for such great hospitality and friendly availability both before and during our visit! We would recommend this gorgeous home to anyone who enjoys the quiet and seclusion of a mountain retreat. The view of mountains and mist over Lake Lure is captivating. I could sit and watch it change right in front of my eyes... early AM, The Bercini Family

We had a great three-night stay in July. The house is beautifully designed and decorated, completely private, and totally upscale. It's in a security-gated rustic development not too far off I-40, pretty much at the first range of mountains (from the map, you might think it's on flat ground, but it's nicely up in the hills going west on I-40.) We liked the king-sized bed, the whirlpool tub, the upscale and well-equipped kitchen, the lodge-like living room, and the several decks (two private ones off the master bedroom alone.) You can see Lake Lure off in the distance from the deck. Jana is a wonderful host and included some nice surprises that I won't spoil for someone else by listing, but suffice it to say we felt like we were staying in a B&B instead of a rental property. We enjoyed driving around the area, particularly Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Asheville wasn't far and Black Mountain was fairly close for larger grocery stores and restaurants. It was a great experience.

What a stunning home! We enjoyed a lovely 8 day secluded "retreat" for our honeymoon. This home has all the top of the line luxuries including beautiful views from all the decks! Hope we can enjoy another week there to celebrate our first anniversary!
