This house is in a rustic country setting located in northeastern Lancaster County. The long driveway through wood land leads you to the barn and house in a secluded setting. Enjoy nature; deer are frequently spotted in the fields near the house, wild flowers grow along the woods, there are goats in the pasture next to the barn.
The house was remodeled in 2006 and an addition added with a kitchen and bathroom on the main floor and a laundry room with outside entrance in the basement.
The front door from the porch opens into the dining room that has an extension table which seats ten people. The main floor has three rooms and the bathroom; the dining room, a living room, and kitchen. The livingroom has a door that can be closed for privacy. It has sofas and easy chairs (one of the sofas has a hideaway double bed). The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, stove, kitchen utensils and place settings for those who want to bring food and cook. The bathroom has a bath tub with shower, toilet, and an old fashioned pedestal wash basin.
The stairway to the upstairs is the old curved stairway with narrow steps. There is an open area at the top of the stairway with bunk beds and a day bed. There are also two small bedrooms; one has a queen bed, the other has a double bed and single bed. There are no closets - we have an armoire in the open area.
The main floor is heated with a hot water system controlled by a thermostat. The house does not have air condition. The windows have screens and can be opened. We also have fans for circulation.
The steps to the root cellar are the original steps - very narrow and steep. This stairway can be used for access to the laundry room or it can be entered through the outside entrance.
The Barn is used for storage and animals and is located 200+ feet from the house. The barn is off limits. The rental is for the house and lawn only. This simple old-fashioned house is clean and we ask that you leave it as you found it. We expect to clean linens and do normal cleaning.
This property is located in the country. You will see Amish and Old Order Mennonites working on their farms and driving horse drawn carriages as you travel or walk these country roads. If you would like to see additional pictures of the place, we can send them as an attachment by email.
