Great Christmas visit in Magog

Guest: Fred (Wayland, MA USA)
Date of Stay: 12/22/11 Review Submitted: 01/10/12

My family and I are frequent visitors to Magog, but we had never stayed here before. The apartment is right in the shopping/restaurant downtown, above Boulangerie Owl's Bread, and easy to find. We were impressed by the rooms and the amenities - clearly it had been renovated recently. The whole place was well-stocked with the necessary gadgets and appliances, including the kitchen area. The master bath was wonderful! There is off-street parking behind the building, but it required an outdoor flight of stairs to the street and then an indoor flight up to the apartment, itself. This wasn't a problem for us, but it might be for some. There is metered street parking, which we used for unloading and reloading our car. Magog is a great central location for winter skiing at a variety of Eastern Township mountains, but it is also a popular summer location at the northern edge of Lake Mephremagog, which is within waking distance of the apartment. There are many great restaurants within walking distance, too, as well as many more a short drive away. Best of all, the Boulangerie's products are wonderful (continental breakfast was included during our visit) and waking to the smell of fresh bread was a treat! We have already recommended the location to our friends.

Owlsbread and Magog are a winning combination

Guest: Sue (Edmonton, Alberta)
Date of Stay: 09/26/11 Review Submitted: 10/11/11

We enjoyed a short stay at the beautiful apartment and were very impressed with the apartment and its central location. We were within walking distance of all the amenities in charming town of Magog and also toured the surrounding area, taking advantage of the opportunity to hike and bike (bike rental was across the road). The apartment was spacious, comfortable and decorated in a tasteful modern style. The patio looks out over an inlet and the lovely smell of baking wafted up to us from the bakery below. The owner was most helpful in answering our questions. Would we go back? Absolutely!

Our Quebec Getaway

Guest: Jannikins (Greenville area, SC)
Date of Stay: 05/31/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

Our "getaway" was lovely -- plenty of room, comfy bed, super snazzy bathroom with every shower gadget possible, simple, well designed kitchen, and very roomy living area! All was immaculately clean and attractive. We enjoyed air cond. in living area, but felt it didn't cool the bedroom sufficiently. A fan in bedroom would be helpful. The private rear terrace was perfect in the early morning and evening. You're overlooking the back alley, parking and railroad, but you are so high up (3rd floor on back side) that it doesn't intrude on your enjoyment of river view and lake and mountain in the background. We loved relaxing there when returning home each evening! The private entrance on the front street was well lit and,as someone who has had knee surgery, I found the the one flight of stairs to be VERY "user friendly" :-) and no problem at all! Just don't forget ( like we did) to feed the parking meters if you park on the street! Location, Location - the icing on the cake! We stepped out our door every day and were right there at interesting shops, great little cafes with sidewalk eating, and a beautiful park along the lake!! I think we walked off some of the calories from the delicious food we found everywhere. We decided to save Quebec City and Montreal for our next trip (can't wait to return), and opted to visit quaint villages and scenic areas instead. There are 3 mapped out routes recommended-all gorgeous! We chose the Townships Trail and visited the most beautiful villages. Flowers everywhere, views, friendly people, mountains, quaint villages. It was so relaxing!!! Just what the doctor ordered! I have to stop now or I'll be calling Agnes to return tomorrow!! :-)

Gem in the heart of Magog

Guest: kobie (St. Catharines, ON)
Date of Stay: 09/13/10 Review Submitted: 11/03/10

Located on the main street of Magog, the condo unit above the Owls Bread Bakery is a gem in the heart of the Eastern Townships. Spacious, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped, it the perfect romantic retreat for a couple or a comfortable get-away for a small family. Restaurants and shops are footsteps away. You will want to visit the bakery downstairs for a light lunch, artisan bread or delectable pastries. Find groceries at the nearby Metro Plus, because you will definitely want to dine in and enjoy the ambiance of the accommodation. Reasonably priced, this vacation haven has everything you need: a central location for sightseeing and atmosphere to relax and renew the spirit.

A wonderful gem in the heart of Magog

Guest: Iqaluit Momma (Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada)
Date of Stay: 07/16/10 Review Submitted: 07/30/10

Great place to stay in Magog! I stayed with my two sons for a long weekend in mid-July. The condo is very welcoming, a large unit with lots of room for 2 young boys to play. The space is nicely decorated, the kitchen contains all necessary cooking equipment, lots of space to relax, and there is a beautiful and very large balcony that overlooks the marina, complete with patio furniture and lounge chairs. There is lots of place to store luggage in the walk-in closet, plenty of linens provided for our sleeping arrangements, and a washer/dryer set that is a must for us. The unit has a much larger feel than the pictures appear. It should be noted that the tasty treats of the Owl's Bread Bakery are available just down stairs, and the amazing smells of the bakery make their way up to the condo in the morning to tempt you - Yummy! The location is fantastic. The condo is in walking distance to restaurants, bars, playground areas, the beach, and many, many other amenities. Magog’s main street also offers lots of shopping and unique finds. We only had a few minor glitches, which included someone parked in our space, a dripping air conditioner unit, and a washer leak, but all issues were taken care of immediately. Agnes was a fantastic host. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend, and in fact, our family of four are already planning our next stay for this coming fall.

Canadian get away

Guest: Elaine (Rhode Island USA)

Our trip to Magog was easy, we were given great directions, just 45 minutes from the Vermont boarder. All was nicely appointed in the condo, actually the photos didn't do justice to the lovely decor. . This condo was done in quality taste and was immaculate. All in all our stay was wonderful, there were so many things to see and do. Also, the restaurants and food were the greatest. Looking forward to returning in the Fall. The coffee downstairs was a nice touch!!

A one week stay at a bakery in the land of quality boulangeries and patisseries

Guest: Lamont (Burlington, ON, Canada)
Date of Stay: 06/09/10 Review Submitted: 06/22/10

Perfection vacation! Good food and quality dining, fine wines store, superb accommodation, friendly merchants, lake and riverside living. For the fitness conscious there are a variety of spas, endless cycling trails options, horseback riding, skiing in season, water sports and a miles-long promenade. For entertainment, Magog offers a three-screen cinema up the street, exceptional quality ice-cream parlours, concerts and series of lectures in summer. Down a peaceful country road, a must visit to a wondrous lavender farm that offers superior products to those of France. The beat goes on. Start with a week or longer stay at the 900 square foot quite exceptional apartment above the Owl's Bread Bakery on Rue Principale in Magog. The bakery/cafe is in the middle of the community, but no noticeable noise at night. Apartment is well furnished with lots of English/French language choices on the modern slim style television with DVD player. After a good night's sleep on a comfortable bed, pick up the morning papers anytime after 0630 just across the street - then come down for a light breakfast of fresh baked croissants and cafe au lait or tea. A most welcoming and friendly bakery staff. Enjoy your early morning yoga or exercise class on the terrasse. The apartment kitchen has all of the supplies needed. The bedding and towels well stocked. The bakery owners have thought of all the needs for the apartment. The Eastern Townships of Quebec offer a special style of vacation where French culture, food, wine, personal exercise/sport and health, Quebec-made crafts and gifts and la difference provide for a superior value vacation.

Guest: Keri from Connecticut (Burlington, Connecticut)
Date of Stay: 05/28/10 Review Submitted: 06/06/10

We spent 3 lovely nights at this property in Magog and were not disappointed at all. The condo was spacious, modern, clean, and had all of the conveniences of home. We especially loved relaxing on the terrace, overlooking the marina. The owners were lovely and very hospitable. In addition, the location was wonderful...so close to shopping, restaurants, and a short walk to the lake. We highly recommend this condo either for a short getaway, or for an extended stay.
