Peace, relaxation, solitude, with only the breeze or the cry of a soaring hawk to break the silence ... all surrounded by a 100-acre nature preserve with turkeys, deer, and even an occasional bear. Just seven miles from the center of eclectic and historic Asheville, North Carolina, and close to a host of Western North Carolina attractions and activities.
This 3,200 square foot home perched high on the side of a mountain at the end of a pristine forested drive offers stunning panoramic winter views and spring and summer views as well through the lush curtain of leaves from hardwoods standing as sentinels of your privacy. A uniquely constructed home of wood and rock that seamlessly blends with its mountain environment, the home features a 22-foot-high cathedral ceiling, two large stone fireplaces, and includes all the usual amenities plus a 6-person hot tub on the deck, broadband Internet, a CD/Tape/Radio sound system throughout the house and unlimited U.S. long distance calling. Completely furnished, it will comfortably accommodate 10 people.
The oversized master bedroom on the first floor has a king bed, TV, and the master bath features a full size tub, glass shower and two sinks. A second suite on the lower floor features two mission style queen beds, a massage chair and private bath. The third bedroom is furnished with a king bed, crib (linens not provided for crib) and rocking chair. All three bedrooms open directly to outside decks through large glass doors. The fourth bedroom has one queen bed. All linens and towels provided.
The large decks on both the top and bottom floors cover 1,500 square feet and offer a gazebo, rocking chairs and privacy for the perfect place to relax (and while no smoking is allowed inside, we provide sand buckets should you wish to smoke on the deck). With the gas grill, it’s also the perfect place to cook and dine. Or enjoy preparing gourmet meals in the fully equipped kitchen as you enjoy the mountain vistas through a large bay window. The kitchen includes full size appliances, including refrigerator with ice/water in the door, electric flat cook top with self cleaning oven, dishwasher, and microwave. You’ll find sharp knives, multitude of pots, pans and bake dishes, pizza pans, hand mixer, toaster, blender, and coffee grinder and maker. There’s also a full-size washer and dryer for your convenience. Off the kitchen you will find a small breakfast nook.
Lush, green and serene, the home is remarkably close to historic Asheville, with abundant shopping, dining, arts, and entertainment. Just 9 miles away is the world famous Biltmore House
Also visit the world famous Grove Park Inn & Spa less than 6 miles away, walk around Beaver Lake or Lake Louise, or picnic alongside the French Broad River only a 2 mile drive.. Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway, just 9 miles away.
Other area attractions and activities include: the quaint town of Weaverville, the 435-acre North Carolina Arboretum, the Pisgah National Forest (mountain biking, swimming, hiking), horseback riding, balloon rides, skiing at Wolf Laurel (19 miles), relaxing at the historic Hot Springs Spa (30 miles), Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, and, of course, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
But then you may find you’d just rather stay home and sit on the deck with a good book.

This was an excellent house for a large family. So roomy and spacious. We loved all the decks and balconies. It was clean and neat as a pin. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again and would certainly recommend it as a great getaway.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers.

This house fit our whole family. There were 11 of us including a 95 year old, teenagers & 9 mo old triplets, and it worked very well. Plenty of room. The kitchen was equiped better than any place we have stayed before. It was not far to a grocery, or to town & other places around Asheville. I would recomend this house for any group.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

Older than it looks. Two great master bedrooms. Two very modest single bedrooms. Not nearly enough TVs. Watch out for the brick retaining wall. Georgie was very helpful. Great washer/dryer. Dangerous stairwell -- part of it has NO RAILING on one side, so kids could get hurt. Wallpaper peeling. Not enough seating in either living area. Great woodshed full of dry wood. Only one trash receptacle for 10 people for a week.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: We appreciate your comments Bill, they help us make improvements. We had 3 television sets in the house - one on the first floor between the living room and kitchen, one in the first floor master bedroom and one large flat screen television in the downstairs living area. Since your stay, we have added a television in a downstairs bedroom making a total of 4 televisions in the house. We have removed the wallpaper in the kitchen, eat in kitchen area and master bathroom and added a trash can. It's always a good idea to look out for the rock retaining wall :) Thanks again for your comments.

We had the pleasure of staying here over the recent Christmas holiday. "We" was my husband and myself, our two adult daughters and their husbands, my mother and my daughter's two dogs. The house was spacious and well equipped, though sharper knives in the kitchen would have been appreciated by the cooks in the family. The beds were comfy, the linens soft and the showers had hot water. The hot tub was wonderful after days of hiking! Wood was available but we did not take advantage of the fireplace. We appreciated the addition of the Christmas tree and enjoyed the lights; the welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch. The stereo system was not in good working order (we were told this on arrival) and the one small problem with the washing machine was quickly remedied. Georgina was helpful from our first contact and graciously met us at the house an hour before check-in when we mis-judged our arrival time. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house yet took advantage of the ease with which we could get to Asheville or the local grocery store. The house was a perfect place for our "far-flung" family to gather for the holiday.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful spot! The house is so well stocked, comfortable and a terrific open layout. It worked out perfectly for our families and the kids loved the decks. We enjoyed morning coffee in the gazebo overlooking the valley. We so enoyed Asheville and the surrounding areas.....Sliding Rock, Max Patch, the Biltmore and Chimney Rock. Meals at Laughing Seed, Bouchon, Tupelo Honey Grill. Sunset from Grove Park Inn was spectacular. Thanks so muchDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house was perfect for our family Thanksgiving get-away. We had 6 people in the house and it was so comfortable. Cooking was lots of fun in the spacious kitchen, the hot tub was clean and warm on the cool nights. Although a challenge to find at first, the location is nicely out of the way of the city, but close enough that doing things wasn't a chore. We had a little trouble with the upstairs tv and stereo system, but it wasn't a problem, the down stairs has a nicer tv, and the owner helped with the stereo system. The bathrooms are a little dated but clean (not great water pressure). We enjoyed going into Asheville and of course seeing the Biltmore Estates and village. Antler Village was also nice. We went to the Western Carolina Nature Center one afternoon and the Arboretum as well...Good grocery stores close by and good restaurants too. I would definitely recommend this property.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Ideally located so we could have the Asheville experience as well as the peace and quiet of the woods. Plenty of room inside and out for grandchildren, dog, as well as several adults. Breakfasts on the gazebo with birdsong; a hot tub on one of the two enormous decks; lovely views of the forest and the mountains beyond; John, the gracious owner nearby; Twelve Bones Barbecue not too far away; Spashville even closer-this was the perfect vacation retreat!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
