Casa Zona Tropical is not your typical vacation rental. It was built as a private residence so it is truly a home away from home... but on a Caribbean beach. It is situated in the lush tropical rainforest with the Caribbean Sea in your front yard.
We are located on the side of Isla Carenero that is know for it's crystal clear ocean and is still unpopulated enough to have maintained the old growth rain forest. We awake to parrots overhead in the mornings, watch boats and banana ships pass by all day and occasionally see a sloth (with a baby if we're lucky) in the trees just a few feet from out deck. The view from our front deck is toward Isla Bastimentos and Isla Solarte and some great surf breaks are just down the beach.
Just outside our home there is great snorkeling,diving, surfing, vast stretches of unspoiled beach, turquoise water and enough open-air restaurants built over the ocean to really give you that Caribbean vacation experience that you are looking for. In addition to all that, and unlike many other areas of the Caribbean, Bocas del Toro is in a hurricane free zone.
Bocas del Toro (Isla Colon on some maps) is just an hour flight from either Panama City or San Jose,Costa Rica. Our home on Isla Carenero is just a 4 minute ride by the readily available water taxis to Bocas town with its restaurants, airport, shopping, etc. If you don’t wish to leave the island for meals, but don't want to cook in our fully equipped & modern kitchen either, there is a thatch roofed restaurant built over the ocean nearby that offers great food and drinks.
Casa Zona Tropical offers so much more privacy and space than a hotel or a resort can provide. We have tried to equip the house with everything you’ll need to make you feel at home.
All of our spacious rooms have vaulted ceilings, all bedrooms are together on the upper level and offer either rainforest or ocean views. The dining/living room opens with a wall of French doors to the spacious 54 x 14 ft front deck that has both a hammock & two chaise lounges for relaxing, plus table & chairs for alfresco dining.
Every room in our home(including the bathrooms)and the front deck has high-efficiency ceiling fans for those times when the tropical breezes aren't enough.
