New and improved! We've replaced all the windows with hurricane windows. While we were at it, we put new windows in the gables to really open up the views. It was nice before, it is terrific now!
Come experience Southern Comfort's incredible views and relax to the sound of the surf. Enjoy the views from nearly every room in the house. Hang out on the main deck (with sun in the morning, shade in the afternoon), or the side deck (shade in the morning, sun in the afternoon).
Prefer the beach? You are just a short walk away. When you are finished with the beach, clean up in the outdoor hot/cold shower.
Enjoy your privacy? Southern Comfort is located between a private cul-de-sac to the West and an open lot extending to the beach to the East.
The deck will provide parents a piece of mind, with a latching gate at the top of the stairs and closely placed balusters to avoid injury.
We have spent to past five years updating Southern Comfort to make it as enjoyable as possible. With new furniture in the family room, new carpet and window coverings throughout, updated fixtures and bathrooms, new roof and new exterior paint, this beach house is truly our pride and joy.

We really liked staying at Southern Comfort! It is a lovely, cozy home with relaxing views of the beach. This was our first time, but we felt so at home. Our two boys didn't want to leave! Thank you Jean for the opportunity to stay in your house. The location and house was great. It was a very nice beach house but was very comfurtable at the same time. You weren't worried about messing something up, you just had fun and relaxed. I WILL be making plans to stay there again. I would recommend this house to anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The stay was excellent! Peaceful, away from the Galveston traffic. Accommodations were great, modern and clean. There is a convenient grocery store and gas station just 1/4 mile down which was great also. The beach is about 100 yards away and there is a shower downstairs to get all that sand and sunscreen off, after coming from the beach.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

THIS IS SIMPLY THE PLACE TO GO WITH A FAMILY. WE HAVE BEEN BEFORE & WILL RETURN FOR SURE. SOMETHING NEW WE FOUND THIS TIME IS A HORSEBACK RIDING OUTFIT ABOUT 1/4 MILE EAST OF THE PROPERTY DOWN A DIRT ROAD RIGHT BEFORE YOU REACH THE RV PARK(BIG YELLOW BUILDINGS IN REAR). THIS WAS FABULOUS, FOR ABOUT $40/PERSON WE RODE ON THE BEACH ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE STATE PARK, EVEN IN THE SURF !! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE OWNERS/PROPERTY, SUCH A CLASS OPERATION!! WE STAYED ALMOST A WEEK & IT RAINED MOST OF THE TIME, BUT WE STILL HAD A BLAST. RODE HORSES IN THE RAIN, SURFED SHELLS IN THE RAIN & GRILLED/CHILLED UNDER THE CRIB IN THE RAIN...AWESOME TIME....WILL BE BACK !!!!!! THANKS JEAN !!!! OH YEAH, WE LEFT THE HORSEBACK CONTACT NUMBER ON THE CORKBOARD INSIDE. GO PASS A GOOD TIME...WON'T REGRET IT !!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Southern Comfort. The house is clean, beautifully decorated and well stocked. We utilized the kitchen, although there are several restaurants in driving distance. The house has new furniture throughout, several TVs, fans, and new appliances and surfaces in the kitchen. The beach is VERY close and not over-crowded. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the Gulf from the spacious deck. The owner was gracious and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this house for a family vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I almost hate to tell y'all about this place, in case it gets so popular that I can't rent it next summer, but this place is amazing. My sister and I are pretty much the most persnickety people on the earth, and we were thrilled with everything about the whole rental experience and this house. The owners were wonderful from start to finish and beyond. This place has all of the amenities (like cooking and eating utensils, a washer and dryer, an outside hot and cold shower, a grill with propane at the ready, blender, toaster, coffeemaker, brand new dishwasher, new full-sized fridge/freezer that's way nicer than mine at home, etc.). Sigh. Heavenly.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and sister's family rented this gorgeous beach house for 4 nights and had an amazing time. The house itself is lovely and very thoughtfully, tastefully decorated. We were only a few short steps to the beach and had a beautiful, unobstructed view of the ocean from the deck (which is huge and has comfy lounge chairs and a picnic table). The house has a lot of amenities (dozens and dozens of kids' DVDs, TVs in each room, blenders, kitchen utensils, gas grill, etc.)........but by far the most-utilized feature was the outdoor shower. My 7-year-old never took a shower inside! The master bedroom bed is so comfortable I want one just like it in my house. The owners are incredibly friendly and make themselves completely available to us by phone, text and email. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Galveston.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We stayed here for a long weekend trip with our two kids. There are plenty of toys & movies to entertain young kids and adults, if the beach isn't enough! The house has very easy access to the beach, a wonderful deck with beach view, and plenty of room for everyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family absolutely loved staying at Southern Comfort. The house was beautiful and very well maintained. We found everything we needed and more at the house. The short walk to the beach was perfect for our children. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and being able to see the ocean. Our children loved being able to play out on the deck. The Wigle's also had toys and movies for children which definitley came in handy. Loved having a washing machine and dryer to use while there. It was a short drive to get back to the seawall which was perfect when we wanted to go out to dinner or go have fun in town. Jean was definitely a pleasure to work with and I would definitley recommend this property to anyone that I know.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was the PERFECT location. Far enough outside of town to avoid the crowds, but close enough to drive in for anything that is needed. We were literally a stone's throw from the water, and when we weren't on the water, we were enjoying the view from the large patio. Everyone was in agreeance that Southern Comfort was a perfect place to spend a nice beach vacation. I would recommend to anyone!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We live in Houston and wanted a getaway that was close enough to visit on short notice but far enough to be a true getaway. The location is perfect ... just over one hour away, but a world away from the day-to-day pace of Houston.

Whether you are in the house, on the deck or on the beach, the views of Gulf of Mexico and the sounds of the surf are sure to relax you. We especially enjoy boogie boarding and kayaking in the surf. If you are a bocce player, bring your bocce set for a great game on the beach. And at night, break out the flashlights and try your hand at sand crab hunting! And when you are done at the beach, enjoy our incredible oversized outdoor shower.
