Back for our fifth year in a row to our "Home Away from Home". The cottage has once again been updated with new patio furniture, umbrellas and beach umbrellas to make the lounging in the oasis of a backyard even more relaxing. New interior furniture, lamps and table as well. We spent a lot more time indoors this year as the weather was just very similar to 2010. We appreciated the good heating system and only were able to open the windows a few times throughout our stay. Complete change from the weather last year when we had the windows open throughout our stay and never had the heat on once. We continue to love our walks on the beautiful beach or relaxing on the front lanai, Sue's favourite spot. We will be back again for our sixth visit next year and know the weather will be back to normal. This cottage was a beautiful sweet memory as a child in the 1960's. I was so happy to see it return to the vacation rental market and in such lovely condition. I am a native Floridian but most of my best vacation memories are ones in the Tampa Bay area so I regularly stay "home". There's no better beaches anywhere! This vacation cottage is equipped like no other I've ever stayed. Bring your iThingies if you want to enjoy your own tunes. That's it! When not enjoying the beach, the back deck and front porch elevated relaxing to a fine art. Stella enjoyed lizard hunting in the back yard. Naturally, the beach was beautiful, easily accessible, and not crowded. Upon the recommendation of ealier reviewers, we walked across the street to The Reef for fresh seafood to cook/grill. Fabulous! I do recommend Beverly's for breakfast and enjoyed cruising the Corey shopping area and John's Pass too. It's a short drive down the beach, but worth the time. I recommend the fresh croissant french toast and the baked omelette at Beverly's. Thanks for making everything so easy Debra! We'll be back for girls week at the beach in 2013! The only thing I'll bring from home is the ice cream maker! Karen, Leisa, Stella (woof), & DianeOwner response: Now the 'the world' knows about our quaint Beach Cottage!! It was such a pleasure to have guests with memories of by-gone years! So glad our previous guests comments guided you to a delightful 'seafood cookout'!! Now our 'next' guests will have something new to try at Beverly's for breakfast...thanks for the tip!! We look forward to having you back...hopefully year after year! Debra

We are back again for our fourth year in a row to our "home away from home". Once again new improvements make this cottage one of the best on the beach. New instant hot water heating, new heat pump, new indoor and outdoor furniture are just a few of the changes from last year. It is great to see an owner continue to make a great property even better each year. The fenced-in backyard continues to provide protection for our dog and is a great area to soak up the sun on a breezy day when the beach is too cool or windy. The lanai continues to be one of Sue’s favourite areas to relax, read and take in some filtered sun. Your continued efforts to make this cottage such a gem on the beach makes us look forward each year to returning to soak up the sun, walk the beach and enjoy the wonderful local restaurants and stores that we frequent on an almost daily basis. The weather this year has been simply amazing, with cool evenings to get a wonderful sleep combined with 80 degrees days most of February and March. The ability to open the windows and make use of the screens is wonderful. We have yet to cool off the cottage with the new air conditioning system although a few cool nights required the heat pump to be used in February. If you want to get great value for your money you can’t go wrong with the Beach Cottage on Redington Shores, one of the best kept secrets in the area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our 2nd stay at Beach Cottage was even better than the 1st. The new kitchen, well laid out with plenty of storage space and good appliances, comes with a delightful breeze passing through while doing food prep ! As the weather was most cooperative, the backyard was used on many occasions, for dining, for grilling, for lounging, for reading, for enjoying the radio (even has Canadian Content) The cottage is well maintained and managed with attention to detail and its location is ideal in a very pleasant neighbourhood a stone's throw from the beach. We strolled along the beach to Bad Ass Cafe for muffins, sandwiches and coffee on several occasions, enjoyed dinner at Gulf Bistro, French restaurant run by a charming couple from France, went for evening walks for icecream at the Candy Factory, even the folks at the 711 were welcoming. The Reef fish store provided the ingredients for several delicious dinners. Took the trolley bus to various places along the route and often walked the beach back home. We truly appreciate being able to spend some time at Beach Cottage and thank everyone who makes our stay possible, especially Aunt Mary !Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners.
Owner response: Margaret & Tony- We are so glad you enjoyed your 'first' month long stay in Florida!! It's so nice to hear how you spent your time, as many future guests will no doubt 'follow in your footsteps' to enjoy their vacation. We truly hope that you will be able to return year after year for a little break from the Nova Scotia Winter and lots of Florida Sunshine!! Our repeat guests and their comments speak volumes to our future guests, thank you! Until next year, take care and be safe! Debra

My family had a great vacation at this quaint and charming beach cottage. It was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. The family/owners are friendly and accommodating. They made everything super easy and all went smoothly from the reservation process to the follow-up after our stay. The cottage has very nice upgrades in the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need - we did a lot of cooking and we found every pan, pot and utensil we needed. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. We enjoyed the screened front porch (a nice place to have a glass of wine and read a good book) and the relaxing backyard oasis. Wonderful sitting areas in the back - made better by a grill, large umbrellas, twinkle lights, outdoor speaker for music and shaded pergola. The outdoor shower was enjoyable when returning from an afternoon at the beach. The house is small but never felt that way - it felt wonderfully cozy and my family had plenty of space. The Redington Shores area is really nice and the cottage is in a great little neighborhood environment and conveniently located to many local eateries and attractions. There is a fresh fish market within walking distance - nice selection of delicious seafood with a very friendly and helpful staff. The beach is a short stroll from the cottage - easy to go back and forth for lunch, etc - and perfect to walk down and catch one of many beautiful sunsets. We did not want to leave our little home away from home and are already talking about going back to stay again and again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners.

Our family enjoyed are stay at the cottage. My daughter has her friend stay over a couple of nights and the place sleeps four comfortably. The beach is just 25 yards away. The fireworks on the beach for July 4th were amazing. You can see multiple cities from the beach. Great show for hours. Kenny's Corner is walking distant for a good breakfast at a great price. There are other restaurants within walking distance and quite a few within a couple of miles. We drove to Disney World for the day and it was an easy drive to make (1.5 hours). Our favorite part of this house is the outside oasis. We enjoyed the outdoor shower, the party lights, the grill area, and the large deck. Add a hammock and you would have the perfect outdoor area. You can tell the owners of this house care about there renters. We will definitely visit and stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

My husband and I truly enjoyed our two week stay at our little bit of Paradise in Florida. I must say the front screened in porch and the perfect private backyard were the highlights of our stay in this sweet cottage VERY near the beach. We found it very comfortable for the two of us and the spare bedroom would be suitable for a young child. The newly renovated kitchen is A1 and I didn't mind cooking at all! The BBQ in the backyard got alot of use and my husband LOVED the big screen TV. We would have booked for 2012 but it was already taken for the month we were interested and YES we would go back again!! Thanks Debra for the wonderful time!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway
Owner response: Nancy & Earl-Thank you so much for your comments! We are glad to know you will be returning to the area again next year, just wish you could have stayed with us! Enjoy gathering again with all your friends from Nova Scotia! Have a wonderful summer!

We are back again for our third year in a row to our "home away from home". We arrived to be blown away by even more improvements from last year. A completely new kitchen, including new floor, counter tops, cupboards, sink ( that now looks out over the backyard ), microwave, stove, fridge ( with ice maker ), new slow cooker, coffee maker etc. etc. and plenty of storage space to hold all our goodies. Sue was so pleased with the new look. It was great to watch the Super Bowl game on a new flat screen TV that made the viewing all the more exciting. New lounge chairs on the back patio, new umbrellas, privacy screens for the outdoor dining area, some new patio area ( but still enough green for the dog ), new mirrored walls in the living room, a new headboard in the master, a new floor in the linai along with some decor changes have made the "beach cottage" even better than ever. It is great to see an owner take pride in providing yearly upgrades on such a fabulous property. Thanks so much Debra, Mike and Diana for all your work. We know Mary must be very proud of your efforts. Everyone we have had over in our first week are amazed at the quality workmanship that has gone in to making this one of the best properties near the beach. The fenced-in backyard continues to provide protection for our dog and cat. They love the freedom to come and go when they need to. We hope to make this wonderful property our "home away from home" for many years to come. Your efforts to provide a homey feel to the cottage that fits with its original style is greatly appreciated. The beach cottage will provide you with all you will ever need in a great location near plenty of restaurants and a fabulous beach. We look forward to some warmer weather where we can enjoy the back patio more along with the fabulous beach walks, sunsets and sunbathing. What a joy to be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sue & Al- Thank you so much for all your kind comments! We couldn't wait for you to return and see all the improvements since last winter! We, too, hope to continue to Wow! you year after and year. Welcome back home!! Debra

The Beach Cottage is wonderful. You are very close to the beach. The neighborhood is very nice and friendly. The online pictures do not do the cottage justice. I am originally from Florida and this is a dream spot. The backyard is fantastic. We had a birthday cookout/party for my husband and there was plenty of room. The way it is set up is great. We highly recommend this cottage and are looking forward to returning. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Just writing to say that staying at the cottage again was twice as nice! This time I did bring my Mom, Sister, Nephew along with my Daughter and me again. Debra was a jewel as always, and seeing her family again was a treat. We really did feel as though we were coming "home," especially after staying there last year also. My family LOVED the cottage and agreed it is the nicest and most comfortable place we've ever stayed in our travels. Debra and her family feel like old friends even though we've only communicated by e-mails! It is my hope that we will be able to spend some time at the cottage every year. We used every space in and outside the cottage. Having the beach down the street is a plus, as is the outside shower in the private back yard. You truly won't find a more reasonably priced, or more lovingly cared for property in the area. The remodeling upgrades looked fantastic! The care and concern shown by the owner's family is reason alone to come back again and again. So God willing, we'll see you next year! Tee, Ree and the rest of the family :o)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cottage is absolutely perfect. My boyfriend and I were looking to join friends on vacation in Redington Shores; they had already rented a condo on the beach. We looked at several condos, then found this place. Something told us to go with this. The first day there, we checked in, unpacked, got settled, then headed down the beach to meet our friends at their condo for dinner. When we walked into their condo, we cast glances at each other; we knew we had made the right decision. We had all the amenities they had -- high speed wireless internet, cable TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, outdoor grill -- but we also had a homey, charming place that they did not. Theirs was like a hotel; ours was a place we loved returning to after a day on the beach. The backyard is indescribably beautiful and private. The outdoor shower is a joy when you are covered in sand. The king size bed is so comfortable...in fact, we peeked at the brand because we are seriously thinking of replacing our bed, and this one is perfect. If you are thinking of vacationing in Florida, choose Redington Shores. And if you choose Redington Shores, choose this house. You will not regret it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind remarks! Its so helpful to others considering our beach cottage! We continue to improve the cottage, each year, without taking away from its charm. We look forward to having you stay again when you plan to visit the area!

Relaxing on the front porch with coffee and a book, walking the beach to check on new bird arrivals, strolling to the fish market to "catch" supper, playing at the nearby Tides golf course, striding along the boardwalk in Boca Ciega Park, catching an English premiership game of soccer on TV are but a few of the things that delighted us during our stay at Beach Cottage. Our thanks to Debra who is so helpful and of course to Aunt Mary too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 10/10

We are back, and happy to be here in our beach cottage "home away from home." Many new improvements have been made since our visit last year to make our stay this year even more pleasant. The new decor additions, including new fans, painting and screens have all made for a great stay. Sue especially likes the improved television service and WiFi that have allowed us to talk each week to our children using Skype. We know you will enjoy this superb rental if you choose to make it your destination of choice. We are looking forward to enjoying the beach as the weather gets warmer. We have made excellent use of the many great restaurants that are so close to the cottage. If you choose to make this a "home away from home" you will not be disappointed. I can say without question that if you’re thinking of visiting this wonderful area on the Gulf you should give this cottage a try. My husband and I have relatives near-by that we’ve visited often over the years and we’ve stayed in many different places. None have been as perfect as this quaint and cozy “Old Florida” cottage. It’s a home away from home with all the comforts you can think of. Every room is well appointed as is the back yard with two separate seating areas and an outdoor shower. There was nothing we needed that we couldn’t find. Debra has truly thought of everything, including many unique and decorative touches. The cottage is situated a stone’s throw from the beach. It’s very easy to find your way to a multitude of wonderful restaurants and shopping. We greatly enjoyed a visit to Weeki Wachee where the mermaids swim and where my husband swam as a boy. We had a perfect day visiting museums in St. Petersburg and then a wonderful meal at the famous Columbia restaurant on the wharf. There are many places to discover and things to do using the cottage as home base. But my favorite memory is of my husband and me sitting on the enclosed front porch with our first cup of coffee in the morning listening to the doves cooing. Throw in watching the occasional summer lightning storm while sitting safely on the porch and you know that you’re somewhere very special. The perfection of the peace and tranquility of the cottage was difficult to leave. We’ll stay again and make even more discoveries.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

Our family recently stayed in the Beach Cottage and found it lovely and charming. It had everything we needed, from beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, cable TV to detergent for the in-house washer/dryer. The beach is wonderfully close and the cottage is conveniently located to everything we wanted to see, i.e., Busch Gardens, boating, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, etc. The five of us stayed comfortably, the new trundle bed in the 2nd bedroom was a perfect addition for our 4yo and 1yo. The single sleeper in the LR perfect for the 12yo who didn't want to share a room w/her 2 little siblings. Wonderful backyard w/outdoor shower and just an all around perfect set-up for a family with young children. We would definitely stay here again if we ever were to return to the area.Owner response: We are so pleased your family enjoyed the Beach Cottage. Thank you so much for your comments..our future guests will appreciate them!

My daughter and I just returned from a relaxing week long stay at this cottage. From the moment we arrived, we felt so at home! It is clean and cozy, exactly as shown in the pictures. Debra was a gem! She really worked with our special requests to make our stay super comfortable. The outdoor shower was great, nice stretch of beach nearby and a lovely deck for evening star gazing and enjoying the warm gulf breezes. We felt safe in the neighborhood. The beach is just up the way, which allowed us to take a late night stroll. We will definitely be staying again in the future. Don't pack much, they have everything you need, even beach towels, umbrellas, fishing gear, you name it. Overall one of the best "home away from homes" we've stayed in. Thanks again to Deb and Aunt Mary. God Bless till we meet again! Tee and Ree from Kansas :o)Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind comments! When our guests are happy....we are happy!! We just returned from a week long stay. We found everything we needed. Having a washer and dryer is ideal. We also enjoyed grilling on the back deck. The shower on the back deck is ideal and allows two people to shower at once, my kids preferred the outdoor shower. The beach is lovely, wonderful for swimming. We found loads of sand dollars and a dolphin swam up within 15 feet. We will definitely return for another trip.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

We have stayed several long weekends at this delightful little cottage. It it just the right setting for a casual stay at the beach, we didn't have to worry about the kids messing anything up. It's beachproof! The bathroom is small, but you're not in there long enough for it to matter. We usually showered outside on the back deck, the kids loved it! Thank you for making it economical for us. We will return again and again!Owner response: We are happy to advise our future rentors of a recent remodel to the bathroom, almost doubling its orginal size! We have also updated the furnishings to make your stay more comfortable. We will supply additional photos when you email!
