Came back to North Carolina for a family getaway. We live in Sacramento, California. This was our two kids first time going swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. This home, its location and the views from the decks by far exceeded our expectations. This home in California easily would be a $ 5 million dollar home for location and views alone. The property was clean and we had all the utensils that we needed. We ate at home for most meals and was very comfortable. We did eat out a few times at the "Island Grill." What a great restaurant to be within walking distance. The menu was diverse and the selections of fresh seafood was nice to have. I don't know if you put a price on how convenient it is to walk from the back deck and go maybe 50 yards and be on the beach. We had access to the homes many beach items/toys. My wife and I enjoyed the umbrellas, beach chairs and buckets. The kids loved the skim boards, boogie boards, and various items used to dig sand castles. Buckets, shovels and diggers. It is a little difficult to travel 3000 miles to go to the beach, but I can guarantee the next time we come east to the ocean, this is where we are going. I can't emphasize enough how convenient it was to have all the beach items at our disposal. We have tried to do the beach, toy and walk thing in a hotel for the last time. One of our meals in, we bought local fresh large shrimp from Johnny Davis at High Tide Seafood on Hwy 70. We steamed them outside. They were awesome. Missing them now! My one disappointment, I could only find 2 sharks teeth walking up and down the wide and deep beautiful beach. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!!!!!!

New Years Beach Visit

Guest: love the beach fam (Triangle, NC)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/04/12

My family and I went to Atlantic Beach after Christmas through New Years. This is the fourth time we have stayed in this home. It has been a great experience each time. The kids love going to the beach and they request that we go back to this home year after year. The home is clean, comfortable and we have had a very easy time working with the owner. There is not another place on the beach that our family will go to. This place is nice, fun and the views and easy few steps to the beach cannot be beaten. We have been to Nags Head, Sea Island, Ga, Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and it doesn't get any better for a family than this place. Thanks for wonderful memories.

Great Ocean Views

Guest: Moose (New York)
Date of Stay: 08/21/11 Review Submitted: 12/11/11

The views from this house are amazing! The house suited it's purpose, and although our trip was cut in half by a hurricane, we enjoyed our time at the house. The owners did not refund us any of our money (we did not ask them to), but they offered us a long weekend in the fall (unfortunately we were not able to use). They were flexible in our booking weeks, and kept in close contact with us during the aprroaching hurricane. Upon arrival the door knob was broken and hanging out of the door. The owner quickly repaired this. We enjoyed the space and access to the beach, but could have used more kitchen supplies. Everything there was very minimal and in old condition. The living room furniture was in terrible condition, holes in the chairs and broken couch. The blinds in the master bedroom were falling apart. We also noticed a lot of cleanliness issues, as it seemed the housekeeper skipped over a lot of the "cleaning" jobs. There was dog hair all over the floors, bathrooms were dirty, and just general housekeeping was poor. There were a lot of "sand fleas" in the bunk bed bedroom. Our recommendation would be to hire a new cleaning service. Overall we feel like the house was a fair value for what we paid. With some minor changes it could be an amazing place to stay!

Great place to stay

Had a great stay at this property. Everything was as described. Had one minor problem finding the key but a quick call to the owner solved the problem quickly. The picture do no do this property justice. Only one minor downside the washer and dryer are down in the garage but not really a problem. Fantastic place to stay and would stay here again.

AWESOME VIEW

Guest: Kelly (Thomasville, NC, USA)
Date of Stay: 10/01/11 Review Submitted: 10/07/11

Positives: The view was breathtaking and not one you find very often, even if you do stay oceanfront! The duplex was very spacious and well-equipped. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of eating space. Lots of beach equipment to use (chairs, boogie boards, etc.) Bright cheery paint on walls. Multiple televisions/DVD players. Extra fans for use. Private/secluded- the adjoining duplex is very 'out of sight.' Great that they allow dogs for no extra fee! Lots of books provided for reading. Extremely easy walk to the beach. Drawbacks: Living room furniture in very poor repair- sofa springs were busted and it made the sofa uncomfortable; small chair with rips- could see the frame on the armrests! Stale odor to air and furniture- needs Febreezed! Dirty throw rugs in front of kitchen sink and in front of all shower stalls. Blankets in hall closet full of dog hair and very smelly. Carpet needs cleaning over entire house- multiple stains- likely adds to unfresh odor to the air. Vertical blinds in master bedroom falling apart- leaves large gaps in wondow coverage, taking away from privacy! Prior to arrival, I sent owner payment and asked a couple of questions re: is there a coffee pot, etc- no reponse. Nearby Four Corners Restaurant has great breakfast. Skippers Cove is a TERRIBLE seafood buffet- skip it. Beaufort is very quaint, with great little shops. Lots to do and see in Morehead City, as well. Overall- we had a good time- would just recommend that the owners haev a word with the housekeeper they are paying- his/her services are not doing justice to this great duplex! And take more pictures to post for viewers to see...the rooms are wonderful and it would have made my choice to stay here much easier and would have given me peace of mind regarding what I was coming to!

Great Oceanfront Views!

Date of Stay: 06/26/11 Review Submitted: 07/03/11

My family loved this house. The view from the living room and master bed room were the best I have seen in a long time and we have been coming to the beach for 20 years.( all oceanfront) The house is equipped with just about everything you need for a good time at the beach.Do not let the lack of pictures deture you from this house, it is a very clean and comfortable house. All the rooms were very spaciouse. The vacant lot next to the house was a plus, especially for our dog Cesar. Atlantic beach is a very beautiful wide beach and is very dog friendly. The one downside we had with it was that the road is narrow and parking for a extra large vehicle was difficult.(F350 truck)

My family had a great time and an extremely relaxing stay in this duplex. We loved the layout of the place and the view was wonderful. The house was clean, and we found everything we needed. We set up our canopy on the beach and it stayed there all week. We’ll go back again!

Very Relaxing and Enjoyable Week!!!!

Guest: Kim (Roanoke, VA )
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 06/30/10

First and foremost.. my family had an AWESOME time here.. It was very private and secluded from the public beach access!! It was wonderful. The duplex was great. It looked just like the pictures. The house was very clean, had the porch furniture that was in the picture, and definitely fit our needs for the week. No house is perfect and there are always imperfections in the most perfect house.. but for being at the beach for a week, it was definitely perfect!!! I would definitely recommend this to my friends and I plan to come back. It was perfect for my family..

Disappointing weekend!!!!!!

Guest: SOO Sad (Raleigh,NC USA)
Date of Stay: 05/28/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/10

We stayed here for the Memorial day weeked and I must agree this duplex does have a great oceanfront view. Sadly that is the only positive thing I can say. The only room that appeared to be remodeled was the half bath. All other rooms were in need of serious repair, esp the ceilings and walls. There was visable mold on the walls in both bathrooms and the whole house smelled of mildew. The furinture, carpets and bedding were very soiled. The table and umbrella shown in the deck picture were not there. We were extemely disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
