Mountain Cleft Retreat, next door to Glacier National Park, is the perfect choice for your next 'escape the world' getaway. This secluded wilderness refuge is a quiet and lovely European style house set in the magnificent Montana mountain wilderness. A charming twenty-acre paradise, it is located just one mile from the wild and scenic Flathead River where the North Fork and Middle Fork converge, a popular spot to fish, whitewater raft, kayak, or canoe. Retreat accommodates up to 28 when the Alpine House, this listing, is combined with the Alpine Cottage, listing 451633, and the Glacier Chalet, listing 451634, on this same property. (See property diagram in photo section, next-to-last photo). Check with owner for availability of Alpine House.
The retreat is just eight miles from the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park. Breathtaking mountain views, wilderness solitude, abundant wildlife, herb and flower gardens, forests and meadows, combined with private, beautiful accommodations and every comfort to make you feel relaxed, revitalized, and pampered.
The retreat's secluded alpine wilderness location, bordering Flathead National Forest and Glacier National Park, affords frequent opportunities to observe wildlife. Bear, moose, and deer are frequent visitors here, so be sure to bring your camera!
The Alpine House is one of 3 units onsite. The Alpine House has a sleeping capacity of 16. As indicated above, when combined with the Alpine Cottage and Glacier Chalet, the retreat can sleep 28 or more. Whether you are a family on vacation, or a larger group such as a family reunion or other special occasion, Mountain Cleft Retreat can serve your needs.
Bedrooms include a king, queens, and bunk beds, as well as sofa beds. Private bedrooms have beautifully hand-painted wall art, down comforters, and decorator linens. The den has a gas log fireplace, a large sheepskin rug, comfortable fireplace chairs, and two couches. The den exits to a beautiful private garden with grill, and umbrella table and chairs for relaxation and eating.
A fully equipped kitchen and dining facilities are available for guest use. We also provide high-speed wireless Internet.
Upon entering the Alpine House, stairs and an arched doorway transport you to the spacious, romantic Old World style king bedroom suite with down comforter, bedroom library, and reading chair. The handsome corner wardrobe provides a place for clothing, and windows on both sides of the room look out onto the surrounding Montana woods. This room has an elegant private bathroom with 2-person whirlpool tub.
A few steps up from this bedroom is the Great Room with cathedral ceiling, living room with overstuffed red velvet furniture, a two story stone fireplace with a gas log fire, and a full bathroom. A balcony off the Great room overlooks the front flower gardens. Graceful arched doorways, stained glass windows, hand painted wall art, tapestry rugs, an iron chandelier, and skylights makes this room a breathtaking hideaway.
Stairs up from the Great Room take you to an upper loft, a combination library/bedroom/business center, with a queen sofa bed, desk, skylights, and windows overlooking spectacular mountain, forest, and meadow views.
Washers and dryers are available in the retreat for guests to use as needed.

Everything at the mountain cleft resort was exactly what we anticipated or even better! The rooms were beautifully decorated, beds were great, plenty of towels, and the kitchens had all we needed for making our meals. We were a family of 25 persons, grandchildren ages 9 mos to 23 and all had a great time- plenty of games and even toys for the little ones to "play house." I would highly recommed this for any age groups to enjoy a lovely place near the west entrance to Glacier-one of the most beautiful National Parks!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I reserved this for a family reunion. It was fantastic. We could fit everyone under one roof, very comfortably. There was 16 of us and never was there waiting for the bathroom or anything the like. The place was fantastic and had everything we needed for any meal we needed to cook. The deck was the favorite place to hang out and the fire pit couldnt be beat. It was only 20 minutes to Glacier and 20 minutes to Columbia Falls. Secluded enough but close to everything. Saw two black bears within 2 miles of the place, but none in Glacier of course. Family said they wouldnt mind coming back her for every family reunion. Grandma, who is getting up there, says "if this place was closer to home then absolutely, but I don't like traveling anymore" So it looks like the one stay is going to be it for our family. In the 18 years we have been doing family reunions this rental takes the cake.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: John, we're delighted your family had a great reunion at Mountain Cleft Retreat. You're all welcome back anytime. Clyde and Melissa Morgan Owners

Our family has just returned from a magical week at Mountain Cleft Retreat, refreshed in body mind and spirit. This wonderful property offers comfort, seclusion, and an environment to enhance wonderful family gatherings. The special touches in decor, convenience, and proximity to Glacier Park and the Flathead River helped us maximize our times of recreation and enjoyment. In addition to 4 separate bedrooms, other areas are available for groups to find space for quiet reading, television viewing or wonderful meals together. The kitchen is well equipped and efficient. Refrigerator/freezer held food for 12 for the entire week. Outdoor grill and garden, yet another space for family enjoyment.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Tabitha, we're really glad your family enjoyed the retreat and had a great time. Thank you for staying with us. We hope you can come again.

Glacier Chalet was the perfect place for our Glacier Nat'l Park vacation. Adorable, relaxing, secluded and quiet. The balcony is a great place to drink your morning coffee , then drive 10 minutes to Glacier Park. Helicopter ride and the huckleberry pie from the Huckleberry Patch in Hungry Horse highly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just had a great week here. Everything was first class. This is like having your own house in the middle of thousands of acres. Beautiful drive to Glacier Nat. Park, Whitefish and other fun places. The owner was awesome and gave true "southern hospitality"...Montana style.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
