Take a step back in time in your completely renovated Bucks County stone farmhouse located in the historic river village of Point Pleasant, Pennsylvania, 9 miles north of New Hope, and just steps away from the Delaware River. The house was built c. 1760 and has been fully and meticulously restored within the past five years to include all the modern amenities and luxuries while preserving its original elements. It is the perfect getaway for couples or a wonderful place for families to spend time together. Although it exceeds the best area bed and breakfasts in quality, decor and comfort, children are welcome here unlike the local inns. It is truly a special destination for the discriminating traveller.

The "original" section of the house has retained its 18th century charm and detail including two fireplaces; a large stone fireplace in the living room and a fireplace with wood mantle in the master bedroom; original pumpkin pine wide plank floors, deep window sills and beamed ceilings. There are two bedrooms in the original section; one with a pencil post double bed and one with a day bed that can be used as two twin beds or a king size bed, and a crib. The living room is a large size and beautifully furnished with fine art and antiques. The bedrooms are lovely and cozy and overlook the Tohickon Creek and Geddes Run Creek.

The family room, which is part of a modern addition built over stone foundation to the original "summer kitchen", can be converted to a private guest room with a queen size pull-out couch and private bathroom. The high end gourmet kitchen is also part of a newer addition. It is equipped with a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Viking range, wine refrigerator, microwave, dish washer and oven. The kitchen has granite countertops, hand-made local Moravian tiles and custom cabinetry. There is a large window with french antique table looking out onto the park-like property. The dining area has a vaulted ceiling and large antique pine farm table which seats eight people comfortably. The comfortable and sophisticated family room has two couches and a television. It has a vaulted ceiling with skylights and french doors that open out to a small patio with mahogany rocking chairs which are perfect for a morning cup of coffee or evening cocktail.

The two full bathrooms have been meticulously renovated; one has a tiled shower and one has a jetted tub with cherry wood surround. The home is furnished and decorated in a elegant yet comfortable country modern style with high end genuine antiques, reproductions and fine art work. Fine linens, plush towels and robes are furnished. Wedgewood china as well as high quality glassware and flatware are also provided.

The beauty and charm of the house is surpassed only by the breathtaking propery. The house is located on two park-like acres directly on the Tohickon Creek and Geddes Run Creek. There is spectacular landscaping, mature trees which are hundreds of years old and plantings and pathways. The property has been seen on the New Hope Garden Tour and Rhododendron Society Tour. There is a gazebo overlooking Geddes Run Creek with a table and chairs for dining or relaxing and listening to the babbling of the creek. There is also a swing set for children. There is a slate patio with mahogany picnic table and benches and gas barbecue grill.

And, although the property is serene and quiet, it is only steps away from the Village of Point Pleasant with antique stores and shops. It is also a close drive to New Hope and Lambertville which are known for their numerous fine antique stores. There are many charming restaurants of all price ranges nearby. The house is also located in one of Pennsylvania's most renowned areas for outdoor recreational activities. The house is directly across the street from the Tohickon Creek, a nationally ranked kayak run. There is also a hiking trail which runs along the creek. Bucks County River Country, which rents tubes, rafts and kayaks for fun on the Delaware River, is a short walk. The "High Rocks" overlook and Ralph Stover State Park, which offer unsupassed natural beauty, are only a short drive away.

Arrangements can be made to include a private chef and/or maid
service for the height of luxury and convenience in all seasons.

All are having a fine stay. Our 1st try at country living being raised in a city. Truly a nice home in interesting location which is very close to city life activities. A very good balance of city and country.

Charming and Beautiful

Date of Stay: 10/08/10 Review Submitted: 11/07/10

We had a wonderful girls weekend here this fall! The house was beautiful and just as described. Everything is just minutes away - be it canoeing, antiquing, or visiting a winery. Sally, the owner, was responsive and informative. Accommodations were historic but very comfortable. And, the kitchen is a real treat for those that love to cook! Can't wait to come back again with my family! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us!
