Spirit of the Mountains Retreat, LLC is located conveniently between the beautiful NC mountain towns of Brevard and Hendersonville, just SW of Asheville. The Asheville Airport is 30 minutes away, and you will find easy paved roads all the way to the retreat. Once you reach the top of the mountain and step on to the front porch of your cabin, you will feel a welcome that resonates within you. Here your Spirit will revitalize!
Actitivies aboud in the area, as do hundreds of waterfalls and natural playgrounds for all ages. The excellent location between three popular NC towns makes for the best of everything available.
The retreat grounds offer opportunities for re-experiencing Spirit in Nature as you take time to breathe in the delicious mountain air. Walk the pristine forested mountaintop trail, listen and watch for wildlife that is watching you back, gaze at the scenic mountain beauty from the gazebo, relax on your cabin porch swings or rocking chair, enjoy an old fashioned game of horseshoe, or light an evening campfire in the Spirit Circle.
Perhaps lounging on the private back decks, grilling the family meal, or indulging youself in the Garden Juccuzi tub, you will find your own sense of peace and reconnection with yourself and family. My friend and I planned a last-minute getaway for a little mommy R&R. We were able to take advantage of the 40% discount since we booked our trip within 7 days of traveling. You could not ask for a better place to stay for $195/night! Coral, the owner, was quick to respond to my reservation inquiry and was extremely friendly (both on the phone and when we met at Spirit of the Bear). The cabin was clean, stocked, and so amazingly peaceful! If you spend a few minutes on the deck at night, you might be rewarded with a bear "sighting" (or at least the lights of a bear's eyes in the dark), its growl, and the distressed calls of its cubs...really! If you make a trip to Brevard, be sure to eat at Cielito Lindo. The food was fantastic (and cheap). If it's a massage that you desire, La Petite Spa offers resonable rates for quality services. And finally, Hendersonville is a great place to spend an afternoon shopping and eating. Mezzaluna makes the best BBQ chicken pizza. Thank you, Coral, for providing a place where we could renew our spirit.

There at the peak of fall - clean; spectacular views; s'mores over the campfire; relaxing atmosphere; very comfortable; fresh, crisp air - just breathe it in. White squirrel greeted us every morning outside front door of Spirit Bear cabin - amazing. Kids highly enjoyed also. Highly recommend.

Thank you for sharing Spirit Bear with us. Our stay in your charming cabin was perfect. Our time there felt more like a visit at the well-kept home of a close friend than the normal vacation rental. The impeccably clean cabin exceeded our expectations in every way - the decor, furnishings and location were fantastic, and everything we needed was there. A special Thank you for helping us finalize the details of our stay, and the wonderful tips for hiking and our waterfall seeking adventures. Our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer!

Stayed in this cabin with our daughter, for her birthday, and her two children. The cabin was very clean, peaceful and comfortable. Owner supplied all of our needs and helpful in answering our questions.. The owner met us at the cabin and showed us around and explained where everything was. We visited Sliding Rock and Hooker Falls and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed this. Would recommend this cabin for friends or relatives. The cabin was prettier than the photos and description.
