Older Unit But Clean and Good location; Terrible Service From Property Manager

We stayed in a unit in this complex with the same property manager (Coastal Casistas, LLC). This was for one week in November. When we arrived we found it clean and relatively comfortable. The sofa was pre-historic and you pretty much sank to the ground but, other than that, the furnishings were acceptable. We arrived on Sunday; It was chilly in November and so we called on Monday to tell them the heat was not working. We called twice again on Tuesday and sent them an email. We called again on Wednesday. By Thursday we gave up. Finally on Saturday they sent someone over to fix the heat. If that wasn't bad enough service, when I looked at my charge card after going back home, I noticed they charged me for one extra day. We stayed seven nights and they charged us for an extra day. They did credit us back for it, however. If you are going to Carlsbad I suggest you look elsewhere. For the same money we could have stayed at one of the local hotels. Nicer rooms, closer to the beach and they had heat!
Owner response:We are a small, hands on company built on customer service and we have a great reputation for taking care of our guests but sometimes things just don't go right...We were traveling out of the country and all of the back-up communication systems that we had painstakenly installed simply failed. The heater was promptly re-lit as soon as we finally got the messages. The extra charge was an oversight caused by a date change and was returned immediately. Our sincere appologies were offered to our inconvienenced guests and a discount offered.

We flew into San Diego, took the Coaster train to Carlsbad and walked from the train station to the condo. That was easy! The condo is adorable and affordable –quiet, neat and clean. The location is perfect - everything is within walking distance – the beach, restaurants and shops. If you want a true taste of life in southern California, come to Carlsbad and stay at the Cruse condo. The only downside is that you won’t want to return home. We planned our arrival in our small airplane but because of mechanical troubles we arrived late the first night. Debra was very understanding and accommodating and easy to work with. Upon arrival all the stress of the day was quickly swept away by the location and beauty of the condo. Easy walking to a number of restaurants, shops and other attractions. We had a wonderful trip with our one year old boy and were the envy of all of our friends, especially when they heard how ultra reasonable the price was. We look forward to visiting again and again. Thank you for making this a wonderful and memorable trip.

The place is very comfortable....we slept great every night with the windows open. The grounds are so beautiful & I took portraits of our kids & their cousins. The wine and chocolate were an especially nice touch! Thank you! We would defenitely recommend this place. In fact, our relatives stayed at a place on the beach but were more impressed by "our" place! Thanks for a great stay!

"We loved staying at the Casita de Cruse. The location is wonderful and we did not need a car to enjoy the area! We walked to the beach, to the grocery store, to the little shops in the village, and a multitude of great restaurants. Lots of beach walking!! Thanks for making us feel right at home with many thoughtful touches, comfy bed, nice couches and pretty decor. We'll escape into cool memories of our relaxing, soothing, restful, breezy vacation in Carlsbad!"
