Landmarked by a unique house sign we are the second generation of our family to welcome guests. This is a Deluxe Home (an earned rating).
You'll relax in privacy; perfect for those intimate times - honeymoon, anniversaries or just anytime you desire a touch of solitude. You'll still be close to beaches, restaurants and shopping, if you can tear yourself away from the peaceful atmosphere! Dragon's Pearl is the perfect place to get away without being far away. It's like being at home - only much better.
Our spacious, airy Private Home with A/C, celing fans and cathedral ceilings throughout has been extensively upgraded over the past 4 years. Every room is oversized and each suite has a walk-in closet with luggage racks. The Master suite is ensuite with dresser, chair, bench and TV. Each bathroom has new vanities and the Master Bath also has a granite counter. With guests in mind the elegant and slightly eclectic decor throughout has many eye-pleasing details; textures and colours predominate. Summarising the style: Colonial Tropical Luxury.
Twin luxury aero beds can be placed wherever you'd like; try the Lanai for a blissful rest in the night air stirred gently by ceiling fans!
An air of relaxation permeates each room. Time passes as you relax and restore mind and spirit. Breezes caress the hustle of life to a distant memory. An extensive library of paperbacks lives throughout the house for your reading pleasure with many informative guides to flora and fauna on the Island plus diving books. Board games and cards are in the game end-table in the living room. Every room has candles that are for your use. Hot water is "instant" throughout the house.
The Master Bedroom and Living Room open onto the Lanai where you'll watch sunrises and jumping fish and the occasional turtle in the canal. Mangrove provides privacy from the water and creates a wind barrier. Take a beach chair out to the water, sun yourself and watch the tides come and go.
There are 3 seperate dining areas, one each in the Living Room, the Kitchen and on the Lanai. The Kitchen is more than 700 sq. feet, and has numerous cabinets as well as a storage pantry. It features a wide pass-through window to the Lanai, and is fully stocked with virtually every type of utensil as well as a full sized oven (large enough to cook a 24 pound turkey with fixings). You shouldn't have to haul basic supplies, so we provide them (toilet tissue, paper towels, Ivory soap, laundry and dishwashing soaps and cleaning supplies you may require). If you need to shop for food, we have ice chests to keep your purchases fresh while you get them home. Maid Service is avilable on weekly and monthly rentals at cost, and can be arranged either in advance or upon arrival.
The adjacent Laundry room has full sized washer and dryer with shelving and folding space. The shelves hold water toys and a hammock that you could put out on the Lanai. There are clothes lines both inside and outside for that sun-dried, energy efficient fresh-air smell. Just outside the side door (off the laundry room) is an outside shower head with privacy provided by lattice work and a vigorous 'mandevilla' (a variety of honeysuckle).
Tile floors cool your feet and there are minor transitions into the Guest Bath, the Kitchen and out to the Lanai. Non-slip tile is in the Kitchen and laundry room, the Guest Bath and on the Lanai. There's a wheelchair ramp at the front entrance leading off the driveway - which is also convenient for large luggage and small children. Dragon's Pearl is handicapped and wheelchair accessible.
A pleasing mix of art work is displayed with an outdoor sculpture on the front deck courtesy of Hurricane Ivan and appropriately named "Ivanology".
Lush tropical foliage, coconut palms, hibiscus, lillies and bouganvilla compliment the landscaping. Should you be able to and nimble enough to retrieve coconuts you may do so at your own risk. There is nothing like fresh coconut water for a pick-me-up.
Doves, ching-chings, parrots and little yellow birds favour us. Butterflies abound in season. Curly tail or dragon lizards are curious and friendly.
Night skies are incredible as the area has sufficient lighting for safety but does not compromise the stars. Look for shooting stars, especially in the winter months.
In the event of inclement weather, the Lanai has external Cat-5 hurricane shutters as does the east Kitchen window. All other windows have traditional wooden louvers. And if power fails for whatever reason, your manager will assist you with the generator (and shutters) as required.
Sunshine and cooling breezes predominate Cayman Kai. Peace envelopes you here. Afternoon showers can be expected in the winter months - but that keeps the foliage green and growing and refills our double cistern! |
