We have a vacation rental in Jackson Hole for short term rental. We would prefer clients who would desire 1 or more weeks duration. We will consider shorter duration visits but we will not consider less than 3 nights. We are about 3 miles from the Teton Village ski area and Grand Teton National Park and 8 miles from the town of Jackson.. Our rental is 900 square feet with 2 queen beds, a queen futon, modest dining and kitchen facilities, a full bath with spa, and a separate shower. It boasts a secluded location and a spectacular view of 10927 ' Rendezvous Peak and the nearby Teton Village ski area.. Best of all you are near town amenities without the horrific noise and congestion of town.
We were formerly called Rendezvous Mt Farm but currently we only have domestic and gamefowl (no roosters!) and sometimes livestock which at times are vocal in the morning. There may be farm equipment and hay and animal bedding present as well as snow removal machinery. The house is entirely heated by wood and large quantities of firewood are usually present. The house and adjacent log cabin are NOT FANCY despite being located in a very expensive area.. If you want fancy accommodations please look elsewhere. There are no curtains on the windows and no carpet on the bare wood floors and no artificial scents. The water is deep well water with no chlorine and is tested and delicious. We would prefer to cater to an active athletic clientele who come here to enjoy the out of doors as do we. We do not rent to tobacco users of any type and do not permit any smoking by anyone anywhere on our land. Access to the property is by gravel roads.
It is conveniently located near the airport, the town of Jackson, and Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks. The property is on a sizable acreage and sports views and amenities normally unavailable in the hotel and condo market. It is surrounded by streams and ponds with wildlife and waterfowl, spectacular mountain views. Moose,Elk,Deer and occasionally grizzly and black bear and antelope stay or feed on the property. Moose are normally present year round and should not be approached especially with young..Raptors including Eagles, Owls, Osprey are abundant. A Red tail Hawk nest is near our home. A sizable Gray Wolf Pack has recently moved into the area, and a cougar and a small wolf pack was recently seen. We are within walking or biking distance of shopping, banking, 4 star restaurants, golf courses, trout fishing, rafting, hiking and the Teton Village Ski Area with America's highest vertical drop. Annual snowfall ranges from 450-720 inches per year but our property receives only about half of what the mountain receives.Cross country skiing is spectacular as well as challenging back country alpine, Telemark and snowboarding. The winters can be very cold unlike California, the NW or Utah.
We also provide a desktop computer with laser printer with 12 Meg broadband Wifi for your laptop as well as cable TV. The rental is located over our garage and you have your own private entrance. We only ask you to respect the wild seclusion and tranquility of our property. We would be happy to share our home and equipment with you and recommend restaurants, shopping, sports and recreation amenities which are right outside your door. I will post some pictures here of our main house and rental taken over the last 12 months showing interior and outside scenes.
If you arrive from a foreign destination, we would be delighted to pick you up at the airport, and help you arrange transportation and the peace and rest you will need after a long flight. We have modest fluency in Spanish, German, French and Italian, or at least we used to!

Why the Owner Chose Wilson
I did not buy a vacation rental. I built a house in the most beautiful valley in the world. With the children gone we now have a little room for guests.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio
They are well stated elsewhere.
Owner's Map of Wilson
I was born in Montana and raised in a dozen Air Force SAC bases. I attended Holy Cross,West Point and UNC in Chapel Hill(MD"71). I was an Army doc in the last years of the Viet Nam fiasco. My wife and I live in a log cabin I built by hand in Jackson Hole in 1975. I've done a dozen different jobs and retired from ER and Anesthesia in 2004. I've written magazine articles and am writing a Kunstleresque novel about life in a post Peak Oil world. We are living in a beautiful alpine setting where we hike and ski and we enjoy meeting folks who share our lifestyle.

Summer and Winter Retreat

Hugh and Karlene's studio apartment was the ideal spot for an extended stay. We spent 25 days in the winter and three weeks in the summer enjoying this spectacular area. We feel fortunate that we connected with Hugh and Karlene. As delightful hosts they provide a spacious but cozy efficiency apartment. One is surrounded by three walls of windows that provide spectacular views of the Teton Range with the Grand Teton in the distance. An added delight is the wildlife on the property (moose foraging out our window). We loved feeling part of an old, established Teton valley homestead where we visited with the guinea hens, chickens, peacocks and our wonderful canine friend Peso. We feel this location is ideal with its' proximity to the Teton National Park, a market five minutes away, and a short 15 minute drive to Jackson. We can't say enough about the warmth and genuine hospitality of our new friends Hugh and Karlene. We can't wait to return.
Owner response:Mike and Dianne were the type of visitors anyone would be thrilled to have....generous, physically active, honest, capable and tidy as a pin. How many house guests would help you lift a 170 lb window into place?! And then send a half gallon of Vermont maple syrup after arriving home! We hope to do a house share sometime in the future to their beautiful home in Vt.

Two of us started in this rental and expanded to four for a weekend wedding. We found it clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient. Plus the mountain views were stunning. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds and other species visit the feeders just outside one of the windows (including a red squirrel!), and we appreciated Internet and a computer to check local attractions and to print our boarding passes before heading to the airport. Host Hugh even helped us with an automotive problem with our rental vehicle, for which we were extremely grateful.

The place was phenomonally located. It is located a very short, flat and easy drive off the main road. It's just a couple of miles south of Teton Village and provides excellent platform to get into the South Entrance of the Park quickly. GREAT Hiking in this area and in the Northern part of the park which is still close. Get into shape, get on your hiking shoes, and visit this place. Hugh will take care of you with suggested hikes, and perhaps a loaner can of bear spray. An awesome stay. My wife and I are both fairly active, enjoy the outdoors, love the Tetons and were energized by the good hiking (three 15-20 mile hiking days, with a more relaxed flat recovery day with a 10 miler in-between suited us perfectly) followed by great places to dine throughout the area. The cabin is very very spacious and is comprised of a very pretty wood-covered room (ceiling is awesome) with an attached bathroom. In-cabin computer with internet connection was very very useful. No need to bring a lap top to keep up with work, flight info, or your home emails.

What a gem--we enjoyed two wonderful weeks here in the beginning of August and were so happy that we arranged to have our son spend his honeymoon here in January! The room is spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, the bathroom is huge, with a big Jacuzzi tub, and the location was absolutely ideal. We came with kids and older folks; everyone enjoyed it. Definitely will return as soon as we can get back to Wyoming.

What a wonderful place to stay. My husband and I were very grateful for all of the hospitality of Hugh and Karlene, what wonderful people. Our stay with them was the best experience. Anything that we needed, or any information that we wanted was addressed. It was nice to know the "local" places to go and not be bothered by all of the tourist. The apartment was wonderful, filling all of our needs, it was great to be able to do our laundry and cook our own meals to save money. It was nice to be away from all the traffic of Jackson, yet be close enough to enjoy it when we wanted to go to town. I slept like a baby, and listening to the water underneath my bedroom window at night must have been the reason why. I really enjoyed seeing the moose and her baby which is on their property. I would highly recommend staying at their property, you will not regret it. Thank you Hugh and Karlene, and we hope to be able to stay with you again next year, we would not stay anywhere else now that we have stayed with you, and this was our 3rd year going to the Grand Teton. No complaints or regrets about staying at this property, thanks again.
