My wife and I are delighted with the charm and romance of this spacious and secluded setting. We've spent two consecutive years celebrating our anniversay in this perfect place and intend to return every year. Wow! We highly reccomend staying here to any couple serious about staying married.

Wonderful Retreat

Our family of three spent a week at this beautiful log cabin in July. We loved San Juan Island, and our stay was so much better because of this lovely home. The pictures do not do it justice - it was immaculate and beautifully and artistically decorated. It's convenient to Friday Harbor, the beach, and all of the sights, but you feel like you are completely in the middle of nowhere - so relaxing to look outside of the picture windows and see deer and other wildlife rambling through the yard. Sylvia was amazing to work with - even buying groceries for us so we wouldn't have to add a stop at the store to our already long travel day. We were heading to Seattle and then Alaska after our stay, so Sylvia allowed us to use her laundry facilities - she was incredibly accomodating throughout our visit. Her home had all of the amenities of my own home (and was exceptionally clean). I would highly recommend this to friends and family. Our family would love to return to San Juan Island and stay here again. This was our first experience with VRBO and I was completely impressed - SO much better than a hotel.

We spent a long weekend at Sylvia's home, including the July 4th holiday. Sylvia is a terrific host, and her home is an idyllic place from which to enjoy the San Juan Islands. Sylvia helped us with local insights, logistical arrangements, and advice that would have been otherwise hard to find; overall, she made our stay a most pleasant one. The home is clean, comfortable, and peaceful, and a short drive to Friday Harbor. We look forward to our next visit.

Relaxing Getaway

We had a wonderful time at Sylvia's home over the Memorial Day weekend. The house is beautiful as described, and the setting is serene - a relaxing getaway for 2 couples, away from the hustle and bustle of Friday Harbor. We were able to look out the window at the deer meandering by and hear the noises of all the birds. We really enjoyed our time there. Thank you Sylvia for welcoming us into your home!

Hidden gem in the woods

My family and I LOVE your house. The yard is amazing and really fun to play in. We saw so many deer and whales and seals. It was so exciting. The San Juan Islands are scintillating and I am glad I could spend my time here with my family at your house. The flowers in your yard are beautiful. I hope I can come back here again. I give your house and this island 5/5 stars. The pond is outstanding. It is peaceful but fun. My family made a daisy chain necklace, music on the chimes (wind) and ran around using our imagination. Thank you so much for renting this house to my family. It really made the San Juan Island a better experience. Amy (age 11)

Peace, quiet, and relaxation

Our family visited this property for a Father's Day getaway weekend. We were floored by the size and beauty of the lawn! It's huge, the grass is neatly trimmed but very lush and inviting, and it's surrounded by forest on most sides and the pond on the other. The interior was very comfortable, especially the beds and the comfy living-room chairs. It was great to have WiFi and DirecTV, although we tried to "unplug" as much as possible. We'd certainly return to this property again.

A little bit of paradise

My husband, 2 & 1/2 year old, mother, and I spent 4 wonderful days here. The home is immaculately clean, very comfortable, and well supplied. The grounds are something out of a later Monet painting! Just lovely. And the owner is super nice and accomadating. Many, many thanks! We want to come back again in August!

No Stress Zone

My wife and I and another couple, spent Labor Day weekend at this beautiful, calming place .We came for relaxation and we found it. The description and the pictures of the surrounding grounds are understated, its better than it appears to be..The home is comfy and warm and inspiring.We hope to return again some day to Friday Harbor . Sylvia's home is the perfect "home base" to explore the whole island. A perfect "no stress zone"..We highly recommend this rental. D&L (CA) and D&M (OR)

What a fantastic find! This beautiful log cabin was the perfect week-long getaway. We enjoyed the charm of the cabin while relaxing in the secluded yard that is surrounded by flowers. Truly a secret garden set on a beautiful pond. We saw deer in the morning and enjoyed walks along the country roads. I am looking forward to my next stay!

From the moment we drove into the driveway, we found this a relaxing, well maintained, and charming lodging. Midway through our stay, my wife commented it was to stay in a home with a woman's touch. The log cabin is beautifully decorated with eclectic pieces of art. As art lovers we enjoyed the wide range of interests--from the Mexican skeleton to the eco friendly framed art. It's an experience going from room to room to discover all the decorations. Well done! The sleeping and lounging accommodations were perfect! You can read a book from the book exchange in a comfy chair on the porch. The outside of the home is well maintained. All the flowers--I shot some pictures to use as cell phone wallpaper. And above all--the serenity of the island and this location nestled in the Douglas Firs are unmatchable. This is a home I will gladly return to in the future. The owner is warm and pleasant and really cares about her guests. My granddaughter found a touch of Twilight the book as we drove down the road to the highway, expeciting Edward to emerge from the woods and greet us with an island friendly welcome and farewell.

Excellent accomodations! We were looking for a unique but welcoming and relaxing environment and we found it. The setting is wonderful, lots of wildlife and a well maintained property. The cabin is comfortable and well kept with great character. The owner is personable and a joy to work with, genuinely concerned about the quality of your stay. Just sitting on the porch, listening to the windchimes and watching the wildlife would have made it a memorable experience.

The home is so well equipped and competely ready to settle in for a relaxing vacation! We had six people in our party and had plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed reading a book in the yard in the afternoon. Our own cast of deer joined us each day from the thick forest area surrounding the property. Thank you for making this spot available for us!

A lovely log home in a beautiful, private setting--peaceful, relaxing, and meticulously kept. Owner is very friendly, obliging and a great communicator. Skip the commercial rentals. Staying here gives you a real feel for island living! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

At the last minute my husband and I were able to rent this beautiful home for Memorial Weekend '09 for our honeymoon. I was astounded at how gorgeous the house and grounds are! The pictures do not do the place justice. We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend hiking and doing a little shopping at the local shops. What a wonderful time we had on the island. This is a great place to have a honeymoon!

My husband & I stayed here with our friends and the cabin was the perfect size for 4 people. There is another bedroom w/ 2 twin beds, so 6 could stay comfortably. We loved the peaceful setting. The deer & foxes roamed around. It was amazing to watch the momma deer nursing her 2 fawns. The cabin is about 5 miles from town, away from the noise and traffic. We definately recommend this oasis to others !!!
