We just came back from a nine day stay in this fabulous home. The pictures do not begin to convey the beauty of the home and it's grounds. The house is spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We had breakfast in the kitchen overlooking vineyards and lavender beds, lunch by the pool and spa, and dinner as we watched the sun set over the hills. I can't imagine a more beautiful location. The house is an easy drive to the many shops and restaurants of Healdsburg. The owners have thought of everything in preparing this house for guests and their hospitality really tops it off. Can't wait to come back!

Glorious, luxury estate!
Glorious, luxury estate!
This house has created life-long memories for us. We could not love this house more. And the owners are absolutely fantastic. 2012 will be the fifth year that we have rented this house. There are eight of us that rent this house. Four couples with ten children between us. But we leave the children at home! And we have an absolutely incredible time. Each bedroom is like a suite from a five-star hotel with beautiful views and your own luxurious bathroom. Although we have never assigned rooms, every year each couple gravitates to the same room. After finding our rooms, it’s like being back at an old friend’s house (a very affluent and tasteful friend). We can sit in the front of the house admiring the incredible valley views (with a wonderful glass of wine in hand (of course)). Or we can sit poolside in the back and soak in the rays. The kitchen is massive and another great place to stand around and catch up with old friends. We have also watched football games on the terrific plasma screen in the family room (Go Blue) and have had fictitious concerts in the back (I can explain this over a glass of wine). If the house was not enough, the owners are incredibly hospitable. We have forgotten wines in past years and the hosts have saved the wines for us and left them at the house on our next trip. On our last trip, the owners arranged a wine tasting from their winemaker that makes wines from grapes grown on the grounds. Wow. It’s like borrowing a house from a very dear friend. It is not an exaggeration to say that the house is one of our favorite spots on earth. Every year, we spend 3-4 days catching up with old friends over excellent wine in the greatest of spots. It’s truly a special place. If my summary is at all unclear, I cannot recommend this house enough. Make your own lifelong memories in this wonderful spot!!

Incredible Getaway Weekend in Healdsburg
Incredible Getaway Weekend in Healdsburg
We’re often skeptical about 5-star ratings on rental properties. Are those comments for real? Will the property measure up? Simply put, this home far exceeded our expectations and met or exceeded all the glowing comments we read prior to booking! We invited 12 of our closest friends to leave their kids with the sitter and spend three getaway days celebrating a 40th birthday. The experience we had was incredible in every possible way. First are the owners, Nancy & Doug. They were very easy to work with before and during our stay, were full of helpful tips and advice, and are very warm and personable. They made the whole experience so easy! The property itself is magnificent. Ten vineyard-covered acres that rises just above the Alexander Valley – enough to have a lovely hillside to the rear of the house and incomparable view of thousands of acres of vineyards to the front. The property is situated in a way to provide the perfect level of privacy and solitude. It’s as if we had the whole valley to ourselves. The new back yard is an adult paradise with full bocce court, large pool, large capacity spa, modern sport court, pool house with full bath and workout equipment, patio table seating for 12+, plenty of lounge chairs and three types of BBQ grills including a Big Green Egg! The side and front yards include beautiful stone patios and lovely soft grass lawns. Did I mention the parking situation? We had seven cars and barely made a dent to the upper driveway area. But the house itself is the main event. Five spacious “master-style” suites, some with fireplaces and several with built in day beds next to the windows perfect for lounging and reading. There’s a mezzanine with grand piano and pull-out bed and even a “sleeping nook” downstairs that everyone seemed to think was the best place for napping. Of all the houses we’ve rented, this was by far the most well-stocked. Each room includes flat screen TVs with satellite service, plentiful towels and supplies and the best kitchen setup we’d ever seen. The spice rack was full, there were multiple coffee makers, two dishwashers and three sinks, two ovens and the list goes on and on. There were even three types of sprinkles for our cupcakes! We never ate out – we ate like kings because of this gourmet kitchen, including a prime rib and Yorkshire pudding dinner one night. We are very picky when it comes to rental properties and we cannot recommend this property enough! We can’t wait to come back!

A magical retreat in the wine country!
A magical retreat in the wine country!
My wife and I along with our wine buddies have rented this amazing piece of property for a long weekend 3 years in a row. It is our favorite weekend of the year mainly because of this property. Unbelievable amenities, including the chef's kitchen, furnishings, 5 star quality beds and linens, pool/spa, and utter seclusion. Not to mention the nicest owners one could ask for! Don't miss out on this one.......!!!!!

Owner response: We love having this group of "Wine Buddies" return each year! We hope that with each visit they find something new and exciting here to make their weekend even better than the previous year.
Having just returned from a week in this phenomenal house, we're still having trouble explaining to friends just how nice our experience was. We visit a different wine region in the world every year and have stayed in some fabulous homes through VRBO and this is the best yet. One of our traveling companions probably summed it up best: it's like visiting with someone in their home - not like staying in a rental. While the pictures do it justice, they can't capture the spirit of the home, the comfortable setting or the well-thought out appointments. Everything was as-advertised, perfectly ready when we arrived and much better in person! The kitchen was over-the-top and made eating out a bigger challenge than we anticipated. The owners couldn't have been any more helpful or gracious. Our best form of recommendation is that we'll definitely return; probably sooner than later.

Owner response: Doug and Nancy bought this home in May of 2009, and we have enjoyed meeting and corresponding with the very special people who have been our guests. Lee, Sue and their traveling friends are a great example of people who have found us on VRBO. We have a great desire to make people feel at home and spoil them just a little bit.
The perfect house!
The perfect house!
Not only is this house incredible, but the owners are too! They were so hospitable and flexible during the planning of our trip, and once we arrived we felt right at home! The rooms & bathrooms are spacious and private, and the communal areas bring everyone together. It's hard to explain until you've been here, but the energy is just great and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Owner response: We were very honored that this couple and their friends decided on our home for their wedding weekend. We loved having them here, and as always with our guests, we hate to see them leave.
We came to California to attend our daghter's wedding. The house where we stayed for 5 days was spectacular. We were joined by four couples, and we all had such a great time. Pictures do not do the house justice! The views from every bedroom, the kitchen, and the bathrooms were all great! We were ten people and no one felt we were tripping over each other. The house is very well stocked, and the coffee supplied by our hosts was great. The house is not just beautiful, it is comfortable!! Would I go back? POSITIVELY!!!

We had a truly marvelous weekend at your beautiful property. The house so far exceeded our expectations. When we pulled up to the driveway and saw that beautiful house at the top of the hill, the vineyards and the lavender – we couldn't have been more pleased. And the resounding cry at the end of the weekend was, “How soon can we book the house again for next year?!” The kitchen is fabulous (we ended up canceling all our dinner reservations and cooking in) and between the ping pong table, the pool table, the karaoke machine and the view -- we had our pick of entertainment/relaxation after a full day of wine tours. You've created a wonderful get-away spot.

Owner response: This review was written before we bought the house in May of 2009. We want our guests to know that we no longer have a pool table, ping pong table and karoke machine. We have replaced the above with a new swimming pool/spa, bocce ball court and sports court.
We just had a wonderful surprise party at the house and it was perfect! The house itself is incredible and just right for a small party-- very open and airy. The pictures on the website don't do the house justice. Sunsets from the front are amazing and the view is just breathtaking!! Highly recommend!!
