Our newly remodeled beach condominium is located on the most breath-taking beach on Oahu, a short 45 min drive up the Leeward Coast from the Honolulu airport. Come relax on Lahilahi Beach, with its white sands, crystal clear water and year-round sunshine.
The condominium was completely remodeled in May 2007, upgraded with new EVERYTHING.
Travertine floors, granite counter tops, tropical ceiling fans, plantation shutter blinds and rattan furniture provide the perfect Hawaiian ambiance.
As the sun sets over the sea, dine on the lanai at our unique travertine counter overlooking the sunsetting pacific ocean.

We had a wonderful time at this very tastefully decorated condo, supplied with everything you could need. It is ideal for one couple. You could watch and hear the waves crashing just off your lanai. Almost daily we saw turtles just off the beach. This area has a lot of local flavor and is worlds away from the commercialism of Waikiki.Did you find this review helpful? Stayed here in Sept 2007. Wonderful condo, just remodelled and it is just great. Very clean and everthing you need for a vacation. Fabulous lanai where we ate all our meals and watched the sunsets. The beach is perfect. It was great for swimming and snorkeling. We loved seeing the turtles swim by everyday. Fabulous place to stay and we will defiantly come back to your condo. We are a couple who are 40 and have never had enough money or time off from working to have a vacation, ever. Not as kids, nothing. So you can imagine that when we chose this cabana we did not make the decision lightly. The beach on Waikiki on the day we did fight traffic and tourists; was littered and crowded.... the water was oily and seemed to have a film of slick sheen as far as I could see. We never went back, why spend the effort to be on Waikiki when the real paradise is in Makaha? THE BEACH IS GORGEOUS AND PRISTINE/CLEAN We saw turtles and a SEAL! For starters the beach is literally at your doorstep, any closer and you would be in the water There is a tradewind that blows all night long to keep the place cool. I was impressed with how breezy it always was and we often had to close some windows just to keep the wind at bay! It was GREAT!! The ocean is right next to your bed so it can be a little loud if you are used to silence when you sleep you may not enjoy it. We enjoyed it immensely! This is a place to come if you really want to be right up on the beach. The interior of the place was remarkable. Everything was clean and tidy. There were boogie boards for us to use (FUN!) It was easy to feel like we were at home there. Personally I would have enjoyed a full bath not just a shower, my only other complaint was the bed frame stuck out too far and so both my partner and I had bruises on our legs from running into it in the night... so watch out for that one thing... the bedroom is a tight squeeze, but the entire condo feels very roomy and spacious overall. When you think of the perfect getaway, this really fits the picture you form in your mind. You can make it your own for a week without any issues or concerns. Shelley and her team welcomed us w snacks! For groceries go to Sack n Save. Prepared food can be easily found in the deli or at Coquitos Restaurant which is a very good place to eat for a reasonable price indeed. We were there several times it is located about 12 blocks from the cabana. There is fast internet service there, a laundry facility on site, security patrol every hour, the auto gates are always locked and are only open on days when staff are pruning the palm trees or watering the plumeria... entry is permitted only by using the key-fob. Safely was never a concern. Our best decision was to drive to the stadium for the swap meet Wed & Sat DO NOT MISS THE SWAP MEET lots of handmade artsy items & ukeleles!Did you find this review helpful? I have rented Shelley's other 4rth floor condo as well as a few others in this building. So needless to say I have experiance in renting condos in Makaha. That said, I find both her Makaha Beach Cabana units the perfect blend of cozy and refined. Shelley has these units well stocked with all you need to enjoy the real Oahu. If your not aquanted with the Makaha area, it has an undeserved bad rap by the people wanting to take as much of your hard earned money from the big resorts. Here is the secret...."THIS IS THE BEST BEACH ON THE WHOLE ISLAND". As long as your not expecting a posh resort waiting on you all day, but want to relax and play in the real Hawaii. I wanted a stay away from the hub bub (and piped music) of Waikiki, somewhere I could relax and enjoy the sound of the surf - this condo provided it with spades! I loved the condo, it had everything needed to make it a home away from home, also spacious and clean. Being able to open the lanai doors and enjoy the sunset was a treat. The beach is not crowded at all, so there is plenty of space to relax (altho the current is strong so I always swam with either a tube or boogie board). Great to watch turtles go by only metres from shore. I was travelling on my own, so appreciated that the condo was in a complex with secure parking and onsite guards. I felt safe and secure in my own little piece of paradise. I'd recommend that you have a car so you can get to supermarkets, Ko Olina etc. Thanks Shelley for meeting me on arrival, the wonderful welcome pack and sharing your wonderful condo - I will definitely look to come back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My mom & I traveled to Makaha for a peaceful vacation to fulfill my mom's "bucket list". She wanted to visit the islands one more time. We are frequent visitors but had never stayed on the leeward side. What a pleasure Makaha Beach Cabanas (MBC) turned out to be. It was very peaceful indeed & the sunsets were fabulous EVERY DAY! Shelley (the owner) is wonderful to deal with, very personable & accommodating. The condo itself was immaculate and was full of everything one could need. From boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, snorkles, etc. Inside the condo, towels, utensils, dishes, soap, books to read & games to play. The wifi signal was very strong in the unit, not so much on the lanai. There is no A/C yet the fans were more than sufficient. Both the bed & living room couch were extremely comfortable and the pillows were to die for. I even bought the same pillows when I got home! Parking is secure, behind a locked gate. A key fob is used to access the entrance gate, 1st floor elevator and the gate to the building from the beach. There is ground security that patrols the beach at night which is wonderful even though we did not have any problems with the property or the nearby areas. We mostly ate at the condo. We brought Costco cash and stopped at Costco on our way in and picked up meats for BBQ, wine, cheese, fruit, etc. Cheapest gas on the island (we paid $3.84). One note-there is NO oven in the condo, only a toaster oven, microwave & stove. There are 2 large BBQs in the common area. The resident owners are amazing and were very nice. We even joined a BBQ/party in the area with a number of residents. Moving on...there is a local grocery store "Tamura" that had most everything else we needed about 10-15 minutes from MBC. Starbucks is there, too. Near the costco you will find Target, Outback Steakhouse & others big stores. It's about 20 minutes or so from MBC. We ate at Aulani (Disney) at the Character breakfast with Mickey & Minnie Mouse. We also ate at the Marriott Vacation Club. Both of these properties are located Ko Olina about 20 minutes away. A definite must see. Elevators made it very easy for my mom to move around the property. It was a bit difficult for her on the waters edge (she's 76) at the beach though. The ocean has a strong current right as you get in, then its fine. Something to keep in mind if traveling with young children. The sand was super fine. Amazing! I just cannot wait to go back. I miss the sound of the waves!Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This is our second stay at the Makaha Cabanas, first time in this condominium. We consider this beach and condominiums our little secret. The owner was easy to deal with, no problems, no pests! The view is incredible, comfy bed, and sofa bed for our daughter. The condo is is luxuriously finished with travertine floors and granite counters, nice furnishings, and all the necessities. We discovered a wonderful local restaurant during our stay, "Coquitos", within five minutes of the condo complex, homemade Latin cuisine, and amazingly friendly staff. At the time of our visit, Coquitos did not serve alcoholic beverages, however, they would allow you to BYOB and would provide the bottle opener and drinking glasses. We enjoyed moonlit beaches, amazing sunrises and sunsets. We are a very busy working couple with children, and this is our escape. The front side of the condo looks out at the morning sun and beautiful Makaha Valley. We never experienced any problems with the locals. We shopped for breakfast, lunch and some dinners, and of course beverages. Dinners seemed a little hard to plan with quality of meats, price, etc., so we recommend eating dinner out, take out, or otherwise, there are a lot of little take out stands, and some typical fast food chains. We swam with sea turtles, viewed a pod of dolphins. We love this little piece of paradise, and highly recommend the beach and this condo. If you are a first time traveler and feel the need to see Waikiki, take a couple of nights to explore Waikiki and the "touristy" stuff, then head to the Makaha Cabanas for a relaxing vacation. If you really want night life, and a fast pace, we don't recommend this location, stay in Waikiki. My husband and I loved staying in the condo for a great week. It is REALLY on the beach! The sunsets were spectacular, and the weather perfect. The ceiling fans were just fine and no need for air conditioning at all. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate several meals at home. We stocked up at Safeway on the way from the airport, but did buy some fabulous Mahi Mahi at the local Tamura market. This is a small working class town. Don't come here expecting cute boutiques or fancy restaurants, but do come to enjoy a quiet getaway. We did find a couple of fun local "hangouts", Tacos and More (but stick to the tacos, which were very good, and avoid the "more") and the Sunset Cafe (actually on a military facility, but just show id and walk in-park your car outside the gate on Army St) Lovely open air bar and restaurant right on the beach (sadly, not great food). We were amazed at how uncrowded the beach was-it was almost "private". Even on the busiest day, Saturday, there was tons of open space-a world from the crowds at Waikiki. In fact, the driver of the rental car van said Makaha is where he goes to the beach on his day off-very local atmosphere. But, watch the waves if you bring children-very strong. One shopping highlight-Treasure thrift store a few blocks down the street towards town. Wednesday is 50% off day on tons of clothes. I was wishing I hadn't brought so much. I could have easily equipped myself for a week super cheaply from the store. Bonus, Shelley supplied a wonderful "welcome basket" for us-yum!Did you find this review helpful? This is the place to stay on O'ahu for a true Hawaiian vacation. Everything was just as pictured. Modern and tastefully decorated. The views here are amazing. The valley to the front and the beach to the back. Saw turtles everyday and was lucky enough to spot a few spouting whales in the horizon. Everything is provided for you here, just bring your own groceries. The people of this area are so warm and welcoming. We experienced true aloha spirit in Makaha.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
