Welcome to Valhalla House, which means Norwegian heaven.

Located only 5 miles from Downtown Breckenridge, Valhalla is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of town. Situated on a heavily wooded 1.5-acre lot at the end of a cul-de-sac, the cabin is just a tenth of a mile off of Highway 9. The property is bordered on one side by the Blue River, which runs through the lot, and the Blue River Trail and the White River National Forest on the other side.

The trailhead for the Blue River Trail, which starts at the end of the driveway, offers miles and miles of hiking/snowshoeing/biking trails that go back to town and up Red Mountain, which starts its climbs right behind the cabin. On the mountain the views are truly spectacular with the rolling hills of Blue River in the foreground and Quandary peak (one of the legendary 14ers) and 10-mile range beyond.

On one side of the lot there is a wood swing hung between two pine trees overlooking a cliff and the Blue River down below. On the other end of the property is a custom built swing set with monkey bars.

The cabin is rustic and offers a very warm and comfortable setting to relax and unwind from the abundant amount of activities that the area offers year round. A large wrap-around deck greets you as you pull up the driveway. The private 7 person, twin 5hp motor, hot tub awaits you on the deck just steps from the front door. Looking up between the old growth pine trees from the hot tub, the stars seem so close you feel as if you could reach up and grab them.

Once inside, the cabin feeling surrounds you beginning with a knotty pine dining table set with died leather and wood branch chairs. There is also a counter with stools in the kitchen for dining. A large kitchen is just off the dining area with plenty of room for creating great meals and memories.

Beyond the dining area the ceiling rises to a peak with floor to ceiling windows. There sits a comfortable pullout couch and log glider chair. This area leads into a sunken living room with a custom built-in seating area (with comfortable cushion seating) that faces a stone wood-burning fireplace with a hand crafted wooden mantle. A flat panel TV is mounted on the wall with a swivel bracket for a wide variety of viewing angles. The back door next to the fireplace opens out to the rest of the property and the wood shed that is just steps outside to keep the fireplace going on cold nights and lazy days. There are a variety of board games and books in the cabin for guest use. The stereo offers an am/fm radio, CD and cassette player.

The downstairs bedroom offers a king sized bed and direct access into the downstairs bathroom. The room has hand painted furnishings and the walls have a unique mottled/brick look. Venturing up the open staircase you will pass our Hand Carved Bear standing guard and arrive on a landing that leads to a 2nd full bath and two additional bedrooms. One offers a queen-size bed while the other offers two single beds. All bedrooms have large windows looking out onto the property.

The town of Breckenridge is an old mining town so it has a beauty and classic ruggedness that sets it apart from other “Ski Towns.” The area has a huge amount of activities. In the winter there are 5 major ski mountains within 45 minutes (Vail, Breckenridge, Copper, A-Basin, Keystone, and Loveland). In addition to Alpine skiing for which the area is famous, cross country skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, ballooning, fishing, rafting, hiking, sailing, motor boating, bicycling, dirt biking, kayaking, bird watching, swimming, restaurants, bars, live music, cultural attractions and a variety of mountain activities abound in every direction from the cabin. The Breckenridge Recreation center offers indoor and outdoor swimming, indoor rock climbing, a full workout facility and a variety of other activities. There is so much to do or everything you need to do nothing. Valhalla house offers the perfect base for all your rocky mountain adventures.

We hope you join us at Valhalla and enjoy it as much as we do...
