The location and view was spectacular! The house was clean and very large, and accomodated us all very well. The day we arrived was extremely hot and inside was hotter. It would have been more comfortable if there were screens (attached)on doors and windows to help let the breeze come in without the wasps, but luckily there were only a couple of days that were so hot. We loved our time and would recommend staying at Whiffen Spit in this cottage. We felt bad leaving with so much food left over, as we couldn't take home-a suggestion would be to have a box for canned and packaged food to send to a food shelter? There were many things to do and see in the area. Whale watching was definitely our favourite!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I recently stayed here with my wife, toddler and parents and it was perfect. A very spacious house with large comfortable furniture, a hot tub, toys for little ones and games for the adults. It's location in Sooke could not be better as it is right at the end of Whiffin Spit with panoramic views right out across to the Olympic Mountains.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.

Our family enjoyed our stay from the moment we entered the cottage and saw the breathtaking views. It was ideal for relaxing whether in the spacious living room, the hot tub or down in the gazebo. We enjoyed watching the moon rise as we relaxed in the hot tub. Walking was close by on the spit anytime or along the coast at low tide. We saw wildlife including harbour seals, otters, eagles and deer. We also enjoyed adventures and took advantage of kayaking, zip lining and taking a fishing charter. I recommend you check out the Sooke Harbour House next door - they have a wonderful gallery. The cottage was great for entertaining as there was large common areas and ample sleeping space. It was all we had imagined and more.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a family vacation..ten of us including 3 young children, and we all loved the house and the surrounding yards..lots of places for quiet, but the main rooms of the house lent themselves to wonderful family meals and "hanging out"...lots of safe play areas for the little ones...it was perfectly clean, and we moved right in....it was better than I anticipated, and we enjoyed our whole time there...we had a problem with the phone, but it was taken care of immediately..I would suggest more blankets, though, as the nights were quite chilly..we went salmon fishing, lots of hikes, touring Sooke, on to Victoria...everything was in easy reach of the house...a great location and home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Why the Owner Chose Sooke:
We love visiting Sooke because the scenery and the sound of the ocean at the house is immediately relaxing. There are outstanding views of the ocean and mountains. The house is finished to a very high quality with a lovely kitchen, hardwood floors, hot tub, gravel garden, gazebo, beach. Even the basement den has some ocean views.
We like the beach walks from the door and also enjoy dining across the road at Sooke Harbour House and walking home after dinner. The hot tub is great for relaxation and letting all cares just drift away.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The oceanfront environment is second to none. When you walk through the door there is an amazing view all around the room of the Sooke Harbour , Whiffen Spit and the Strait right across to the Olymipic mountains.
Outside there is the beach which is very safe for small children and also an excellent place where we love to launch our kayaks. It is wonderful to have a day of activity followed by relaxing in the hot tub then
an enjoyable dinner either BBQ'd at home or out in one of the several interesting nearby restaurants which Sooke has to offer. We have also enjoyed the deep sea fishing nearly and on one August trip caught several salmon including one 25 pound salmon thanks to an excellent guide.
