good getaway

The house was perfect for us. It is tucked away on its own private road. There we found peace and quiet, flowers and hummingbirds plus a breathtaking view from the back porch. It rained for most of our stay there but we were just happy to be away from it all. We had one sunny day to do a little hiking and to just enjoy the amazing outdoors in Banner Elk and surrounding area. The owners and the town people overall were so genuinely friendly and hospitable it was wonderful. Also I don't think its mentioned that there is a garden tub! That is a definite perk for me seeing as I only have a shower at home. It was nice to have a bubble bath! I had a good time and hope to return again some time.

Amazing View, Wonderful Experience

My wife and I stayed at the Mountain Vista property in late October and were able to experience the first snowfall of the season, which the property's owner warned me about a few days prior to our stay which was very kind of him. The house is very cozy and the massage chair and glider added to the relaxation. The view during the day is spectacular, but at night, it is even more amazing. The star-filled sky is breath-taking and the lights of the distant towns throughout the landscape add to the experience. While you get the benefits of being off the beaten path, you don't have the down side of feeling disconnected because there is a beefy satellite tv package and wireless internet, which was nice. Last, but not least, the hot tub was a wonderful way to end a busy day and relax while soaking up the spectacular view. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay, and John was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend this property to any couple or family looking for a great weekend in the mountains.

Great place in the mountains

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights in October of 2011. We came for fall colors and were not disappointed. There is a great view out the back windows and deck of the house of the valley below and the hill/mountains beyond. The sun rises above the ridge line and lights up the valley. The house and grounds were well taken care of. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There were plenty of sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, etc. There were only two of us, but there was plenty of room for more people. Even though there are a few other houses on the road to the house, you can't see any of them from the property. It was very quiet and peaceful. Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock were an easy drive from the house. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. We just wish it could have been longer. But we'll look forward to a longer stay next time!

Just what we needed

The mountian home was just what we needed. The home has everything we wanted ( hot tub and a gorgeous view ) and then some ...including a massage chair and garden tub ! The view was incredible and one morning I viewed the sunrise 3 times ! Honestly ! The home is quietly tucked away for peace and quiet with a beautiful back road drive but conveniant to surrounding activities. My homebody husband even said as we were leaving " I could stay for a few more days " and that says alot !

My husband , myself and my daughter stayed here from 7/2-7-10. The accomodations were the best I have ever had while on vacation. The owners spare absolutely NOTHING for the commfort of thier guest's. The Views in the morning from the deck are fabulous, the hot a nice treat in the evenings. My daughter enjoyed the movies and the wildlife(bunnies and deer), and my dog enjoyed the freedom to roam and explore. We will be back as we are planning to relocate to the Lenoir/Hickory area and will need some "get away" time. All the amenities of being at home were a nice touch. We will recommend this place to all our friends and family looking for a private secluded area for some R&R. P.S. Pictures and descriptions don't tell all for this property, it was even better than we thought !!!!

We had a wonderful stay! It was so relaxing and peaceful - just what we needed. The house was nice & comfy & the view was awesome. We took some nice walks around the property, as well as going to The Blowing Rock & Mystery Hill, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks so much for renting us your lovely home!
