Great time on Kauai!
Great time on Kauai!
We were having trouble finding a location on the north shore that could accommodate our family with 3 boys (ages 5, 3, and 5 months), in addition to our family friend who's tagging along to help with the kids. We absolutely required 3 bedrooms... when I originally found the ad for this rental on craigslist, it seemed too good to be true -- honestly, that's what I was thinking for a long time. We booked it and couldn't be more satisfied about our experience. It's the little things that _really_ made a difference for us.... for example, the master and 2nd bedroom are upstairs, which perfectly fit our family, and the guest bedroom downstairs was perfect for our family friend. Not only that, the 2nd bedroom had two twin beds WITH Ikea plastic mattress covers just like we have at our home!! The 3 separate bathrooms was a big plus. All the equipment for beach, snorkeling, etc. was a great perk. The location was not RIGHT on the beach, so we ended up driving to the beach when we wanted to go. The only significant missing thing from the property was small forks/spoons and small bowls. Also, the internet was _really_ slow (but we weren't there for the internet!). That being said, all in all, we HIGHLY recommend this property!! If we ever go back to Kauai's north shore, we will definitely check in to see if this place has availability. Thanks again!! :)

Owner response: I am so grateful for Noah and his wonderful family. Our guests always love our home, but someone giving me feedback to make it even better for our guests and ourselves, is amazing. Now, I know to shop for smaller size spoons, forks and bowls. As per the Anini beach, it is at a five minute walk, so it is usually not bad getting there, but some of our guests prefer driving and also visit other beaches closeby. I am also placing a call tomorrow about the Internet. We never had any problem with it ourselves, but it seems that if it was slow for Noah and his family, something might have changed which should be relatively easy to fix. I wish to thank this meticulously clean and orderly family for such a kind review. Please come back anytime, you guys, and stay safe on your travels. With much aloha to you and the children!

Location-Location and then some!! Clean-Comfortable and Welcoming
We loved our stay in Kauai. Having lived as kids in Hawaii and familiar with the South Side of the island, this was a wonderful place to explore the Na' Pali coast, gorgeous Hannelei Bay, Kayak up the Hannalei River, and walk (directly out the lanai door) the impeccable golf course. Not to mention very convenient to a local grocery store. I'm not a golfer, but two in our party were and they loved the treatment and the quality (though chose the less expensive course - since it is pricey!) I decided to enjoy the beautiful golf course by morning yoga. fabulous! And after the rains- rainbows. Helen, was always friendly, accommodating, inviting and facilitated, if possible, what was requested. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable, with ample storage space, lovely ceiling fans, and YES- VERY comfortable beds! We never made it to the pool- which was a shame since it was so close. However, this condo is so convenient to so much, that exploring was just too fun and easy. Great for FOUR adults, who are tall (three over 6 ft and me - not over 6 ft). Could be tight for 6 adults, but group with 1-2 kids...definitely! The condo provide Chairs, beach towels, beach mats, snorkel gear which were used often. thanks again for the great experience in the NORTH. I would definitely recommend, and hope to come back. tara

My husband and I stayed in this home for 3 nights with our son, his wife and our two grandsons. We couldn't have been more delighted. We cooked in a few times; the kitchen is well equipped and the barbecue worked out perfectly. There was plenty of space for all of us and we enjoyed the sunset views from the back patio. The owner has thought of everything to make the stay comfortable. The property was clean and the complex manager and housekeeper were very helpful and personable.

Owner response: Aloha Nancy! thank you for taking the trouble to write this. --I am very happy that you did. We have very few guests who take a couple of minutes out of their busy day to post a comment. People will tell me on the phone or text, how much they loved our home, but their busy lives kick in, and we don't hear from them until a lot of them return the next year or so. --Thank you, again! You guys are perfect guests, I'm glad you enjoyed! Please keep in touch!! Mahalo! Helen

Lovely, spacious & clean - Perfect for a stay in paradise
Lovely, spacious & clean - Perfect for a stay in paradise
We spent 14 nights at Helen’s condo in January 2013. We all had a lovely time. After much looking around online, this place offered so much space and comfort for the price – which cannot be beat! On the main level of this two story townhome, there is one full bath, kitchen, dining room, living room, and a king-sized bedroom. Upstairs, there is another bedroom with two twins and a master with a king. The master offers an on suite bathroom with a very large shower. There is also another full bathroom upstairs as well. Each bedroom has a slider that opens up to catch the perfectly temperate breezes. I will also mention that the mattresses were extremely comfortable (and trust me, we are picky!) We found the kitchen and linens to be well stocked – including beach towels! We enjoyed breakfast on the patio (on the main level) every morning with views of the ocean (and the occasional golfer). There are also plenty of beach chairs, toys and snorkel gear in the closets. Also a very nice full-size (and new I might add) washer & dryer (which us moms know is a huge plus when you have kids!). The two couches in the living room also open up as sleepers if needed. The location is fabulous too! The community pool (for the association) is literally just outside the front door – which is so nice to be close to the condo with three kids! The condo is also in short proximity to shopping and dining. It’s actually a short walk, which is nice when the weather is so perfect in Kauai. Also nearby is a park, that includes a nice play structure for younger kids (our kiddos, ages 9, 6 & 3, loved it). The complex itself was very quiet – never once head the next door neighbors during our two week stay. I would highly recommend staying at Helen’s condo, especially if you’re looking for space for the family to spread-out. I really feel that Princeville is the most gorgeous place to stay on the island. Helen, thank you so much for the lovely stay. We did our absolute best to leave the condo in the wonderful condition that we found it in. :)

Owner response: Melissa and Brian are the best guests anyone can dream of welcoming in their home. Perfectly behaved kids, loving and caring family, respectful of a place which they simply decided to call home during their vacation. And when it was time for Melissa and Brian to leave, they left the place in the most perfect condition, allowing the out cleaning team to breathe through an easy maintenance day at our home. You guys are amazing people. You live your lives with strong ethics and values. I wish to honor you today, Melissa and Brian. Needless to say that if you ever wish to come back to us, I will be extremely happy to welcome you. I am elated at the fact that you took time within your extremely busy schedule, which includes caring for three beautiful children, to write a review. Thank you, and take care my friends!
We spend 5 days in this condo and it is absolutely beautiful. The complex itself is a little dated but Helen has done an outstanding job updating this condo. It was well stocked with up to date kitchen items, brnD new washers and dryer. The 3 bedroom and bathrooms are all nice and looks great. It is right on the golf course with a beautiful view. We even found 3 sets of nice snorkel gear. The white towels and fruit basket was a nice touch. We will be back here next time we head to Kauai.

Owner response: I have to tell everybody about Helle and her party! These guys are a vacation rental owner's dream! First I got this amazing email while they were there, which made my day--the kind I like: short, to the point, very well written and so empowering! And you know how the better you feel the more good things come to you? When you get feedback like that email, which Helle sent, taking precious time from her vacation, it really tells you that you are doing something right. We are all connected, you know. I want you to get the vacation which I want to have. Helle is the guest I want to be when I stay somewhere. They left the place in mint condition, by the way! Now I open my email and see the sweetest review.. The universe loves me! The universe certainly loves Helle and Sigrid! Please come back any time, my friends! The other good news is that returning guests always get one free night if they stay for a minimum of 7 days. I know we don't have to do that because we are always fully booked, but life is about making other people smile. Helle certainly put the biggest grin on my face, today. Thank you, Helle and Sigrid! Much Aloha!
Best Condo in the Puamana Complex
Best Condo in the Puamana Complex
This 3-bedroom, 3-bath condo is the most luxurious in the entire Puamana complex, giving my family plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a well-maintained property. The location next to an oceanfront golf course is ideal for cool ocean breezes, and we loved sitting on the lanai to enjoy outdoor dining on the brand new patio furniture. It was great to have a fully-equipped kitchen and the new washer and dryer were so wonderful I wish I had the same set at my home! The Princeville Center is within walking distance when you're looking for groceries, Lappert's Ice Cream and gifts. If you have young children, there's a great playground next to the Princeville Community Center. There's also a nice trail to Anini Beach nearby for those days when you feel like relaxing on the sand without getting into your car and driving.

Great location and spacious accomodations!
Great location and spacious accomodations!
It is always nice to have spacious accommodations when vacationing and this condominium definitely gave us more room than we needed. Having a full operational kitchen also is a plus as well. Although during the days in Kauai, we were no where near the condominium, it was nice relaxing after the long days of island exploring on the lanai, in the living room, or by the pool. The location is prime for all of the north shore and east shore activities. The grocery store is less than a mile away and has everything you would need for cooking. We did plan ahead by bringing our own spices and coffee that we are accustomed to cooking with. We managed to cook breakfast every morning and cooked/grilled dinner every evening. It just eliminates the decisions to choose restaurants and the hassle of getting there and waiting. It’s nice to be able to have your wine and cocktails and not worry about driving back to your place. On the downside. There is an air conditioner only in the upstairs master bedroom. Living in South Louisiana, we are accustomed to have air conditioning throughout our home, I guess you can say we are spoiled to it. Yes you can open the windows and allow the sea breeze to cool the place but it isn’t the same. Also, the place is no where comparable to the St. Regis. It is a nice place by all means, but the St. Regis is not a good comparison to go by. Helen was very pleasant to work with. There were a couple of issues when we first got there but we were able to get in touch with her with no problem and she was able to help us get settled in for our stay. Thank you so much Helen! The next time we visit Kauai, we would love to stay at your place again. Mahalo nui loa!

Owner response: It is always so nice and so rare when somebody posts a review. I have to mention that we are ALWAYS fully booked, peeps come back but rarely take the time to review. As per the small issues which James and his party had: You can access the WiFi, which is free, by following very easy instructions. James did everything right towards his stay, but forgot his booking confirmation which contains the instructions, for that. Although I did not mind getting on the phone with James and walk him through the steps. Now clearly, I must insist that the quality of most of our furniture is comparable the the St. Regis quality, and I shamelessly stole Starwood's heavenly bed concept. Yet the St. Regis is indeed more luxurious than our 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom 1,700 square feet town home. Our bathrooms are by the way, as luxurious as such of those high-end resorts, tiled throughout, two sitter-shower, full bath tubs, shower massage etc. I would like to mention that the price is over six times more expensive at the St. Regis, for one basic double room! If you can spend 10 times our current discounted rate, you might get a Prince Junior suite. Now I'm not even sure that that would buy you an ocean view! I am very excited about our amazing furniture which we always upgrade. I don't even think I get carried away that much when I say our home is five stars. I'm glad that our dear James gave us 4 stars, though, because one double room at the Westin would set you back more than twice as much money as with our condo --and like James was saying, you can walk there in two minutes, by the way. Now our home sleeps 8, and everything else James kindly described is accurate. You can do your own grilling on the patio, you don't have to share a grill with other guests etc. When I write, "live in luxury in our Princeville home", it is assuming that people understand that if you stay at a beautiful home with 5 to 7 friends and everybody is willing to pay 15 times less per person daily than the price of a room for one at the Westin, you may get something that is luxuriously decorated, where you can cook your own meals in a gourmet kitchen, have your own bathroom, and plenty of space for everybody, but it's a home not a hotel where you have to drop St. Regis money. The air conditioning: People, and that includes us, almost never use it. The shutters throughout and the huge ceiling fans keep you totally comfortable. We'll upgrade to full air in 2013, but you still won't use it, I know. :)
Quiet, but not 5 star
Quiet, but not 5 star
We stayed in this condo for a week. We picked it because the listing said it was comparable to the St. Regis in luxury. While the condo was clean and neat, it was not on par with the St. Regis by any means. We also chose this location because it had air conditioning. It actually only has air conditioning upstairs in the Master bedroom, and there is a note on the wall saying to only run it if it is extremely hot, or you will be charged more. While Helen was very accomidating with the things that needed to be fixed upon our arrival, I felt that we were misled in the type of accomidations that were provided. If you are looking for neat and clean and simple, this is a great place. If you are looking for 5 star luxury like we were, I would head to the St. Regis.

Owner response: No punctuation because the vrbo system has a bug and wont publish otherwise. Kristin arrived at our home and found her welcome fruit basket. The place was in perfect order and in mint condition. A couple of weeks before her stay a family stayed with us and their very young child pierced a hole the size of a dime in the arm of one of the sofas The second sofa which the child chose to modify as well, had more of a laceration going across the arm. I already had new sleeper sofas in order. Here is the new couches info which got delivered from wonderful Otsukas 1 Sofa D Model 2104. vrbo does not authorize cost amounts too bad. Very expensive and ultra classy couches. 2 Is a Jaclyn Smith leather sleeper couch. We have air conditioning upstairs which when it's on blasts the whole place. However, nobody ever uses it. We have huge fans and shutters throughout all 1700 square feet, hence the fans are not always used either. There is a micro climate in Princeville and an amazing breeze. All of Kauai is good, though. We never charge extra for air conditioning. We have a small dollar total additional utilities fee a day for more than 4 people, as well as for more than 6 people. Kristin said that if you are looking for five stars like she was you should head to the St Regis. Well, in the case of Kristin she paid an extremely discounted amount instead of the regular rate daily. Her party was of 6 people. She didn t get charged extra for the utilities as I waved it for her. The St Regis charges fees which vrbo doesn't allow for me to print, here: Five times as much as our full rate. The quality of their furniture is not any better than ours. Our beds are more heavenly than at the Westin. Our home is quite luxurious. Recently, I also changed all the bathroom cabinets and got new bar stools for our fully equipped kitchen bar for good measure I love remodeling and improving our home. We have a full dinner table and comfortable chairs, also. I am sure that Kristin did not mean any harm with her posting and I know for a fact that she very much enjoyed her vacation. I send her and her family lots of aloha. Please contact me if you wish for me to email you pictures for all the new improvements. Aloha and Mahalo Helen

Helen, many mahalos for making our first vacation in Kauai so relaxing! We loved staying in your condo. It instantly felt like home, and I really appreciated so many of your touches - twin beds for the kids, extra beach goodies like chairs and towels, and free parking and wifi to name just a few. Your condo complex is so quiet, yet everyone we met was friendly and laid-back. Exactly what we were hoping for! Thank you again!!

Owner response: Dear Jenny and family, I am so honored that you took the time to write a review. I really appreciate the detailed and kind comments. I am always delighted when I have guests such as yourselves: You left the place in such amazing shape, that our cleaning team told me how easy their job was this time around! Thank you for spending your vacation at our home. Renting the place is easy. Making it as comfortable and welcoming as we can so we have raving fans vs. just guests, is our mission. I know how little time we all get yearly to rest and spend time with family members. That you would have chosen us for that, is amazing to us and it made me very happy. Please keep in touch! About the owner: Saving our money towards our vacation, we used to stay at the Princeville. We love 5 star hotels and wanted a condo in Princeville which would be that wonderful!! We have enjoyed our 3 bedroom 3 baths condo and are renting it out to not only pay for the huge mortgage, but to share the love! We are grateful to God and the Universe. The Universe is expanding, our rate is still the lowest! Luxury equals budget. Get what you are used to for the price you want to pay. ALOHA AND MAHALO! Helen
Why the Owner Chose Puamana:
*****KAUAI is all good! You can't go wrong anywhere on the island, however, Princeville to me, is the most magical area in the entire State of Hawaii. I find Poipu, Lihue, Poipu etc... too hot. Princeville has such an amazing breeze that you don't need to turn the AC on! WE HAVE THAT, which you won't use :)+ NEW FURNITURE + NEW FLAT SCREEN TV (42') + EVERYTHING REMODELED. MOST GUESTS RETURN AND YOU WILL TOO! Enjoy!! MAHALO NUI LOA!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
A lot of the condos which we had visited are close to the road and very noisy. Our wonderful, private condo has the feel of a house and is extremely quiet and peaceful. We love our ocean view, our lanais (patios) and very much enjoy the newly renovated look of our three bedroom three baths property ***** UPDATE: Not only do we have New flat screen TVs 42'but we also have HDTV and brand new furniture :) (I kinda like to repeat myself as per my husband, but I just love our home and you will too...)
