Our home is in a great location - one block from the beach and one block to Mason Ave with its restaurants and shopping, on a large corner lot with a garage. We've just completed a major $120,000 renovation, with a brand new kitchen and appliances, new flooring, addition of second full bath, renovated 2nd floor full bath, and upstairs washer/dryer.

The 3-bedroom home has a king size bed, a queen size bed, and in the third bedroom, a double and single bed. There's a twin pull-out sofa in the living area.

A separate garage has enough room for one car, as well as a pool table and beach chairs for your use.

A town of charming renovated homes, Cape Charles keeps its feel of a village from the early 1900s. There are many wildlife areas within a half hour drive. A large fishing pier is two blocks from the house. Norfolk and Virginia Beach are less than an hour away.

Sorry, no pets allowed.

We'd love to make a return trip here!

My family and I stayed at this little house for 1 week starting 7/24/10. We absolutely loved it. It was comfortable, clean and relaxing. The beach was beautiful and so close. This was our first experience with a rental property and we were unsure how everything would go but were completely satisfied and pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the house was. We would definitely make the 10 hour car trip back to Cape Charles if it meant staying in this house again. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This charming Victorian home grows on you the longer you stay. It is close the the beach and an easy walk. Especially if you have small children. Good place to relax and forget about the world around you. Will return in the future. Our dog loved it too!!

outstanding location but house needs attention

Can't beat the location! One block to beach and town. Loved layout of house. Rooms are on 2nd floor and dining room is on 1st floor away from rooms. Could sleep in while kids played downstairs. Very relaxing! But house is in need of "spring cleaning" and maintenance. New appliances in kitchen, but that is all that is new. Coffee pot was disgusting and covered in layer of rust (went out and bought new one). Found mouse droppings in cabinet and got inundated with ants. Had to set traps and spray, spray, spray. Had to throw out tons of food from being covered in ants. Washed down cabinets while cleaning and they were very dirty. Hot water reeks of sulfur so when you wash dishes, run the dishwasher, take a shower or do laundry, you get rotten egg smell. Found out there are ways to treat, so not sure why they would rent out with that horrible smell. Ice machine was broken (had to buy ice). Grill was FILTHY! Grate needs to be replaced (could only grill if covered in tin foil) and propane tank was empty (had to buy new one). Jacuzzi broken. Shower door broken. Toilet paper holder broken. Towel bar broken. Window ACs all had "check filter" lights on. Cleaned one out to see if unit would work any better if cleaned. No luck, and looked like they had never been cleaned or filter changed. Had kids with us so we checked under couches, beds, furniture, etc. before we left. Good thing we waited until then because there was dirt and food under the couches that I have no idea how long had been there (the food certainly wasn't what we had brought). King size mattress very comfy. Twin mattress horrible (didn't personally try others so can't comment). Hardwood floors were FILTY! Had black feet by end of night so we got to point of no one walking around without shoes on. Rug in LR needs non-slip pad underneath. Can't tell you how many times we all almost went for nose dives. Saw cleaning crew on day we left and told them about broken items (didn't want them to think we had done them) and they said they knew about them - THEN FIX THEM! Still had a great time (after cleaning and just dealing with smells and broken items). Guess there is a reason this is one of less expensive rentals in Cape Charles. If they did more thorough cleaning every once in awhile, they could get more money because of location and people wouldn't walk away with bad taste in their mouths (and horrible smell in the nose!).

Owner response:This is the first we have heard of the problems listed in this note and they have now been rectified. In addition we have a new rental agent in Cape Charles who will be more attentive to the property. There is a new coffee maker, a new grill is on the way, the toilet-paper holder and the towel rack have been fixed…the ice maker was simply turned off- once it was turned on it worked fine. We have owned the house for 4 years and this is the third summer of renting and we have never had a complaint or experienced a problem with ants or mice. Perhaps someone left food out that attracted the pests. The sulfur smell in the water is a city-wide problem that has emerged in the past year. It is my understanding that the city is taking steps to correct the problem. I should also note that the intensity of the sulfur smell in the water varies and that it bothers some people more than others. I wish the renter would have notified us or the rental agency at the time of the problems so they could have been addressed immediately.
