Enjoyed our DC stay

Guest: JMichaelH (Denver)
Date of Stay: 03/26/12 Review Submitted: 04/09/12

The condo was just right for us - parents and one teen. A comfortable, clean unit in a secure building. No car necessary, a short walk to the Metro Station followed by a short ride to the Mall. Everything was as advertised, 2 thumbs up.

GREAT TIME IN DC

Guest: Chris Tankersley (Phoenix, AZ)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 03/23/12

- Our family recently stayed at this downtown studio for spring break. The location of this studio is absolutely PERFECT for those seeking a location close to national monuments. The condo and complex were beautiful, clean and modern. The logistics of finding the condo and getting the keys, etc were very simple. We felt very safe in this neighborhood. This was our first time using VRBO and we are hooked and will use for all our future travel plans.

Great location and condo

Guest: irene b. (Bend, OR)
Date of Stay: 09/17/11 Review Submitted: 10/02/11

My girlfriend and I rented Ben's downtown DC condo for a week and we simply loved it...the location was close to everything we needed and loads of restaurants and shopping. We walked to everything and the Metro was very close and easily accessed as well. The condo was secure, well-appointed and perfect for our stay.

Fabulous Week!

Guest: Two Texans (San Antonio, Texas)
Date of Stay: 04/28/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

This property was just as listed...no surprises! We especially loved that it was close to the Metro and that so many buses pick up right out front...very little wait time. We did not rent a car (a first for us), but did not need one, thanks to the D.C. Metro system and the easy access this property provides. My husband and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in Washington D.C. and this is certainly a vacation we will always remember. We would recommend this location to anyone planning a visit to this area.

Great overall experience!

Guest: Greg Fairchild (Fruita, CO)
Date of Stay: 04/18/11 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

Easy access directions once we arrived. The listing description was accurate. Good location to all of the attractions D.C. has to offer. Walked everywhere. Quiet, including, never heard from Ben, but we never needed him either. Clean. Well maintained. No laundry soap, wash cloths or toilet paper as promised -- make sure you bring some. Whole Foods was wonderful for most of our eating, however, all restaurants in the area we tried were great also. Really enjoyed the coziness of a studio and found the kitchen a plus over staying in a motel room. Wonderful to have access to a washer and dryer. We would recommend this property to anyone. Enjoyed the stay and will consider Home Away again in our future travels.

Repeat stay

Guest: HomeAgain (Portland, Oregon)
Date of Stay: 04/09/11 Review Submitted: 04/22/11

This is an excellent venue for a stay in central Washington DC that meets a variety of needs. It is sparklingly clean and an efficient layout that is quiet and comfortable like home. Access is great to the sights but with easy walking proximity to groceries (Whole Foods) or excellent and varied dining opportunities. I vote with my wallet and I am a return visitor. I really do not see how you could go wrong or do better. I will return.

Upon walking into the property, I was relieved to see that it was exactly as pictured as advertised. It was spotless, just the way I like it! This property was well taken care of and it showed. Ben provided all the information I needed to get in and begin our great adventure. He and I communicated once in the evening regarding use of the dishwasher. He came the next morning to flip a switch under the sink to supply power - wow, how attentive is that? He had lots of information regarding public transportation and history of the buidling itself - he is a very personable guy - thank you Ben!!! When you go - don't forget to go up to the roof top and see the view, it was beautiful - also check out the second floor library/lounge - it was very classy. This was my second trip to DC, when I come again, this is where I want to stay, if all my friends don't get to it first (maybe I should keep this gem a secret!) Once my daughter and I got tired of walking, we ventured out and started using public transportation. The Metro lines, the Metro buses, and the Circulator took us everywhere we wanted to go from DC Cupcakes in Georgetown (Circulator) to the Basilica for the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Red Line to Glenmont -- Brookland stop) and even the Westfield Montgomery Mall (Red Line to Medical Center, then Metro Bus J2). We also took the Red Line to the Zoo, which you don't want to miss! We rode out to Chevy Chase to pick up my son from JrNYLC at the 4-H Conference Center (Red Line to Friendship Heights, then Metro Bus L8) - That saved us $27 in cab fare each way. We even rode the Yellow Line to the Airport without a problem! What I'm saying is that with this property's location - transportation is a snap! All in all, our trip was a complete success and a real adventure - and the rental property was just the place to come back to after 6 long days of sightseeing! Don't miss out on this "National Treasure" - it is the place to be!!!

Well equipped, modern condo

Guest: Dobbin ( Denmark)
Date of Stay: 03/14/11 Review Submitted: 04/07/11

This compact studio is very well equipped, well maintained and exactly as outlined in the listing description. We rented it for 4 nights as a welcome respite from living in hotel rooms (though bed not as big) and were able to 'live normally' ie. cook as if at home, wash, iron, wake up to freshly brewed coffee, use the internet etc. as well as pop out to local tourist attractions. In general it was immensely quiet, with the exception of something sounding like a refuse collection lorry arriving around 6am each morning. To sit on the roof top area for an early evening drink was very relaxing. This is the second time we have used HomeAway and just as our first experience, we would very happily recommend this apartment to singles/couples and would definitely rent it again if we were to return to Washington.

Simply Brilliant!!

Guest: Daino (Australia)
Date of Stay: 03/06/11 Review Submitted: 04/15/11

I had never used Homeaway before and wasn't too sure what to expect, but this property ticked all of the boxes! It was central to everything we wanted to see. It was clean, quiet, spacious (although a queen bed would be welcomed instead of the double) and modern. It was so good to be able to cook our own meals, and the convenience store nearby had most provisions that we may have forgotten to bring with us. Great restaurants all within a 5 minute walk, and rooftop terrace gave some great views over the city. The owner made it a breeze to access the studio (directions to find it, and get the keys were spot-on). I will DEFINITELY choose this property again next time I stay in Washington DC - and so should you.

We did not cook, but it had everything to cook if w had chosen to.

We would recommend this property to anyone! It was just as advertised. The property is in a very convenient location for the bus, metro, CVS, groceries, coffee etc. I was very glad we did not rent a car as we would not have used it. The building is quiet and secure and a great place to return to after a long day of walking around the city. The studio itself was just the perfect size for us (2 adults, 2 kids) and was equiped with everything needed for our stay. We really appreciated the washer and dryer, especially after getting caught in the one and only torrential down-pour during our stay! We highly recommended this property! Thanks Ben!

Great Location, Great Condo

Guest: Rosebud (Oceanside, Ca San Diego county)
Date of Stay: 10/08/10 Review Submitted: 10/15/10

We came to DC for vacation for one week, thought it would be best to rent a condo with a washer and dryer and eat most of our meals there. Not to sound cheap but we are on a budget and every penny helps. The Metro is two blocks away which was good for us, we have trouble walking far places, can you tell we are Senior's, anyway, the Metro took us everywhere we needed to go. The condo was very clean and very attractive, the kitchen was modern with all great appliances.CVS was across the street and two blocks up and one across was a grocery store with everything you could possible need. We enjoyed the roof top with a glass of wine each day after a long day of sightseeing, the view up there is fantastic. The condo was much bigger then a hotel room, it gave more freedom to move around. Ben was very helpful, we had a little troubl with the T.V., with his help we got it from Spanish to English speaking. We will recommend this condo to our friends and family that might be going to D.C. We could not have had better weather for that time of year, it was exceptional. Thanks so much Patrick and Rose.

We loved this condo and will definitely stay there again. Since there are already detailed reviews for this property, we won’t repeat what has already been stated because the reviews are accurate. This was the first time using homeaway.com and couldn’t have been happier. The pictures are a true representation of how the condo looks. It was clean, up-to-date decor and appliances, and well maintained. It is conveniently located two blocks from a Metro station and has many restaurants within walking distance. We highly recommend this property. Thanks Ben!

Great Place!

Guest: secondbanana (Pittsburgh)
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 07/16/10

This place looks just like it does in the pictures, except that the owner has added opaque blinds so the sunlight will not wake you in the mornings. I couldn't believe how quiet the building was! It must have been because it was on the 10th floor. Everything was super clean and the beds were comfy. It had everything that you needed, and if you did forget something, the CVS across the street is open 24 hours. The building itself is "green"...so if you love the environment rent this place! As I am a single mother with two teenage daughters, it was very comforting to know that the building was secure. So much better than a hotel...with God knows who walking up and down the corridors at all hours of the day and night. The location was excellent. Just a short walk everyday to the Mcpherson Station Metro. There were several restaurants in the immediate vicinity including a chinese buffet a couple doors down. Plenty of coffee/pastry or lunch places too. The kitchen is modern with top of the line appliances. More than what you will need actually. If you are like me, you just need a place to keep your dinner leftovers cold and a way to heat up tea in the morning. All plates, glasses, utensils, cooking tools and even spices are included. The washer and dryer work great (we did four loads...lol) and we appreciated the iron and ironing board too. The A/C was set at a very comfortable temperature and very nice to come home to after those long, hot July days. The closet is huge and although the studiio is not large, there is ample storage for your things. There was also a variety of "tourist" brochures that came in handy. The wi-fi is super-fast. *Hint* Bookmark the website for the Metro. You will need it to map your trips if you do not have a car at your disposal. The owner was also very helpful and available via phone, email and texting. We would definitely rent this property again if we return to Washington DC for an extended stay. Please note that it is not a large space, but it is much larger and much more private than a hotel room. It really is just everything you need if you plan on spending the days sightseeing.

Owner response:Dear Secondbanana, To show appreciation to our return guest, we gladly offer a discount off of advertised rate or a free night(a free night will depend on length of stay) on all future visits with us at either of our properties. Thanks for your input, your personal accounts about our property, while visiting DC should be helpful to future guest who want to choose our property over the next. All the best, Ben

Guest: Jim (Grand Junction, CO, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 06/28/10

We found the studio to be very clean, modern, well-equiped and well-maintained. Being so close to the Metro, tourist sights and a grocery store made planning our daily excursions easy. We particularly appreciated the in-unit wireless, the roof-top deck and the radio. The building is quiet and secure. This is our second experience with homeaway.com and we were pleased with the unit and the accurate description; (unlike a unit we previously rented in Salt Lake City); we enjoyed our stay very much. We would recomend this studio to anyone who is visiting the area. We found the people of D.C. to be very friendly and helpful and Ben was courteous and helpful on the one occasion when we talked to him.

Great place overall! Easy location to drive to from out of town, though parking is a bit of a hassle in the neighbourhood on the weekends, as most of the private lots are closed. Clean, spacious condo perfect to use as a home base to explore the city. Easy walking distance to a lot of the sites. We would stay here again on our next trip to DC.

Awesome location

Guest: Brint (Missoula, MT)
Date of Stay: 05/14/10 Review Submitted: 05/25/10

What a great way to spend an extended stay in DC! Being just a short distance from a lot of great places to eat, the Metro, and only about a mile walk to the National Mall this place was ideal. The unit was very clean and pretty comfy, we really enjoyed it. The owner was easily reachable via his cell phone with one question we had which was great! With a few stores close by as well we were able to quickly get some things to stock the kitchen, which was a real time and money saver for us. The bar/restaurant nearby, 14K, (on 14th and K street), was a great place to have a drink and appetizers just a block away from the unit. Once we figured out the key FOB in the elevator everything else was pretty easy!

Great rental property

Guest: RozBur (Paramus, NJ, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/07/10 Review Submitted: 04/13/10

I came here with 2 girlfriends and we had a great time in DC and the condo was in the perfect location; convenient to everything. The condo itself was very clean and just as the photos depict. The condo was peaceful and quiet. The towels were very clean and plush; which was great. The kitchen had all necessary supplies for meals. The plus was having a washer/dryer in the unit; but there was no detergent available so I would suggest to bring some samples packets of detergent. Some places I have stayed usually leave at least one packet of detergent and a box of facial tissues; these are nice personal touches. Also, another nice touch would be a little booklet left on the kitchen table with the essentials of working the Wifi and the TV. Ben was very professional and generally a nice person. He follows up with any issues or questions you have. I would definetly stay here again. All in all we had a GREAT time. Thank you Ben for a nice place to stay.

My 12-year old daughter and I stayed here during Spring Break 2010. Ikea-decorated, clean, modern, loft-style living within easy walking distance to the Washington Monument, the White House and all the sights. Bus stop directly in front of the building and Metro stop two blocks away if you don't want to walk. Beautiful kitchen and bathroom generously supplied with all that you need for a vacation stay. Quiet building. We had a great time! Whole Foods and many reasonable restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance made eating out a breeze, too. Ben was immediately available when we had questions or needed info about the flat or about DC. We will definitely return.

I went to Washington DC for 4 days and stayed in this apartment with 5 people. Everything was nice and clean, and the location is really good. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or would stay there again. The CVS across the street is really convenient and its close to the metro. The only thing I didn´t like so much was the air mattress, It may be just that the battery needs to be replaced, but overnight it would lose a lot of air, so for 2 or 3 people it would be perfect.

We came for a conference and this is the first time we have used home away.com. In a word the condo was great. As we travel extensively, we have seen our share of pretty photos which do not correspond to the actual property. This is not the case here. The condo was clean, well maintained, comfortable and secure. It is located 2 blocks from a Metro station and has many restaurants that are within walking distance. It was a 15 minute walk to the convention center and a short walk to many DC attractions. I would recomend this listing to anyone who is visiting the area. Ben was helpful and provided excellent instructions.

The apartment was clean, large and well stocked with towels and linens. We also like the washer and dryer, which are very convenient and quiet. It's in a beautiful luxury apartment building and the furniture is new. You'll be very close to the White House, Whole Foods and the Circulator Bus that can take you anywhere. There are several parking garages within walking distance The only small problems were that the bathroom door was hard to close and that the divider between the bed and the kitchen needed to be reset. Our party had both 55+ and children and everyone loved it. We highly recommend it!

Really nice place

Guest: kfp (Marblehead, MA)
Date of Stay: 06/15/09 Review Submitted: 06/23/09

Was at this condo for a week in June and it's really nice for lots of reasons: Location is fantastic; the building is a Leed certified Green building so very modern and eco-friendly; very clean and well maintained condo on a high floor so it's very quiet; employees in the building are all extremely friendly and helpful; condo is located in the hotel district so getting a cab is literally a snap of the fingers; and there's lots of nice restaurants nearby. Just one little detractor, which is the bed is a double and not a queen, so it's a bit small for 2 people, especially if you are on the tall side. Other than that - I highly recommend this unit and will certainly rent it again.

Would Stay Again!

Guest: Corby (CT)
Date of Stay: 04/19/09 Review Submitted: 05/04/09

I used this rental while I was attending a conference at the Convention Center - less than 10 minute walk away. The location is safe; there are numerous restaurants within a ten-minute walk.... I walked everywhere (but then I'm a walker!) - the White House, U Street, Chinatown, Dupont Circle. The unit is just as described and very clean and quiet; it does not face the street. There is a large storage closet near the bed and in the washer/dryer closet in the bathroom. I had no problems. Perhaps one of the highlights is the roof deck. I was in DC perhaps the first warm Friday night in April and there were only a few other people out - and they were all in one group! Although I didn't see Ben, I know he was available if I had needed him. I would most definitely recommend this rental to a friend...and come back myself! There is not a separate bedroom; the futon converts to a couch and is right next to the bed. However, it is no different than having 2 beds in one hotel room - and you get the large bath, kitchen and dining area and washer and dryer - making it a great living space!

This is, as billed, a very nice contemporary studio in a wonderful location for walking and getting around via the Metro. There are many fine restaurants withing walking distance (Georgia Brown's, The Tabard Inn to name a few. The Waffle Shop is fun). The kitchen setup works fine with a huge refrigerator, nice range, and studio size dishwasher. The studio had everything we needed with the exception of Kleenex (a nice and inexpensive amenity), a light in the very spacious closet, and a couple of hooks to hang clothes and/or jammies. There were plenty of hangers. Another towel rack in the bathroom would be nice too. Remember to bring your own bath soap.

This is a really nice, spotless place in a new or completely renovated building. It's small, but perfect for a couple of people. In my case, my 7 year old and I came to DC for a few days. A big plus are the rooftop decks on the front and back of the building. From the front, there is a great view of the Washinton Monument, the National Cathedral and everything in between. The condo is located close to everything and makes renting a car unecessary. We found the owners to be pleasant, easy to work with and very professional.

Everything as advertised

The photographs, description, directions and information were all very well done. After confirming our reservation, Ben sent us directions and information that was very informative. The studio is a small, beautiful, and tidy space - very contemporary. It was well equipped and worked great as a base for sightseeing. There were two of us in the studio and we spent day after day at museums and monuments on the mall. We didn't have a car but soon mastered the Metro which is a short 2 blocks away. It was very efficient and appreciated after being on our feet all day. We cooked breakfasts and dinners in the studio which saved us a bunch of money over the high priced museum meals at lunch. The Whole Foods market was a great resource that we took advantage of. Ben was good about getting right back to us with the few questions that we had. The building is very secure and the area feels safe. We walked around after dark and had no problems. We look forward to renting again.

The apartment was more than what we expected! Ben was great to deal with. There was a lot of communication between us and the owner, which made us have a fantastic stay in DC. The unit is very close to major landmarks and attractions, as well as a Starbucks and a pharmacy. The unit itself was very clean, modern and well maintained. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit DC. Thanks Ben!

In residence, the way to stay in DC

Beautiful, quiet studio which was everything as advertised. The location is excellent - with Capitol attractions close by as well as the convention center and the inner DC more residential zone. This area to the north features various shops, a particularly well appointed Whole Foods market and a number of quality eateries that eases an extended stay. The studio was spotlessly clean with a well appointed kitchen, washer dryer in the unit and more TV channels on satellite than you'd care to surf. The internet connection had bandwidth to spare. All this plus a quite cost effective rate make this a spot to return to for my next DC stay.

We stayed at the studio for three nights in October of 2008. The description of the studio was accurate. It was clean, well-maintained and situated in a great location. With the kitchen, tall windows and ceilings, and washer-dryer, it was so much more spacious and convenient for our family than staying at a hotel would have been. We would definitely stay here again, as well as recommend this studio to family and friends.

We stayed here for five days in September and, as most people have said, the place looks just like the photos; it's quiet, clean, new appliances, very close to transportation options and the DC sights. I would recommend this over a hotel. It's nice to have a washer/dryer in the apartment (it was very humid when we were there, so we used it), and to have the option of cooking meals occasionally rather than all restaurants---although I like restaurants and I'd recommend the DC Coast just down the street.

This studio is beautiful and we highly recommend. The photos and description online are very accurate - the unit is very well maintained and clean. After a day of sightseeing, it was so much better to come back to this apartment rather than a hotel room - felt like home. Everything we needed/wanted was within easy walking distance. This is a security building with secure parking. Very safe, and we felt very comfortable walking around the surrounding neighborhood. Excellent customer service (thank you, Benjamin!). We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend to our friends.

Wonderful Washington DC digs...

My husband, son and I spent 3 wonderful days and 4 nights in this studio in mid-June 2008. It was a great experience! Admittedly, I was hesitant at first but read the reviews and decided to go for it. The studio was just as pictured. It was clean, well kept and had everything we needed. The washer and dryer was a nice extra not available in a DC hotel and allowed us to pack less and have more room in our car. It is very very bright in the morning so if that bothers you put a pillow over your head or pack eye sleepwear! But those same huge windows allowed us to view a spectacular full rainbow so no complaints from us! The price was an exceptional deal in comparison to hotels in the same vacinity; especially when the price per diem includes taxes and the parking fee was very reasonable! The location was great and we walked everywhere....Capital, Lincoln and Washington Monuments, Smithsonian museums, the Mall....we took it all in by foot travel. We did drive to the zoo though. The rooftop terrace was a nice place to unwind with a drink and watch the traffic below or just stare out over the DC area and at the Washington Monument. Ben was a great host in that he called prior to our arrival to make certain we were OK and whether we needed any assistance with directions driving into the city. Additionally, the transaction to secure rent of the studio was easy and without complication. I would definately and actually our second day emailed a friend to recommend this studio. If our travels ever take us through DC again, this studio will definately be our first choice for lodging. All in all excellent!!!!

The perfect home base for a trip to DC!

We have just returned from DC and loved the apartment. Very convenient to the Metro and buses which took us to all the sights. We were able to get a 7 day short trip pass which took us everywhere from the Metro stop 2 blocks from the apartment. It had everything we needed for our weeklong stay and was extremely clean and well kept. We highly recommend it!

Excellent base for exploring Washington

Date of Stay: 06/06/08 Review Submitted: 07/01/08

We two old timers spent a week in Washington doing all the usual tourist things. The central location and accessibility to public transport made it just about the best place for a tourist to stay in Washington. You can walk to most of the high value tourist spots if you are a bit active and the weather isn't too beastly. Unfortunately, our stay in June coincided with record breaking high temperatures, so our walking was severely curtailed. Fortunately the apartment has excellent air conditioning, so provided a cool refuge for heat exhausted travelers. The Unit itself is top class, everything new, shiny and comfortable. Plenty of room, and a good view from the 10th floor. Internet connection is first class, as is the multitude of TV channels available. We made excellent use of the Whole Foods supermarket a couple of blocks up near Logan Circle, and the nearby liquor stores. When it cooled down a bit after a few days we managed to walk to the Capitol, to the World War II memorial, the Lincoln and the Jefferson memorials, as well as the Smithsonian Institutions on the Mall. On the hot days we took the bus or the subway, and in the heat of the afternoon, on the couple of occasions we were quite pooped, we took a taxi for a few dollars. All in all, we highly recommend the apartment, which is real value for money, and is at the upper end of the comfort scale. Would love to do it again soon.

Location, Location, Location....

Date of Stay: 03/01/08 Review Submitted: 03/22/08

My husband and two children just stayed at this rental and had the best time. The apartment was clean, spacious, secure and so close to everything. The apartment was only about 4 blocks from the White House and 5 blocks from the Mall, monuments and museums. We have a 7 and 3 year old and we were able to walk everywhere. We did not even use the Metro, but there is a Metro station only two blocks from the apartment. I am not sure what the previous reviewer meant when she said the Metro is an 8 minute walk away, it only took us a few minutes to walk past it. Ben, the owner, was very professional and provided great customer service. Restaurants, attractions, grocery stores, coffee shops, etc., all within walking distance. We look forward to renting this property again in the future.

Owner response:Dear Julie: It's so rewarding to have had great guest like you and your family who have treated our place like their own. Your comments address some of the routine questions that future guest seem to have about the location as well as the suitablity for families with children. Thanks again and I will gladly offer a discount of some type to you and those who choose to stay with us again. Sincerely, Benjamin

The place to be when visiting DC

Guest: Danny P. (Greensboro, NC USA)
Date of Stay: 12/01/07 Review Submitted: 01/06/08

I spent a week at this studio apartment and I can honestly say that this place was well worth it. Metro station's close by (3 - 4 blocks) for easy access to the rest of the city. There's places to eat nearby, a Starbucks down the street, and a CVS pharmacy across the street. It's literally across the street. The studio itself is one room and a bathroom. The kitchen appliances is pretty much brand new and seems futuristic compared to ones at nice hotels. The kitchen table seats up to four people and its good for using as a card table or to put a laptop on. The television has many channels. Futon is comfy and great to relax on while watching tv. The bed's nice and comfy as well. The bathroom is nice as well, there's a washer/dryer combo in the closet (detergent provided) The ceiling to floor windows bring in a lot of sun during the day, but come night it seems better to lower the window blinds. The view is of the nearby retirement home and gym, its better to close the blinds for privacy. The neighborhood is safe day and at night. Within walking distance of the Mall, monuments, and even the White House. The most important thing is that the owner is friendly and polite to people. From when I first contacted him about renting he was very friendly and nice. Seriously, if I was visiting D.C. again and wanted to feel like a true local I'd definitely would try to rent this studio.

Owner response:Dear Danny: Thanks for treating the place like your own. Thanks to you and all of our wonderful guest the place still looks brand new. Its was nice meeting you and I hope your adventures bring you through DC again. Sincerely, Benjamin
