For years, we have been coming to Blowing Rock. It speaks to us. We enjoy the cooler weather in the summer when we white water raft, hike to waterfalls, go to Tweetsie Railroad, or drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The average temperature in the summer is 75. July 4th fireworks is at Tweetsie Railroad ( There are also fireworks at New Years and Valentine's Day.) and can be seen from the neighborhood. In the fall, we love to come and see the burst of color with the changing of the leaves. At Thanksgiving, our family tradition is to come to Blowing Rock and cut down our Christmas tree and then head to the Blowing Rock Park for a visit with Santa and carols around the bond fires. At Christmas, we come for the opening of ski season. Our kids all learned to ski at Appalachian Ski Mountain’s Swiss ski school. And now, they are all snow boarding. The spring is always interesting. You never know what the weather might bring. This past Easter, we spent time in the snow! And May brings the awaking of the rhondendrum blooms.
After all the years of visiting Blowing Rock, we finally bought a house in a perfect location, somewhat secluded but convenient to everything. We are within 5 miles of Blowing Rock’s Main Street and the Blue Ridge Parkway and a stone’s throw from the Appalachian Ski Mountain. The house is perched more 4,000 feet with long range views of Boone and Appalachain. We recently installed a circular hot tub on the back deck and have enjoyed going out at night and taking in the twinkle lights of houses off in the distance.
We just finished a renovation to Amazing Grace. We expanded the master suite and added a king size bed, a Jacuzzi tub, a new shower and hickory cabinets with twig mirrors above each sink. A LCD television hangs on the wall in the master. The sliding glass doors off the master lead to the new circular hot tub.
The great room/living room/kitchen now have a new stone gas fireplace, a cathedral ceiling with honey stained tongue and groove paneling and an LCD TV. The glass doors off the living room lead to the spacious deck. We have gas grill and patio furniture. The kitchen has a breakfast nook with a table that sits six and a breakfast bar that sits 4. We completed the renovation with all new hickory cabinets,appliances, cookware, utensils and dishes.
There are two other bedrooms. One with a double bed and twin bunk bed made out of logs. A small LCD TV hangs on the wall. Down the hall is another bath with a tub/shower. The last bedroom has a queen bed and a LCD TV.
We also added wifi so we could stay connected with friends and family and sneak in work if it means we can stay longer!

Got engaged here in April of 2008 - it is a beautiful, magical place. Breathtaking views, lovely & exceedingly well-appointed home, and best of all our well-behaved boy (Benjamin the Brindled mixed-breed) got to be part of one of our most memorable trips. Can't wait to return! Great shopping nearby (though we enjoyed Scrabble on the back deck immensely!) and don't miss the restaurant once called Dominick's Table (now called The Table) at the Inn at Crestwood. Inventive cuisine with impeccable service in a beautiful setting. Thanks for everything, Amazing Grace - what a perfect place to start our new life together!
