We are located in the Hudson Valley between New Paltz and Kingston. At the base of Mohonk Mountain and a short drive from the Catskill Mountains and Woodstock, we are near Wineries, Antiquing, Gourmet Restaurants, Lake Minnewaska, Mohonk Preserve, Golf, Snow Boarding, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Cross Country Skiing, Spas, the Pottery Trail, Ice Skating, Fishing, Biking, SUNY New Paltz, Culinary Institute and more.
Our 20 acre Horse Farm provides walking and riding trails as well as a seasonal swimming hole in the summer and cross country skiing trails in the winter.
We welcome animals and their owners to enjoy our own newly renovated facilities.
Accomodations:
A Ger or Yurt or Yurta is an ancient Mongolian tent.
The Yurt/Ger is a 700 square foot circular, insulated and heated tent (gas fireplace and baseboard) with a 5-foot operable skylight at the center complete with bedroom, living room/dining area, kitchen, bathroom, sleeping Loft and small deck. With a full sized bed in the bedroom, a king sized and a single pull-out futon couch in the living room and room for up to two small/agile adults or children in the sleeping loft, the Yurt can sleep up to six people. It is located in the middle of a horse field, behind a hill facing the stream. Cars are left on the main driveway (about a city avenue away) to preserve the natural experience of this eco abode. The farm also has a hot tub that is available four our guests use.
Solar panels are mounted on a stationary wagon next to the Yurt that also houses the inverter and batteries. The Yurt experience is a bit similar to a sailing trip without the sea sickness. Lots of 12 volt appliances, lots of tarp like windows to roll up, the sound of the wind on the sails...
The Yurt is our effort to create and share with others a harmonious home with a small foot print on the earth.
