Named for the great blue herons which frequent the pond and murmuring creek on the property, the Heron House is also a favorite of moose, elk, and a variety of other waterfowl which regularly grace the property.
The house itself is magnificent, with a heroic two-sided fireplace fronting both the dining room and great room. The massive great room has multiple seating groups for star gazing, wildlife watching, or just conversation around a crackling fire, while the dining room is open to the kitchen, ideal for cooks who like to visit with their family and guests while meals are being prepared.
The kitchen is a chef’s delight, with a large refrigerator, separate freezer, and six burner Thermadoor gas range with grill, along with a delightful breakfast area in a bay window warmed by the morning sun. The ground floor, which also features a beautifully paneled game room with pool table and full bath, is rounded off by a pantry, laundry room, powder room, and three car garage.
The upper level has a bunk room and three king-bed bedrooms, any one of which could be the master suite in most houses. Each bedroom has a high, vaulted ceiling, flat screen television, balcony, and its own private bath, and the master bath is further distinguished by a jetted tub, four headed shower, and separate sauna. The upper level also includes an office area and music room, complete with a gorgeous Steinway grand piano, overlooking the great room below.
Architecturally, the Heron House features a stacked stone and wood plank exterior, with an abundance of windows to better enjoy the superb views. A large deck wraps the East and South sides of the house, with a spacious hot tub strategically set on the Southeast corner of the deck to take advantage of the unobstructed views of the Gros Ventres and Tetons across the adjacent mountain meadows. Children and adults alike will enjoy wading in the gentle creek, while a free standing exercise studio will challenge both novices and accomplished athletes.
