This unique waterfront property is unfortunately the last surviving boathouse on Flathead Lake with living quarters above it. It is approximately 50 years old and was completely remodeled in the spring of 2007.
When you arrive you will not see the boathouse. From the road you will walk down a wooded path to a private funicular lift (incline tram system) that will carry you a hundred feet down to a world of lakeshore living. The lift will lower you onto the covered open-air deck. It is complete with a Weber gas BBQ, patio heater, table, chairs and a swing for two.
As you step through the sliding glass door you will see that the living level is decorated with fishing motif. In the corner is a wood stove which is ready to set the mood and can be enjoyed from the overstuffed sofa-bed. The kitchen is well-furnished with cooking utensils and all appliances except for a dishwasher. There is an adorable bath with shower.
Up the winder staircase is a loft bedroom with queen bed and step-in closet. There is a dormer niche with a bench, ideal for enjoying the view while sipping your morning coffee.
The dock and lake level of the property is shared with the property owners. You have your own boat slip and have full access to the dock, beaches, swim area and swim ladders. There is plenty of wood provided for having a bonfire in the fire pit. The lakefront also has a romantic footbridge, patio area with picnic table and tetherball. The canoe and paddleboat are easily launched from the patio area.
Somers Bay Boathouse is conveniently located: 12 miles west of Bigfork which has live theatre and dining; an hour from Glacier Park; 10 miles from historic downtown Kalispel; 5 miles from Lakeside which has a grocery store and dining; great restaurants are within 5 minutes driving toward downtown Somers.

We stayed at the boathouse 8/1-8/8 and had a WONDERFUL time! The property is situated down a steep hill and there is an electronic lift to provide ease of access. Because of this, the property is very private and very romantic. We had 4 people in our party. Us adults slept up in the queen sized bed in the loft and our 2 teenage boys shared the sofabed downstairs and we were all comfortable. The view was spectacular due to the large windows in front of the property that literally look down over the water. And when the weather wasn't the best, the sound of the water crashing up on the shore made it sound as if staying on a beach. The property had everything that we needed to live comfortably for a week: kitchen supplies, toiletries, hair dryer, etc. There were water-related items such as a paddle boat and a canoe to use as well for our entertainment. We also had a special guest-Bandit the cat who visited us daily who everyone just fell in love with. Although there is internet access on the property, you may not be able to access it from the boathouse-we just went upstairs and sat in the car or on the porch steps if we absolutely needed it-no big deal. The owners, Karen and Earl are just as nice as they can be. We definitely hope to return!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What an amazing week at the boathouse! We couldn't have picked a better spot on Flathead Lake to get the best of everything - we were close to all the sightseeing and activities but secluded down by the lake enough to make for such a fun, romantic week. Would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for some time to just get away. Plenty to do right at the house and the views are priceless, we have them etched in our memory.
