    • We spent this past April weekend at the cottage with our daughter and another couple and their baby. We couldn't have asked for a better time! The cottage is very well decorated and spacious with a huge fully equipped kitchen. The weather was absolutely perfect, and we really enjoyed the canoes. We would recommend this cottage to anyone and definitely plan on staying there again. Thanks for a great weekend!

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook.) My husband and I arrived on Friday, Oct. 25th. Our children are grown so we had it all to ourselves. We enjoyed the weekend very much. It was so quiet and peaceful. The cottage was great! I fell in love with it instantly. The decor is so warm and inviting. The back porch swing was nice. There was always ducks, geese and squirrels to watch. The weather was not so good. It was cloudy, cool and at times a nest of rain all weekend. I think the overcast skies just enhanced the color of the beautiful fall leaves. We enjoyed riding and looking at the countryside, and of course taking pictures. The barbeque at Hawg Heaven was great. It’s in Hiawassee, out Hwy 76 West on the right. The Barn Door in Young Harris was pretty good. But if you go on a weekend, you need to make reservations. We waited for about an hour. The little shops downtown are great, too. Well, it’s Sunday and we’re getting ready to leave. We’re from South Georgia, down in the flatlands with all the gnats. But it’s home and we love it there. I hope you enjoy this cottage as much as we have this weekend. Have fun making memories!

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook.) This is a beautiful cottage. We have had such a wonderful time. The days were still warm enough for the kids to jump off the dock for on afternoon swim, yet the nights were cool enough to wrap up in blankets on the porch swing. Very relaxing!! Thanks for sharing your cozy cottage with our family. We hope to be back next year!

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook.) It was a cool, rainy day when we arrived, but your home couldn’t have been more perfect! The warm reds & yellows and bright white paint were welcoming and comfortable. We visited with new acquaintances for awhile, and then went for dinner. Saturday evening was cozy and congenial. Sunday, we went for a ride in the canoe, enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with new friends, and then took a walk in the rain down to the end of the road. We enjoyed a great lunch at the house and women visited while men watched football and young people played in the water. Guests left Sunday evening and we enjoyed a quiet dinner of leftovers for our family. Monday was beautiful! Two of us went on a long canoe ride while I made phone calls to insurance companies regarding our auto accident Thursday night. Later we took a ride and bought steaks to grill at home for dinner. What a wonderful, relaxing three days we spent in your beautiful home here! I love every room. The bedrooms are great (with comfortable beds)! Thanks for sharing with us. We loved our visit here.

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook. We've omitted their first names for privacy.) Sat. August 10 – Arrived on the heels of the Mountain Fair parade and found the cottage as lovely as the web site depicted. My parents, sister, nephew, brother and I are looking forward to a week of R&R. Sun. August 11 – After a leisurely morning on the porch, we decided to go on a waterfall excursion. The nearest seemed to be High Shoals. Our brochure indicated a “scenic” 1.5 mile drive, however we apparently missed the sign and wound up on a 10 mile trek along a one lane dirt and gravel road over the mountain. We never saw a waterfall, but had a harrowing, yet hilarious experience. Mon. August 12 – Our group split today. The boys went rafting. The rest of us went to the Mountain Fair. We enjoyed fried apple pies and the music. Tues. August 13 – The boys departed today – school starts tomorrow. Undaunted by our pervious experience, we once again went on a waterfall hunt. This time we stayed on the main roads to Clayton, Hilliard, Highlands NC, Franklin NC and back to Hiawassee. We saw several beautiful falls this time out. Wed. August 14 – Today’s scenic driving tour took us to Cherokee NC, through the Smokey Mountains National Park, onto Cade’s Cove. On our way back through Cherokee, we left a few quarters at Harrah’s Casino. Thurs. August 15 – Rented a pontoon and explored the lake today. We got caught in a rain shower, but enjoyed our trip thoroughly. Fri. August 16 – Made the short trip down to Helen and looked in the Alpine Village shops. After a lazy afternoon on the porch, we had supper at Daniels. Sat. August 17 – Departure day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and leave rested with a great appreciation for Hiawassee and Lake Chatuge.

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook. We've omitted their first names for privacy.) This was our family’s first trip to Hiawassee. Loved your cottage. The back porch is so peaceful. We canoed, went whitewater rafting down the Chattooga River, rented a pontoon boat on Lake Chatuge, visited Helen and Highlands, NC. We enjoyed the Georgia Mountain Fair and had a nice meal at the Fieldstone Restaurant.

(This entry was taken from Stillwater's written guestbook. We've omitted their first names for privacy.) We have been vacationing on the lake for several years. We have yet to have a bad vacation anywhere on this beautiful lake. Every year we make the journey over to Dillard GA to go to the Dillard House. We highly recommend this place. The food is great. We loved hanging out on the dock during the days and hitting all our favorite restaurants in town for dinner each night. Thank you so much for opening your home to us. The kids loved the canoes, until the trip back in. Then we got to paddle in. As soon as we got close enough to the dock, they bailed out of the canoe and left us completely. We suggest you don’t go too far out if you take kids. The home was more than the web site said. Thank you so much.
