Perfect spot in a quiet (yes quiet!) area of the Quarter that my fiance and now wife spent 5 nights. Every member of our wedding group who stopped in were so jealous of our accommodations. Great New Orleans feel and an awesome space. Thank you Brad for letting us share your condo, it was the perfect spot for us and we will be back!

We really, really enjoyed our four days in the Big Easy mainly because of the focal point of Down on D. We arrived Tues. around 3pm and parked our car on St. Ann which is just across the street. We did not move the car till we left for home Friday am. The place is so well stocked. Most of the cleaning people clean out all the good stuff left from other guests, not here. You had spices, butter, bloody mary mix, crackers, potato chips, breakfast food, coffee, it was amazing the amount of food here. They might have just as well opened their booze cabinet to us too. The place is decorated amazingly well. (One thing I might add...if you are handicapped, you will have a hard time negotiating the circular stairs to the sleeping quarters.) One giant thing they have is a street parking pass so you can park on the street as an owner. The Holiday Inn three blocks up the street on Dauphine charges $38 / day for parking at their hotel! Staying at DoD gives you the feeling of being a real native of NO versus staying isolated in a hotel. In closing, these owners have real character. We were supposed to take this four-day trip last Fall, but at the last moment we had a family crisis. According to the contract, they could have kept 100% of our payment. Yet they were kind enough to allow us to pick another three night stay, within the next 12 months at the same rate. Very generous. They were always very responsive to all our questions, etc.

We decided on a last minute trip to New Orleans and found this wonderful rental; perfect for two people. We hadn't been to NOLA for about 20 years and I am glad we decide to rent as opposed to a hotel stay. Except for our confounding arrival to town when we drove right smack dab into the middle of a giant dog parade (hey, it was early Mardi Gras!), everything went without a hitch. Parking was easy (after the parade moved along) and the rental was absolutely beautiful, from the darling quaint courtyard to the gorgeous furnishings. And best of all, the location was fantastic. We never moved the car except for street cleaning day. We came/went easily; the street was safe, and we walked everywhere in the French Quarter: we ate oysters, drank Pimm's Cups (and absinthe for the first time), visited the St. Louis Cemetery nearby, saw a great band at The House of Blues (and had a King Cake cocktail), had a lovely Valentines Day dinner on a balcony overlooking the city. I loved all the Mardi Gras decorations blanketing the city; I took a ton of fantastic photos. It couldn't have been more perfect! Brad was very accessible and attentive with any concerns and questions. I didn't know if we would ever get to visit new Orleans again and I am so very glad we did. I highly recommend this rental. The pictures are true to life. The only thing I would mention is that more than two guests could get pretty tight. Thanks to Down on Dauphine (and Brad) for making this a vacation to remember. I hope we can get there again before another 20 years pass.

We just returned from our trip to New Orleans and highly recommend this property for parties of 2-3. It's small, but still way bigger than a hotel room; and that is a huge part of its charm. You couldn't ask for a better location or nicer place to stay and we truly were made to feel like guests.

Down on Dauphine is one of the best experiences I've had in many years of renting through VRBO. Brad could not be a more accommodating host, and everything that was promised was delivered - and then some. Down on Dauphine is a charming home away from home, with all of the conveniences. Imagine staying in the "guest house" of a real Creole Cottage in the French Quarter! Near everything and close enough to walk to see the sights, but far enough away from the noise of Bourbon Street to be able to sleep soundly at night. The place was impeccably clean and comfortable and furnished like I would furnish my own home. Thanks Brad for a great stay! We will be back.

Down on Dauphine exceeded our expectations in every way. The location was fantastic! It was within walking distance for all French Quarter sights and activities. We did have a car but only used it if we wanted to go to other parts of New Orleans. We have successfully used VRBO before but this was our best experience mainly because the owner, Brad, was so helpful and ensured we had all our questions answered in addition to providing us with local dining and entertainment guides. Staying in a beautifully furnished condo complete with Mardi Gras tree (made a great Christmas tree for us) was SO SO SO much more fun than a hotel. Experiencing midnight Christmas Eve Mass at St Louis Cathredral was a highlight. Even though we just got to stay 4 nights, we actually felt part of the local community. We cooked some meals in after shopping at the local corner grocer. Easy walking distance to local eating establishments that were very good. Overall, my husband and I would highly recommend Down on Dauphine and hope we get to come back soon!!

Arrived back home yesterday from a mother/daughters adventure in New Orleans, which was made all the more wonderful with this fantastic condo. The location couldn't have been better, the decor was amazing, it was clean and everything we needed was there. I would highly recommend this property! It was perfect for the three of us, the pull out couch was comfortable for one person, but could certainly fit two in a pinch. Thank you Brad, for being so accommodating and sharing your home.....we couldn't have wished for a nicer place to stay!

We stayed at Down on Dauphine in late September 2011. We have had many pleasant experiences with VRBO rentals, however, this was one of the best. Brad was wonderful to work with from organizing the visit to calling us to be sure all was ok after we arrived. The condo is beautifully decorated. It couldn't be in a better location. Just a block off of Bourbon St but you'd never know there was a party going on just a block away. The condo and private courtyard are very quiet and beautifully hidden away from the action. Thank you Brad. We hope to return again one day soon.

Brad & Mark, I appreciate you letting Holly & I stay at "Down on Dauphine". The anticipation was well worth it for Holly & I. The place is beautiful! We will never come back to New Orleans without staying here. Worth every dime and more. You guys certainly go the extra mile to make this place feel like home not vacation. The decor is stunning and everything fits perfectly. As for the location:) well we haven't seen our car since we arrived! Everything is in walking distance which is fabulous. Holly had an amazing birthday weekend!!!! I had a great time too! My favorite part is being able to sit in the courtyard first thing and relax. I haven't felt this relaxed in years! Thank you both again for allowing us to stay. We couldn't stop telling everyone about it. Spencer & Holly Cade

We stayed in this beautiful condo for four nights, and had a trip that we will never forget. The condo is right in the middle of the french quarter. The condo itself is beautiful and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect, you don't need taxis or transportation as everything is easily in walking distance. I highly recommend this condo for anyone who wants to get a real feel for New Orleans. We will definitely be traveling back to New Orleans, and we will most certainly be staying in this romantic condo once again.

Condo and courtyard......beautiful and owner Brad extremely gracious. Very close to everything. Bed upstairs very comfortable. Couple of complaints in that we had someone renting the condo across the courtyard and every night she would complain about us talking or playing music...requesting that we stop talking and turn music off...so her daughters could get to sleep. We complied the first night thinking these were children. Next day we saw her daughters and they both looked about 20/21 years of age. THIS on vacation in N"alwins at 10pm at night! Not at all late... and mind you we were playing Diana Krall..... not loud music. (not Brads fault) we ended up with neighbor/renter such as this.) Neighbors Allison and other/gentleman/forget his name?.who live there year round.... very nice. There were four of us staying in the condo and we ran out of washcloths within a day. No sheets on the pull out mattress/sofa downstairs so had to give them ours/from upstairs bed. Only one bath so if guests had to use restroom had to "holler up" to make sure it was okay to come up. It worked out fine. Had to move car all the time (our fault..shouldn't have rented!) b/c of street being cleaned. Brad called a couple of times to check up on us. All and all would highly recommend this condo. Just pray that particular lady is not renting across from you. We ended up having "words. This was my nieces 21st B'day and her and her best friend (we flew them down for four nights) had the time of their lives! Sofa bed a bit uncomfortable for them but when you're 21 in N'awlin's...you don't care!! (neither of them drink) but did enjoy the "show" that is Bourbon St. You will not be disappointed. We travel often and were very pleased with most everything. Thank you Brad!

Conveniently 1 street over from Bourbon St., so you are not in the action, but only a 1 minute walk from the festivities. The place was super clean, well furnished, and very comfortable. What can I say about this superb property right in the heart of the French Quarter, New Orleans, that hasn't already been said. Brad was the perfect host, and being out of the country renters, he was there personally to hand over the keys and show us around. What a delight coming home, after hours of wandering New Orleans streets, to our own little piece of paradise. This condo has French style and sophistication and all one block from Bourbon Street. You might think that it would be very noisy being so close to all the night action, but we didn't hear any of the noise from the crowds at all. Superbly fitted out with all the little luxuries that one could want, even down to the makings in the fridge for Mimosa's, and delectable pralines left out for us to enjoy. Pure bliss! The supermarket was handy being only a few blocks down from the Condo on Dauphine. We were never very far from restaurants which were only minutes away and the mighty Mississippi was also not far. Thank you Brad for making our stay in your Condo truly memorable. I will definitely be recommending your lovely home away from home to any of my friends who may be travelling to New Orleans in the future. We will definitely be back. Kind regards Fiona and Peter Samson

Another fantastic stay. I just can not imagine a better location in the French Quarter than DoD! Afternoons in the courtyard have become a highlight for us now on our trips to New Orleans and its just a 30 second walk to cocktail service at the corner bar. Brad has been a great host the past two years and we will continue to book our trips here as long as he will have us! It's a relaxing hide away right in the middle of all the attractions of the French Quarter! We've stayed at many hotels over the years in the quarter and none come close to DoD!

We stayed at DOD in September 2010. This is a very nice condo, located in the heart of the Quarter. We have stayed in Hotel after Hotel and this place is hands down our favorite. The condo is behind a locked gate and very private, it is appointed very nice and located on two floors. The only thing that else I could have asked for was a potty on the ground floor. Thanks Brad!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Down on Dauphine for three nights- We had such a GREAT time! This is a wonderful place to stay! It is centrally located, and is within walking distance to anything you might need, and everyplace worth visiting in the French Quarter. We would love to go back and we have already told friends that if they ever make plans to stay in the French Quarter- this is the place to stay. Every amenity was thought of and provided for. We enjoyed this accommodation so much, that our rainy day- spent primarily inside, was even wonderful. This place is so charming- the decor reflects an owner that cares for his space and who has a superb taste level.- Thanks Brad for making our stay so special.

Just returned from our last trip to New Orleans. We've been going at least once a year for the last ten or so and this was our first time at Down on Dauphine. We've been in the Quarter a number of times, over on Frenchmen a few, and the CBD. We've done the hotel scene, B&B's, etc. Some with great locations and lousy conditions and some visa versa. We love the city and always tend to sacrifice something in order to be there. I can honestly say that for this trip we finally found the best place in all catagories. Down on Dauphine is nestled nicely in the middle of the Quarter, being just far enough out of the noise escape it when you need to. We felt very well taken care of with Brad's helpful communication and guidance regarding our stay there. In reference to the place itself.....the entire condo was spotless and well appointed from the bathroom down to the kitchen. We loved the layout and the amenities and had an incredibly comfortable stay. We always look forward to our next trip to NO and now are equally excited about our next stay at Down on Dauphine.
Owner response:Thank you for the great comments. We try hard to make our Guests feel like they are at home but with some special attention. We add little extras that we feel that guests need that make their French Quarter experience more enjoyable. And we love sharing our place with others that enjoy the Quarter as much as we do. We appreciate all our Guests and always welcome them back to "Down on Dauphine". Thanks again, Brad

My mother, sister and I stayed here the weekend of January 14-17th. It was their first time visiting New Orleans and I wanted to make it special for them. I'm happy to say I chose the right place to stay. Brad has thought of everything to make your visit to the Quarter comfortable. There are umbrellas in the closet should it rain (it did), and if you should leave your hairspray at home there is some in the bathroom. The apartment is one of those beautiful little oasis' of calm that you see glimpses of here and there in the Quarter. The courtyard is well taken care of and the view from the loft bedroom's balcony is gorgeous. Yes, I said balcony. For some reason there is no picture of it in the description on this site. I think in the spring this would be great to open the doors and let the breeze float over you while you sleep. The decor is really lovely and the artwork is interesting in a good way. Don't forget to bring your ipod as there is a player and speakers all over the apartment. The bathroom is nicely appointed and the towels are of great quality. This apartment would be great for a couple or a family with one or two children. The sofa folds down into a full size bed. The only somewhat negative comment I have is that the sofa bed could be just a little more comfortable. But, no big deal. Having said all this, I can't wait to go back and take my husband to stay in this romantic pied-a-terre. Thank you Brad for letting us tourists stay in your lovely place!

My fiance (now husband) and I stayed at Down on Dauphine for a week - a few days leading up to our wedding and for a few days following our wedding. I used to live in New Orleans, but we now live in Chicago. All of our wedding festivities were taking place in the French Quarter. We were married at St. Louis Cathedral... so we were just steps from the church (and great restaurants and fun bars). The place was beautifully decorated and had lots of charm. Location was perfect (safe and quiet, but right in the middle of the Quarter). Brad - the owner - was so kind and helpful. I would stay here again and hope to in the future.

It was decorated with such detail, the location was amazing, and Brad was the perfect host. I would without a doubt recommend this place for anyone looking for the real New Orleans experience. I would never stay anywhere else, unless that is, I can convince my husband to buy our own little slice of heaven. Thanks again Brad. Loved the Christmas card!

We'd been planning on a visit to New Orleans and had made other arrangements for a home rental through VRBO. Those arrangements fell through when owner realized that he had double-booked the home. We called Brad at the last minute (2 days before our flight!) and although I know it was not very convenient for him to arrange cleaning, etc. at the last minute, he was so gracious and allowed us to come to his home. He sent me links to sites so we could pre-plan our time there and when we arrived, he had placed flyers for activities that we had discussed on the kitchen counter. He certainly didn't have to do that. Well, we had a lovely time in New Orleans and plan to come back, since 5 days wasn't enough to see what we wanted to see. To everyone considering visiting New Orleans, this condo is beautiful and certainly has everything we could need. It is very conveniently located in the French Quarter. It was nice to know that after a day of sightseeing, we could come back, rest and regroup, and go out again without having to leave the quarter. Your home is lovely, Brad. Thanks for sharing it with us. Both you and your home are gems.

What a beautiful, comfortable place to call home in New Orleans! We just returned from 4 days in "Down on Dauphine" and it was so hard to leave! The condo exceeded our expectations 100-fold, we were speechless when we first walked into this gorgeous unit. It could not have been filled with more amenities to make us feel at home in this wonderful city. It was such a pleasure after a long day of sightseeing to come back to such a quiet and clean house, with a picturesque courtyard, friendly neighbors, and a prime location. The bed is soooo comfortable, too! That's a rarity in most rental units and it made our trip nicer knowing we'd get a good night of rest and have the energy to explore New Orleans. I can't ever imagine staying anywhere else when we come back!

Brad! I cannot thank you enough for everything that "Down on Dauphine" offers. You have obviously spent great effort and care in the decoration and generous accomodations (down to specialty soaps, and a cupboard with teas, coffee, and anything we needed). How foolish I now feel to have stayed anywhere else... your condo IS the epitomy of French Quarter living. The location could not be better. At times we had to remove ourselves from the too comfortable courtyard and tour the city. We had the luck of meeting some of the other owners... all as interesting and impressive as the last. Even they made us feel at home! I could just go on... my greatest suggestion to anyone considering this unit for rental is simply this: you can't possibly go wrong for so many reasons... but DON'T rent the week I can make it back there!!!

We just returned from a week-long honeymoon at Down on Dauphine. If (when) we return to New Orleans, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Mark and Brad have taken extreme care to meet any possible need a guest might have (including rain ponchos, a refrigerator and pantry with food and wine, all types of toiletries, great reading material, etc., etc.). The condo itself is gorgeous--very New Orleans but completely updated. The courtyard is perfection. The location is good for everything and is quiet notwithstanding how close it is to Bourbon Street. The price is a bargain given the alternatives. Look no further--Down on Dauphine positively rocks!

It was so conviently located to everything we wanted to do, and was a peaceful retreat to come back to when the busy city had had its way with us. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else because no place other than your condo would have all the amenities of home.

We spent five wonderful days enjoying Down on Dauphine over the first weekend of JazzFest 2008. This was also our ten year anniversary, so we were looking for something romantic and special. Down on Dauphine was perfect! We enjoyed having the fully stocked and elegant kitchen, drinking coffee in the courtyard, and luxuriating in the high-quality bedding. The owners have thought of everything, down to extra umbrellas for a sudden shower. The decor is beautiful, the home is spotless, and the vibe is true French Quarter elegance with a dash of funkiness.

Guess your wondering why I am posting a testimonial in March when we stayed at “Down on Dauphine” in January 2008. Believe it or not, I have found it hard to write a short liner about an incredible home-away-from-home without seeming like I was paid to give such glowing comments. If you are able to reserve this home during your stay in NOLA you are in for a real treat. We are frequent VRBO renters and have stayed in many places. “Down on Dauphine” is a high-class home and stands way above the many places we have rented. “Down on Dauphine” is one street over from Bourbon Street and in the heart of The French Quarter. Very safe, centrally located, and absolutely beautiful! The minute you step into the courtyard from the walkway you are wowed by the patio. The patio is tranquil, tropical, and relaxing. In the morning, we would sit outside for breakfast and we had mini-happy hour before heading out for the evening. The moment you walk into this unit, you are warmed with many personal touches and stunned by the beauty/modern/New Orleans décor that is exhibited in every corner. The kitchen is equipped with everything and even sports granite counter-tops! As you explore the kitchen, you will find the groceries basics like salt, pepper, oil, coffee, etc. In all the places that we have stayed in the past, we had to bring our own. This kitchen is well stocked with the accessories. We never once struggled with what we needed…they have it all.The bedroom upstairs is first class all the way. The bed is very comfortable and we slept like babies! The bathroom has it all just like the kitchen. They even provided special European like soaps for us to use. Again, most VRBO units you are to bring your own. I can’t say enough about the owners. They were so helpful with directions, suggestions on places to eat, and they really have worked hard to make their home a wonderful place to stay. I can only think of one reason why you wouldn’t stay here and it’s because your time requested is already reserved.

We stayed at "Down On Dauphine" during Mardi Gras 2008. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is! My husband and I love New Orleans and visit often. We've stayed just about everywhere you can imagine and nothing compares to "Down on Dauphine". From the moment you walk through the gate from the street, you know this place is special. The courtyard is beautiful and perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails. Once you step inside, you are instantly warmed by the beautiful decor and comfortable feel of the main living area. The kitchen is gorgeous and better appointed than my own! The loft bedroom is cozy and the bed is so comfortable you won't want to get up in the mornings! Your hosts have spared nothing in decking out "DOD" for your comfort, from wonderful robes to high thread count sheets and towels. If you can ever pull yourself away from the comfort of this home, you will love how convenient it is to everything the French Quarter has to offer. We will stay here again and again for as long as the hosts are willing to share thier wonderful place!

Pictures don't do this place justice. Why stay in a hotel when you can spread out in this wonderful condo, everything from coffee to hairdryers are here and the kitchen is fully equipped. Plenty of towels and soap and having a washer and dryer is big plus. The owner is great to deal with, will help you in any way. Add the price of a hotel and all the taxes this place is a much better deal and a better stay.
