If ever a landscape could be described as "too perfect to be true" this would be it. An eclectic mix of trees, lush gardens and manicured lawns sprawl above a secluded beach on the west coast of the North Island. They add their beauty to a magnificent panorama of the Tasman Sea. This is the setting for Seacliff Villa.
This beautifully decorated cottage is the perfect accommodation for visitors who want privacy and tranquility. It provides a unique atmosphere, with the most frequent description in the visitors’ book being "paradise". Visitors are lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves and woken by a chorus birds. Often, with the northeast-facing situation, there are spectacular sunrises.
Magnificent views from the bed, breakfast bar and bay window are ever-present, no matter the weather. Rainbows, cloud formations, a passing vessel - there is always something to gaze at.
Despite the seclusion there’s plenty to do. Visitors can have a tour of the avocado tree orchard (and taste free samples in season), retreat to the 1-acre sunken garden, or venture down to the black sand beach to swim, explore the tidepools or stroll to your heart's content. New Plymouth's cafes, coastal walkway, Mt Taranaki and world-famous gardens are just minutes away.
It is not nature alone that provided such a beautiful spot but the hard work of its owners, Nancy and Hugh Mills, who transformed 10 acres of grazing paddocks into such splendour starting 16 years ago.
They enjoy hosting people from all over the world. Many guests return again and again.
