This log house was completed in 2005 and when you first walk in, it still smells like the pine wood it was made from. It is located on 15 peaceful, wooded acres, overlooks over 850 acres of additional farm land with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance; the property does border both Hamilton and Leesburg for convenience, each about 5 minutes away.
'Windridge' is furnished with family antiques and artwork but has all the modern conveniences for your complete comfort as well. It has a combined living/dining/kitchen area with a huge fireplace. Off this central area is a separate den and screen porch which both have closing doors for privacy. The master bedroom has a king bed and it's own private bath on the first floor; with all of it's windows it feels like you're in a tree house! There are two additional bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 twins and the other with a queen bed.
This house is located in the country, but Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD are a reasonable day trip from here. Within a shorter drive is the Leesburg Corner Outlet with great, popular discount stores, many historical buildings, Civil War attractions, wineries and many parks are all also very popular year round.

Windridge was perfect in every way! From its fantastic natural setting, to its awesome architecture, to the décor and amenities, it proved to be much more than we had expected. Further considering that it’s a rental, we didn’t anticipate that it would feel like a home, but it does! The home was very clean, very comfortable and enjoyable in every way. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, very sincere, caring and available throughout the entire process that began over 6 months ago. Windridge is close to some of Loudoun County’s finest Wineries, one within walking distance, and within day trips to some of the major battle sites of the Civil War. It’s within close proximity to very good restaurants such as Lightfoot & Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg, as well as Lowry’s Crab Shack & The Beautiful South in Hamilton & Magnolias in Purcellville.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family and I rented this house to do a little getaway for the weekend. We wanted to do a wine tour for my sister's birthday. This house was perfect! Very clean and spacious. Kitchen had everything we needed. Fireplace was perfect for the cooler nights. The house is set back off main roads so lots of privacy and beautiful property. Very close to numerous wineries. Only issue we had was not staying longer!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your considerate review as well as your appreciation and TLC of Windridge! You were a pleasure to communicate with and I hope you'll come back and take advantage of a "Friend" discount - anytime.

This past July (2012) my sibblings and I reached out to Kaki 8 days before we were to travel to attend a family funeral. It was (is) a difficult time. Working with Kaki was easy, enjoyable and Windridge her log cabin style home was a sanctuary to come back to after challenging days and emotional trials. Thank you Kaki for opening your home for us to rent. It was absolutely perfect!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, Lisa. You are welcome to come back to Windridge whenever you are east again; you were very considerate and appreciative guests and will receive a discount when you comeback. I hope you and your family remember fond memories over the holidays to come. Thanks again for your perseverance too!

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely home for a week in June. We have rented numerous times from VRBO and this exceeded our expectations! The property is private and serene and the house is beautiful and welcoming. The owners went out of there way to create a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, Marci, for your appreciation of Windridge; you and your family were a joy to have and Windridge glowed after your TLC departure. We look forward to your visit again, anytime!

A group of us came from Northern California for a National Senior Event last October. We can't say enough good things about the house. The location was secluded yet close to everything. We enjoyed our stay and just found out that the tournament is coming back this year (2012) and will be reserving the house again. Can't wait to stay again!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Al, and look forward to you and the other players returning to Windridge. You all were very considerate and due to your thoughtful treatment will receive a "friend" discount this year! Look forward to working with you when you get your dates.

As we planned a trip with the family to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary we wanted to visit Washington DC and we did not want to stay in a hotel every night. Through the web we came across the house in Leesburg, just about 45 minutes outside the nation’s capital. From the start the contact with the owner was pleasant, nice and helpful. The information given matched with what we rented so there were no surprises. Sorry I have to correct myself here as the house exceeded our expectations so that was a surprise. The house was clean, in a beautiful area. There were deer in front of the house about every single day and on the last day we even counted 11 deer in the back. The porch was nice and so was the weather. The kids loved the pool table; the kitchen has everything you need, the master bedroom was romantic. Although we felt that we were in the middle of nowhere, as there is no direct contact with the neighbors it felt very relaxing. You need a car but the drive to the main road is less than 5 minutes away. What struck us most was that we could see that the owners have taken great care in maintaining the house in a nice and comfortable home. We felt at home as soon we entered it. So, if you want to spent a few days in a wooded area with some wildlife not so far from the nation’s capital we strongly recommend this beautiful house. We rented 3 houses during our trip this year and this house was, by far, the best we had. Will we come back you may want to ask? If we plan another trip to the same area we most definitely consider renting this house again. We did not regret it so we hope that future tenants have the same experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Wow, "K" family, Windridge was the best of 3; that's as great to know as it was to have you and your family stay at our log house! You treated it as if it were your own and we are deeply appreciative. So glad you enjoyed this area and hope you will continue to hold dear this memorable and adventurous vacation. With fond regards to your whole family, Kaki

I visited Windridge with my wife, 6 month old son, mother and father in law and my children's music band (a total of 6 adults and a baby in all) and we were super comfortable (we also rented the basement efficiency apartment for more space). We cooked lavish meals each night, watched deer and wild turkeys from the porch and back deck, watched fireflies at night and were put to sleep by the crickets and TOTAL darkness. It's a really well built and spacious house- central air, whole house stereo, all major appliances, a well-tooled kitchen and just generally very comfortable. This is definitely a rural setting, but close enough to Leesburg and every major convenience that it doesn't feel isolated. We walked to a nearby winery, door to door, in 8 minutes. We'd definitely come back again, without a single reservation! As you read through the other reviews, there is another comment on this message board referencing stink bugs and questioning the owner's responsiveness to the problem. We think this review is highly suspect. The owner was thorough and extremely responsive in all of her communications with us about it: we wouldn't have even known about the bugs had she not mentioned them. But moreover, think about it: who rents a house and complains about bugs that were a problem for thousands of people over hundreds of square miles!? This was not an issue with the house- this was a regional issue! Nevertheless, the owner worked tirelessly to save the house from the worst of it, a tirelessness that is mirrored in how well kept this house is altogether. Simply put, you'd be wise to book this house immediately!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you, "J", for your kind comments of Windridge and we would be thrilled to have you, your family and music group back anytime! Glad you were not phased by the stink bugs either; you're right, how could bugs not be expected in the country? Don't forget your "friend" discount next year, or sooner. Best to you, your family and band! Kaki

This is definitely a dream house. The restaurants in town were great, and we spent our days at the wineries in the area. The house, the location and the surroundings are perfect for a getaway. It is decorated wonderfully, and we could not have felt more welcome. We enjoyed our time in and around Washington DC, and only wished we had more time to explore more of the area. The owner had told us before we came down that there was a problem with stink bugs. We were given the opportunity to cancel for a full refund, but since we were told that the house had been fumigated, we decided to keep our reservation. Would we have preferred that there were no bugs? Of course, but we knew that this was a log cabin in the woods. The owner was always just a phone call away and was willing to help us out when we had questions or concerns. Our baby was able to sleep in a side room, and was not bothered by the bugs at all. I would recommend this property, because of the beauty of the home, as well as the honesty and integrity of the owner.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: WOW, thank you Jeremy. It was a pleasure having you at Windridge too! As you said, we did everything we could to make the stink bugs as little trouble as possible, but nature is unpredictable and your attitude was much appreciated. Your respect and thoughtfulness were obvious by the way you left the log cabin and I'm happy you enjoyed yourselves and would like to come back too! Please know your attentiveness is acknowledged with a free night when you do return to Windridge.

Beautiful house, no expense spared for bed quality, lighting, kitchen well equipped, extremely clean, and exactly as pictured. We got notification only 2 days before arrival that the owner had seen a few stink bugs in the house, most of which were dead. We arrived to find literally hundreds of stink bugs flying, crawling around and dropping from ceiling. The owner left us a special vacuum to rid the house of the bugs, but there was literally no way we could, even if we had many vacuums and many people vacuuming constantly. We stayed out of the house as much as possible. We had booked and paid for seven days, plus deposits for cleaning, linens, etc. The landlord agreed to refund our money if we found another place to stay. After three nights of battling bugs we moved to a hotel. We received a refund of considerably less than half our original payment even though we had understood it would be a full refund. We didn't get full use of the house for even one day. Ultimately our vacation cost us more than twice what we had expected. I wouldn't rent or recommend this location or this owner.Owner response: Last fall (2010) was my very first interaction with stink bugs. From conversations with different exterminating companies in the area and reading information online, I was determined to get ahead of them the following fall (2011) with sprays that would hopefully at least deter or maim them. (Links are not allowed within this response, but one of the many articles I read was from the Washington Post in September 2010.) There is no specific chemical that will kill stink bugs on contact. Please see guest comments from last spring and summer to see there were no complaints of bugs. I send out an email, a few days to a week before arrival, reminding guests that the house is in the woods, to come prepared if they have allergies and that regretfully, I have no control over weather or environment. Although Windridge is a lovely log house, it is not a place that older adults and a single young teenager should stay in all day, especially when there is an expansive area to tour with shops, wineries and historical landmarks all around. It was my suggestion that these guests should leave and only after mentioning “refund”, was it agreeable. After discussing this situation with many other owners, I decided that if I were in this position I would want to be compensated for what I didn’t use, even though warned, reminded and signing a contract. The invoice included 1 night free (when staying 6) and a deposit; deductions were made for the 3 nights, linens and the food I sought out and bought for them, returning all but $39.50 of half. There was a couple in the efficiency apartment, which is in the basement of Windridge, for a week overlapping their dates and since then, a couple and their 13 month old stayed upstairs, in the main part of the house, and were very happy and left it in the exact shape they found it. I gave them their deposit back, the cleaning fee and offered a night off on a future visit. The next group, there for a girls weekend, also got their deposit back and a portion of their cleaning fee and will receive a discount on a future visit. I am very aware of the situation at Windridge, have a pest control company there regularly, as others do who have ladybugs, ants and roaches, have compensated accordingly to all guests and believe that this guest exaggerated the situation in hopes of additional compensation. Thank you for reading my reply and I would be happy to talk about Windridge with anyone.

This is a beautiful, secluded home in a great location. If you love nature and wildlife, this is the place to be. You can sit on the back porch and watch the deer come in and feed. The rooms are spacious and open to the beautiful views. You have everything you need here. Shopping and beautiful scenery are located nearby and Washington is only a short drive away. A perfect and peaceful place for a great vacation! We loved it here and hated to leave.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
